For about a month now, after successfully updating Start11 from Object Desktop to the most current version, multiple times, and restarting the PC, Object Desktop still reports that Start11 has an update.
I do believe this is a known issue and being looked at.
Sorry for your trouble. Object Desktop Manager will be fixed, but no definite date yet.
In the meantime, compare the version number of whichever program currently on your machine to the version number available in your account.
If there's no difference, there's no need to update. Disregard the systray Object Desktop Manager app until it's fixed.
Thank you for the prompt reply. It's good to know that the issue has already been identified and is being worked on.
Thanks!
You're welcome.
Can You please finally fix this? 1.4.04 installed here. Also the changelog shows 1.39.1
Today I see it is not just STart11 that is doing this. Fences and Windowblinds 11 the same. They report up to date when I check them in the associated software and show as needing updates in Object Desktop.
As a programmer myself I always think it can't be so hard to let that little tool know that installed apps from the same company are decent versions. But hey...Or just implement Stardock apps properly into Winget for updating. Problem solved. And I don't understand why this is hold so poor in priority at Stardock., It is disgusting and not professional as hell not being able to monitor it's own apps for decency, sorry.
I think it's more a question of resource allocation atm, but I'm (rightly) not privy to SD's short and long range order of project time/resource allocation.
Start11, and other affected software, etc. are getting more attention by the devs because MS decided to free Moment 2 to whomever wanted to install it 2 weeks early, screwing up SD's schedules (from what Neil has mentioned in forums).
Be patient. It'll get fixed. See reply #2 in this thread for a work around.
same issues..
I am having the same issue with Windowsblinds 11. Installed the latest version multiple times. But object desktop manager continues to say it needs updating.
The question has already been answered in reply #2:
I did notice that. But I continued to post because this bug has been around for a lot longer than Feb 2023. Yet it hasn't been fixed.
It's very annoying. Usually Stardock is better than this.
Object Desktop is telling me that 4 products require update. They are all up to date. I just spent an hour trying to figure this out. Please fix this known issue immediately! There is no excuse for this to keep happening on software I have paid you for.
8 months and there's still no fix? C'mon that's pretty shoddy..
I understand your irritation and frustration, as I use SD software as well.
I think if this were an easy fix, it would have been done already.
Maybe the problem requires a revamp of the app altogether...I don't know, not being a dev, myself. I really wish I could help, but I can't.
Its a lot longer than 8 months.
For me it started with it telling me my Windowblinds needed an update, well over a year ago probably.
Now it tells me all these need updates:
Start 11
Fences
Windowblinds 11
I have updated all 3, yet it still says they need updates.
The only thing Object Desktop Manager is getting right, is it telling me that my subscription runs out on 23rd Sept.
This problem has gone un-fixed for far too long.
Its a farce.

In the meantime just uncheck the notify option or uninstall the app until it's fixed. Just check your version against what's listed as available in your account.
That's the currently available workaround.
This is indeed a problem and I will go yell at the right people about this.
The issue is due to how ODM handles version number detection and it is being confused by some of the newer releases.
If Object Desktop Manager had been a vital part for Stardock apps to function and get updates, a fix would have certainly been in place.
There is currently no need or reason to have Object Desktop Manager running for those apps, because they check for updates on a regular basis and notifies you when an update is available. If you still want to make sure you are running the latest version, you can simply click your user icon in the upper right and and go to Downloads on you account to check. If Object Desktop Manager had been a vital part for Stardock apps to function and get updates, a fix would have certainly been in place.
Why should I have to go to my account on the Stardock web site, just to see if I have the latest software version?
This is purely what the Object Manager program is supposed to be for.
Oh and going to Downloads on my account just shows Object Desktop Ultimate and a product key.
It does not tell me the version numbers of all the different programs.
Because that's the only way to do it atm.
Click on the Downloads dropdown > then on the Object Desktop Manager tab click on View Individual Downloads. Then you'll see the list of software and version available.
Apart from that, Fences, Windowblinds and Start11 will inform you independently that there's an update in a window on your desktop.
You don't. I just gave you an alternative option IF you would like to double-check.
To my knowledge, it was never called Object Desktop Ultimate. What you should see is something similar to this and you can click on Viev individual download to see links to all the installers and their version numbers.
You are wrong mate. There was an Ultimate. This is what mine looks like:
Oh, thanks DrJBHL, I can now see where the individual version numbers are.
But isn't it time that the Object Desktop Manager was sorted out?
