If you can get your PC in a working state, generally seen by starting with just one monitor, that would be ideal.
After that, create the conditions to put it in a ‘broken’ state Please also work to restore a prior ‘working’ Layout even if it fails.
Even if you cannot get it in a working state, that it is always ‘broken’ no matter what you do, please proceed with the rest of the instructions.
Once the issue has been reproduced, please open the Fences config and go to:
‘About’ → ‘Troubleshooting’ → ‘Create error report package for technical support’
Fill out the form
After Fences collects and zips the logs, it will open a Windows Explorer window where it was created as well as a webpage for it to be uploaded to:
Please upload the zip file and let us know in the forum thread that you have in this thread.

We will review the logs and potentially contact you for more information.
Thank you all for the time, effort, and patience.

Thank you for adding these troubleshooting tools.
Could you please provide a URL for version 4.0.10.1? I could not find this version on your web page and this is newer than the latest official version.
Its been updatedhttps://forums.stardock.com/516973/page/1/#3879605
Thanks,Sean DrohanStardock Product Lifecycle Manager
I don't know if this could be causing some of the problems with multiple monitors but my task manager shows both an enabled and a disabled entry for Fence Settings in the Task Manager startup tab. Here are what the entries look like in the startup tab of Task Manager:
Fences Settings Stardock Corporation Disabled None Registry "c:\program files (x86)\stardock\fences\Fences.exe" /startup
Fences Settings Stardock Corporation Enabled Medium Registry "c:\program files (x86)\stardock\fences\Fences.exe" /startup
I have never before seen a situation where a program is shown in Task Manager as both enabled and disabled. FYI the disabled entry comes before the enabled entry in Task Manager.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. I think it is best if you could post a screenshot of your task manager so we could understand what you looking at better.
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Attached is a screenshot of a portion of the startup tab on task manager showing the two entries for Fences.
Thanks for that. Fences need both of those enable for it to work properly.
Thank you,

For what it's worth, I have a triple-monitor setup, 24" (portait) + 43" (landscape) + 24" (portrait), and I've been plagued by this issue for years. It's at the point where I'd rather game on low quality settings instead of run a game at a non-native resolution, due to the Fences ending up on the wrong monitors. In any case, I'd be more than happy to help if you need a guinea pig or beta tester or whatever.
All,
I have written up a 'Winkey + P' test here and would like your feedback on it regarding this issue:
https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1344503818/Fences+going+to+wrong+monitor+after+reboot#Winkey-+-P
I am now having this issue pop up after waking from sleep. This is on a fairly new build (several weeks only), Win10, running Fences 4.10. I am running a Radeon 6800 XT on a triple 1440p monitor setup, all horizontally aligned.
It does not happen each time, but when it does it is fairly frustrating and so far only a Windows restart works.
Looking over the help center documentation page:
No 3rd party monitor apps are running.
These things unfortunately DO NOT help:
1. Restarting Windows Explorer
2. I already had Layout/snapping set to per-screen-resolution. I have just now tried the "Reset saved settings" and will report if that helps.
3. Restoring from an old snapshot does not help. Fences seems set to think my now rearranged monitors comply with what was saved in the snapshot arrangement.
4. Pressing Windows+P and changing to PC screen only, then back to Extend.
I hope this continues to get attention, or users who experience this bug report back if anything has helped.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you send in the "Output multi-monitor debug report" as mentioned in the first post and Winkey + P test as mention in reply#8? If you did please report back here.
Thanks.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
One thing I've noticed has happened at least twice now. After Fences end up on the wrong screens, if I just leave them alone and restart the PC entirely, the show up on the correct screens when Windows loads up again. Hope this helps!
Same question as above, have you send in the "Output multi-monitor debug report" as mentioned in the first post and Winkey + P test as mention in reply#8? If you did please report back here.
Yes, I stated the Winkey+P test did not help at all.
I will run the debug report the next time this happens.
Since I've installed Fences 4.0, files and images I save from the web now save to my second monitor rather than the main monitor. I have three monitors in total. How can I fix this? Here is the monitor report:

I have the same issue. Primary monitor is center, all newly saved files are formed on the left monitor.
For icons being sent to the wrong monitor, please review:

HI Paul. I tried the options in the link you kindly sent. Sadly it has not resolved the issue.
Hello, With Fences 4_4.1.1.0-j110 these settings do not work with Windows 11 Pro(Bulid 22621.1635). The correct monitor is displayed in the registry. With Fences 3 I do not have these problems. It annoys me very much that I bought Fences 4 for expensive money and neither the release nor the update works properly.
Yes, I appreciate the effort but no different results here..... today, the icons are in the right place, but who knows where they will be tomorrow....
