Thanks Neil
worked like a charm...... I didn't know the beta was the fix.
Have also noticed this since I got it. Maybe it needs some "eat resources" mode for us gamers.
Thanks for the quick reply Sean. Overall the problem seems to have been resolved following installation of 1.4.0.4-j287, however I noticed it occur this morning after waking the laptop from hibernation. It was associated with the appearance of the notifications icon (which was not present at the time of hibernation) and remained until I manually opened a new window (a browser in this case). From my point of view then, the 1.4 tweak is a suitable workaround for the issue as the problem is not present during normal operation and can be resolved without frustration on system start. This post is just to advise that the 1.4 changes do not not fix the issue 100%, but it's not a product killer. Thanks.
Once you have the new Microsoft update installed as well the issue will go away.
However you will no longer be able to have more than one row of system tray icons. This is a Microsoft change not us.
For me, after the update, the icon in win10 style have black background around them now (like the one I show below). They should blend in the tile as the background of icons are usually transparent. I have tried restart, but the issue still remain
As a new release of both Windows and Start11 are looming, we are closing this thread.
You can track the progress of the pending Start11 release, here.
As always, thanks for the time and feedback.
