I have a 55" curved 4k TV as a primary monitor. This takes up my entire desk space, and I don't care about >60Hz for 99% of my work (coding, video editing, and spreadsheets). I have 8 PCs in use - a primary rendering rig, 4x Intel NUCs, and 3x Beelink AMD boxes. I ran across Multiplicity KVM in a search for, well, KVMs. In the documentation, it says this:
However, from the primary, when I tried add a third machine, it gives me this:
Which leaves me with the question: Does this software only do many monitors with many desktops, or can it be used like a KVM to use one monitor for many desktops?
I am clearly not searching this properly as I cannot find the answer in the FAQ, forums, or with Google after quite some time searching. I am certain I am simply searching with the wrong words or concepts, but would appreciate any help in setting this up (if possible).
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But do you have KVM or KVM Pro? If you notice the chart below, taken from https://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/, for KVM, it is 1PC KVM. If you on KVM Pro, than yes up to 9 PC KVM.

This is exactly what I needed to know. Thanks!
(1) It seems like the kind of thing I should have been able to find via search. Could be that I had an unfortunate mix of search terms, but I'm guessing others might fall into a similar trap. I purchased Multiplicity via Steam, and the three types of licenses were not mentioned, there.
(2) In light of this, perhaps the error message in my original post should say something like, "A KVM Pro license is required to add more than one connection, here."Thanks!
Funny enough ... I think this likely relates to the Steam installer:

Hello,I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Hello,
At this time, only the Stardock version has KVM Pro - what you would need to have multiple concurrent KVM connections active at any given time.
The 'change license' option is not there for your version as the version change is handled by the Steam client. The only version change that can happen on Steam is from KM to KVM (the only two products available on Steam, currently).

I have figured this out, and honestly, I'm "impressed." I use quotes here because you guys are doing something that shouldn't be earth-shattering, but if you buy licenses of things on Steam, it is amazing how some companies seem completely oblivious of the transaction. When I went to upgrade Multiplicity, your store gave me a discount based on the active Steam subscriptions! While it may have taken me a bit to find what I was looking for, once you told me where it was, the process was super-easy and intuitive. Shame to those companies who don't consider their Steam customers as "customers."That said, the exact dialog in my original post could use a better error message to guide folks to the right place. And probably something in the "about box" should alert the customer that "The Pro Version of this software is not available from Steam."My day job is with ServiceNow, so I'm all about "deflecting" that next customer service contact.
Paazabel9333,
Thank you very much for the kind words and the recognition of something we actually put a lot of effort into - not just the pricing noticing, but the seamless license update as well.
Again, thanks.
