I just downloaded start11, and it looks like the exe contains a nasty virus (see snapshot).
Zonealarm antivirus has detected Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Chindo.gen !
This is probably a false positive.
AV apps are notorious for falsely claiming things are viruses.
Stardock do not bundle Trojans with the software and no other reports of this have been made and 1.25 has been out for some time now.
The Start11 taskbar extension is buggy as hell! The rest works very reliably. But as soon as you activate the taskbar extension, the enormous problems begin, which then also end in many instabilities, missing controls, empty tiles in the Start menu and frequent crashes of Windows Explorer.@Stardock, please keep a close eye on this. Explorer Patcher does a much better job here.
It sounds like there is some sort of conflict going on there as thats not normal. Possibly a resource leak from something.
If you were able to capture a crash as a dmp file we could investigate further, but enabling the taskbar feature should have no impact on anything else at all in Start11.
I recently tried changing the Quick Access Shortcuts, specifically I tried swapping the order of the "Music" and "Downloads" Quick Access Shortcuts below.
Since then the Start11 start menu runs off the top of the screen. For example:
Rebooting my machine doesn't fix the issue, neither does reverting the ordering of the Quick Access Shortcuts or disabling them altogether.
Changing the Start Menu style from "Modern Style" to the "Windows 7 Style" doesn't fix it either. The issue only goes away if changing it to the "Windows 10 Style" or "Windows 11 Style".
My version of Windows 11 is 21H2 22000.832

Looks like you may have also accidentally changed the icon size for Start11.
Open Start11 settings, go the settings from the Start Menu page, click Left hand side shortcuts and for Shortcut icons should be sized set it to Medium, It looks like you must have accidentally set it to Absurd.
Hi Quick,
It looks like you might have accidently turned the icon size to 'Absurd', check your setting in the pic below:

Hi,
OS: Windows 10 Edition Windows 10 Pro 21H2 (OS build: 19044.1826)
Start11: Version 1.25
I have two monitors with the taskbar configured to show the taskbar on both displays in Windows and to have the taskbar centre aligned in Start11. When Windows starts only one of the taskbars is ever centre aligned though and it's not always the same display that centre aligns - the other is left aligned.
e.g.
That was it. Thank you Neil Banfield and TPScroggins!!
I don't think it's a memory leak, but it has to do with Actual Window Guard / Actual Window Manager. With Start8/10 both apps ran side by side without any problems, only with Start11 there seems to be a problem here. And yes, it is not only due to the activation of the taskbar, even if it is deactivated, Windows Explorer crashes every 2 hours.
Update: trotz Deaktivierung von Actual Window Guard kommt es zu den Abstürzen! Ich habe nun Icaros in Verdacht: https://shark007.net/forum/Forum-Icaros-Development
There is an issue that I'm having with 1.25 where the taskbar and icons will flicker/refresh every time the clock gets to 0-3 seconds. Like some kind of weird resizing. It happens every 10 seconds and only happens when showing seconds on clock is active.
For example, at 5:30:00 - 5:30:03 I will notice very visible flickering on the taskbar especially around the tray.
Panel overflow into the window:
when the panel is larger (usually 2 or more rows) the window does not align to the edge but overflows below...
Bad:

The "most used applications" list in Start11 1.25 is more or less useless (as in the previous version). If I select to show the most used applications, the list is mainly filled with auto-started things. On the top of the list, I often have "Xbox Game Bar," which I have never used and probably never will use. Most other applications in the list are things that I use but that are auto-started, so I don't need them in the menu. If I search for an application and start it, it will NOT be listed in the most used list.
The end result is that the "most used" list is filled with applications I never start myself, while the applications I DO start are missing. Windows 11 Pro, version 21H2 build 22000.832Start11 version 1.25Modern styleStart11 search
Hi GuruGurra,
You can remove items from the list by right clicking on it and selecting "Remove from list"
The order is determined by frequency of use, interactions etc.
It means that opening an app doesn't put it instantly to the top of the list. As you use any app it gets promoted further and further up the list.
Also anything pinned to the taskbar will be ignored.

Yes, I know, but they quickly re-appear.
In addition, it seems as if applications started through search are not added to the list. I never start an application in any other way than through pinned icons (in menu or on start bar) or search. This seems to result in a situation where the programs I use never shows up on the "most used" list.
Sometimes the start menu doesn't even come up when I click on it. Reinstall made the delay even worse. Search filters are useless for people like me who store music and pictures etc. on other drives and use libraries. Search filters should work at the file type level not locations, then I could use it because it would be useful. When using the windows 10 start menu and forcing large thumbnails for pinned items the top group of pinned items would have the bigger thumbnails but the second group on the bottom would not. I can drag things from the top to the bottom and watch the thumbnails change size.
I realize that it is an awesome responsibility to try to recreate the perfection that is the final form of the official windows 10 start menu, but these issues are terrible, mainly the one where the menu doesn't even open or gets locked in the closing animation when clicking start.
Start11 is our only hope please look into this. I don't remember these issues with 1.24.
Thanks!

Yes, here's a video. This unfortunately does not show it as bad as I have had it happen to me but you can see all the icons shifting from :00-:03. It seems like the more icons I have in the tray, the worse it can be.

This is being caused by your time and date settings. By having a short form date but a time with am/pm and seconds enabled you have a situation where the total width needed for the clock varies as the font is not a fixed width one.
If you were to alter your date settings to show the date in a longer form, or change to 24 hour clock this would not happen.
A similar issue can happen without seconds showing when your day changes but it would not show every second, just when the date changes.

I see. When the date changes wouldn't be so bad. I'll see about the long form date options and see if any of those help at all. I do like having the seconds on the clock but the flickering every 10 seconds is annoying when you're used to looking for changes on the screen. To be clear, I have not actually changed my format. I'm in the United States and using the default formats for short date, long date, time, etc. I have never manipulated the date format and only ever wanted to have seconds on the clock. I manually changed the short date format to show like "Aug 10, 2022" and the flickering/shifting of the tray has stopped. Easy enough fix.
I selected the windows 7 Start Menu in Start11, but I am (still) getting the Windows 11 start menu...
rather than the selected Win 7 style:
I am using Start11 ver. 1.25 on a Lenovo IdeaPad 1 with Windows 11 Home, Version 10.0.22000, build 22000
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try uninstall Start11, reboot (important), reinstall Start11 reboot again. Retest and report back.
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Yes, the uninstall/reboot/reinstall worked, and I have the Windows style start menu back. Thanks much!
Great, glad it worked.
Thank you,

Hi. I have a crash whenever I try to drag something on the taskbar (not 100% of the times, but at least 90%).
It looks like explorer is crashing and Win11 with it.
