I am not sure if I am just blind and missing this setting, or its just not a option.
Is there a way in Start 11 to configure the Task Bar so when you right click you have the old Win 10 option to just close that Window, not close all Windows?
Hello,
I have forwarded your report to the Stardock support team for their review and recommendations.
Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates.
We really do appreciate your feedback, thanks.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Actually, you on Windows 10 or 11?
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Not currently as Windows 11 itself does not have such an option.

Thanks, appreciate the update. Glad to know I am not missing a setting.
Would love to see that added to Start 11. I really dont like how Win 11 does that.
Hi,
The functionality works in Windows 11 if you use the Old right click menu (Shift + Right Click)
Is it possible to just show this in the Start 11 right click on the taskbar application?
Thanks
That is interesting and does work with Start11 enabled I see...
It could certainly be an option consideration, but you would lose jump lists on the menu with it enabled.
I would love this option, even if it removes jump lists -- perhaps provide it as an option?
can we please get single close
+1
ASAP
I have the version 1.4.6 installed and now, I only have the option to close a single window when the windows of a same application are not combined. On anoter PC where the same version of Start11 is installed, I still have the option to close all the windows on this screen. I prefer this later behaviour. Is there anything I can to to choose between these behaviours ? Or even better, can you propose the two options (close window AND close all windows on this screen) ?
Many thanks,
Patrick
Same here for me, I need to be able to change between behaviors as I usually open a crapload of PDFs to print and then want to close all windows at once. Maybe there is a way to have it appear only on the "combine when full" option that I have it now?
Windows 11 Start11 1.46 version.
It should show close all windows when the taskbar is in combine mode. Close window should only appear when a button is for a single window.
EDIT : It seems this is not working as intended when in sometimes combine mode. This will be fixed in the next update, thanks for letting us know.
Yeah it is not working for me. either for program instances like acrobat or windows explorer windows or anything really.
Once I have enough and they combine I right click and it only says close window/program and it close only one instance of it.
I want to also notice I have the windows explorer to launch separate processes for each window and I see I don't yet have the latest windows 11 update (I have some work to do right now and I can't spent the time to install and restart, I will go for it later).
It seems the combine mode action has changed as well. I've always had it in never combine mode, and until now they would still get combined when there are enough to fill up the taskbar. With this most recent update they don't, and instead go onto another row. Maybe that's related to close all windows not working. In any case, close all windows only shows up it's set to always combine. I often have 20+ pdfs open, so I want it there when they're not combined.
Never combine has always does what it says and will never combine. If the taskbar is multi row it will wrap to another row or if there is no room it will switch to scrolling.
It sounds like you want sometimes combine.
The menu option issue is resolved in 1.47 which is in beta now and hopefully will move to release shortly.
Just got the new update and itʻs still not fixed. Close All Windows isn't there when the taskbar is set to never combine. Which of course is precisely when you need it.
ETA: ok I manually added the registry key mentioned in the update notes and now it works. The update didn't create it though.
Well doesn't matter much for me anymore, I have had enough of w11, back to 10 till I figure out what to do at 2025.
Thanks Stardock for trying to make w11 a bit more accessible.
Thank you for the kind words and support.
Excellent !! By adding the registry key mentioned in the changelog for version 1.47 (https://www.stardock.com/products/start11/history), the behaviour is just perfect !
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Start8\Start8.ini\Start8\ForceCloseAllAlways <= with value 1 for this key
Many thanks - really appreciated !
