It was said that something is in the werks for skinning 11...
ANY news would be greatly appreciated !!!
The funny part here that I believe is widely overlooked is that software the protects your privacy on Windows 10 also protects your privacy on Windows 11. What this really means is that Windows 11 is no worse then Windows 10. This goes against the notion that MS is getting worse with this era.
Hey guys... Thread subject Please.
I'm sure many members would appreciate hearing about those plugs.
Reply 26 looks like a good answer to your question to me. It sounds like Neils team will put some work into it every day and eventually we will have a product with even more answers. I am looking forward to seeing some of the upcoming skins in action
I have used Windows previews since Windows 95.
Carl...yes, so have I...but there's a difference between knowingly using a beta [just like OD] and not having an option because MS changed the system so that every general user had the Beta...

I believe 22h2 is now feature complete and has been since they removed the watermark this month. This is why / how Windowblinds 11 is in FULL development.
Sorry, but no. 1) The account sign on rubbish. 2) Its deals with Duckduckgo and red China.
MS's 'nogoodery' is demonstrably, therefore, on many levels.
The logic of 'the software plugging 10's holes works for 11, therefore there are no additional holes to plug' ("What this really means is that Windows 11 is no worse then Windows 10") is invalid.
Neither WB nor Curtains interfere with the computer at all. I never had pronlems with SD's software until I deleted Windows.old folder to reclaim space on my drive.
"DoNotSpy11" + "O&O ShutUp10" can be used relatively safely when you select the safe settings warning ! everything else only if you know what you are doing "Optimizer" "SophiApp" "Privatezilla" "Gilisoft Privacy Protector" "WPD" if you set the wrong values you can get problems or make windows unusable
I have always said many times, a user should only use system changing software(or any other for that matter) with caution. Lots of software can go wrong if a user does not understand what they are using and how it will affect them, That always has to be a Given.
There are so many more Progs to do this kind of thing, just look for yourselves and see.
Really hope the Oven is not too Hot, really interesting to see what comes out of the Oven.
WB is a program which applies images to many aspects of the GUI. Period. It doesn't alter system files. It doesn't gather information on you or your data. It's a program which applies file types:
The following is a list of common file types used by WindowBlinds: .SSS - are substyles, slightly different versions of the skin. .UIS - is an INI type text file with instructions for WindowBlinds on how to handle the substyle. See www.WindowBlinds.net for information on the UIS Language. .WBA - is a compressed ZIP file containing a skin downloaded from the internet. It includes all of the files that make up a skin (i.e. SSS, UIS, BMP, TGA, JPG). .ZIP - of a skin downloaded from the internet, and may contain all of the above plus other files (i.e. BMP, TGA, JPG).
The following is a list of common file types used by WindowBlinds:
And what does "deep into the system" even mean? It's a program. It runs like other programs.
Curtains is simply another program. It works on the features MS's light and dark mode work on - Start button, and many other small features, and makes it easy for people to be creative and make their own styles and enter the world of skinning.
Both programs run simply as programs. No "depth" difference, no file changes, no spying.
You're free to express yourself, but try to be accurate. It looked as if you were concerned that WB was doing something to your system, somehow. I was trying to correct the impression/misunderstanding you seemed to be laboring under.
As is always the case. But still with 22H2 entering the stage of "feature complete" this usually means that the software is done adding features and is now entering a new stage of bug squashing. The Dev channel and Beta channel have also been separated which gives Microsoft a whole new piece of software that is not "feature complete" to add new features for next years big annual update. Realistically we may even see 22H2 enter "release preview" by next month or July. This late in development it is highly unlikely we will see anything new in 22H2. But we can still discuss the actual holdup of Windowblinds 11 in more depth anyways.
The reason Windowblinds 11 has taken a while to be started is due to the tablet friendly taskbar that was in development on the dev/beta channel for months. This taskbar broke things like transparency, blur, and even texturing. So that is the particular area that was holding up development. That taskbar was scraped completely on the "feature complete" version of 22H2 paving the way for Windowblinds 11 to finally begin. But there is even more to this story, by the time the taskbar was scrapped Neil actually hinted that he solved all the issues that the "tablet friendly taskbar" was causing. This means that even if the taskbar does resurface all it will take is a flip of the switch and there will be no delays to the development of Windowblinds 11.
The path for Windowblinds 11 is pretty open now, I bet it is released about the same time 22H2 drops.
My hope would be better Start* integration. WB10 currently only works with the w7 mode. I have grown pretty fond of its W11 mode with multiple pages etc... and would like to see that mode skinnable.
Does this mean WB11 is still not imminent regardless of were Windows11 is at right now.
H.O.P.E. SO
Windowblinds 11 most likely will work with the Windows 11 build on the Beta channel but it will probably have problems if you are on the DEV build.
It took SD 3 months to build the start 11 "taskbar features" before we saw a beta version. I do not see Windowblinds 11 being built any quicker then that if anything it might take a little longer.
Hi Pheonix,
Just trying to lock down something Solid, we were told "News Fairly Soon" then the update we get is "That is not imminent but on the radar" Confusing ?
Hello naroon,
I always thought it would be great if SD would give developers journals to keep us up to date on what they are doing. Unfortunately, they tend to work on projects in complete silence until they are about to release most of the time.
Stardocks user base, the master skinners, the beta testers, the people that leave feedback regularly; this is what makes Stardock software great. It is the strong passionate core group of everyday users that drives Stardocks software to succeed. I really do hope the powers to be understand the value of this group moving forward. This is because it is a value that can not be manufactured in a office.
What....May '22?
Or is this a second account with which to troll?
That they do. Skinning has always been a symbiotic relationship, ever since the last century. There has been decades of 2-way interaction between Stardock and its customer-base, in particular the skinning community itself. This dates back well before even the origins of this site [Wincustomize - March, 2001].
One constant has always been....no amount of online argument or speculation or fretting will affect the release schedule of impending software...
