After winning my second game on 1.02 I decided to examine the Epic Achievements that I noticed had been triggering as I played. (Press Shift-F3 in game to see your list of achievements).
It seems that some of them don't work, they are not awarded when achieved.
So I thought I would make a list so that others could report whether they had gotten the achievements or whether there are others that are bugged.
First, these are the ones that worked, i.e. were properly awarded when I earned them (or others reported that they'd earned them):
Win as ArceansWin as the MimotWin as the ToriansWin as FestronWin as the DrenginWin as the BaratakWin as XeloxiWin as the IconiansWin as AltariansWin as the MantiWin as the IridiumWin as TerransWin as the DrathWin as the KrynnWin as the YorWin as the OnyxWin as the NavigatorsWin as the Luxar Dominion -- Supernova onlyWin as the Phalenoid Advance -- Supernova onlyWin as the Intueri Aggregate - Supernova onlyWin as the Cosmic Containment -- Supernova onlyColonize a PlanetHyperspace!Win with a Custom FactionPrestige VictoryConquest VictoryInfluence Victory!Diplomatic VictoryWin QuicklyDesign a ShipVeteran CrewFirst ContactCommodity SellerCommodity TraderCommodity GuruCommodity Seller, Level 2Commodity Selling GuruCommodity Trader - Level 2Solid EconomyRecruit a LeaderRecruit a Dozen LeadersWorker SpecializationAnomaly ResearcherArtifact MasteryUnleash My PowerOwn 30 PlanetsAsk Not What Your Empire Can Do For YouWin a BattleFleet Victory - This requires a victory over a large enemy fleet, 15 or more shipsGain an AllyDesign a CivilizationTrading PartnerXenocideIconia Reclaimed! - Works if Iconians take Iconia from the Yor via invasion, but not if Yor surrenderYor Dead IconiansRebuild the RetributionPirate CleansingPlay a Multiplayer GameThe EverwarThe Plague (Complete the Penultipox challenge)Breeding SeasonThe Orb of DraginolAgainst the TideWar with the Unknown - Requires attacking an AI civ ship before researching Universal TranslatorWin a Multiplayer GamePlay for 5 Hours - Only possible to get if you play for 5 hours continuouslyPlay for 100 Hours - Seems to require playing for more than 100 hours and then playing for 5 hours continuouslyGalactic WarBuild a Terror StarUse a Terror StarLose by Your Own Terror Star
Second, these achievements I believe I earned but were not awarded, so they are probably broken.
Complete a Minor Civilization Quest -- Base game on Epic onlyDiscover a Nebula -- Base game on Epic onlyThird are achievements for winning as the various civilizations. I have now tried all of them.
-All seem to work, but it took me 2 tries with the NavigatorsFourth are various other achievements. Either I know I didn't do these, or I think I might not have done enough to get them, so we don't know whether these work or not. Note that some of the victory type achievements are unavailable because that victory type is not in the game.
Relic HoarderIt's OUR HomeworldScience Victory! -- Base game on Epic onlyPlay for 1000 HoursWin an Immense GameFinally are the achievements related to the Galactic Challenges. I haven't yet tried these so I don't know if they work.
Shard of the MithrilarPlease post if you have found other Achievements that either work are can be confirmed as broken, or if you have better information than I about what is required to get the achievements.
I just won a prestige victory as the Navigators and the achievement was not awarded, so I've moved that achievement to the broken list.
@Wonderdeer on the GC4 Discord informed me that he had managed to get the achievement for Play a Multiplayer Game, so I've added that to the working list in the original post.
@Illauna on Discord told me he had gotten the achievement for The Everwar challenge, so I've moved it to the working list.
List updated to show that Win as the Luxar and Win as the Phalenoid both work. Also noted those achievements that are new with Supernova, and those that were available in the base game on Epic but have been removed for Supernova.
Updated to move Win as the Intueri Aggregate to the working list.
Updated to move Win as the Onyx to the working list.
Updated to move The Plague to the working list. This was definitely broken before, so it must have recently been fixed.
Updated. All civs "Win as" achievements are working except for Navigators, which is still broken.
I have been informed that the Breeding Season achievement is attainable, although very convoluted to get, so I've moved it to the "Working" list.
To update this thread, I've been able to unlock:
Win a Multiplayer Game
and just a while ago:
The Orb of Draginol
===
The Orb of Draginol might have been broken earlier, but I can confirm it is working as of Ver 2.4
This is how I unlocked it:
I first researched Cultural Influence so Galactic Challenges would unlock. (I don't believe it has any further restrictions) and then eventually activated and won the Challenge. It comes in three stages.
1] First you have to survey a random number of anomalies. Might be some formula to it, but I wasn't paying close enough attention.
2] Then, after you have surveyed enough anomalies, the game will tell you that found a "pocket universe" and you're given an artifact to store in your Vault which will summon a bunch of Dread Lord ships along with a Dread Lord Shipyard at a spot of your choosing on the map.
Now here's the part which might have been bugged or is new or, well, I dunno since I only came back to GC4 recently.
3] Once you have destroyed all of the Dread Lord ships and shipyard, whichever is the weakest civ in the game will get the Orb of Draginol (technically called a Galactic Achievement) and you have to go to whatever planet it was built on and capture that planet.
Once you capture that planet, an event will (eventually that turn) play and you're given a choice to either begin investigating the Orb, or say you want nothing to do with it. Each one will give you different benefits.
Once you make your choice, the achievement should pop. At least it did for me when I chose the first option to begin investigating it:
FWIW, the Challenge itself, or at least the last stage of it, is somewhat similar to the Artifact Mega Event in GC3 where the weakest civ in the game would get a power boost and you had to go stomp them before they got too big for their britches.
Now the nice thing is, and this might also be what might have caused some problems, is that this is an Orbital Improvement (fitting, no?). And while it can be on any world, you can also see ahead of time just which world it is on by looking at the orbital slots of all of the colonies of the civ that got the Orb, find which one built the Orb and then go grab it:
In fact, as I was just typing now, I wonder if the fact that the Orb can be built on colonies is what might have been the issue. If you haven't gone out of your way to take all of the colonies of the offending civ and then eliminate all of their Core Worlds... Well, since all of the colonies will then turn in inert dead worlds, and that would probably flush the Orb along with it. Not that I tested it to see what happened if I purposefully ignored the world with the Orb and just kicked the Festron in the head and wiped out all of their Core Worlds.
Either way, I can confirm the Orb cheevo is now unlockable.
Thanks, I've updated the list. I've tried to get the Orb several times and despite in most cases having my flag ships surveying constantly I've never gotten enough to get the quest advanced past that point.
Yeah, took me forever to get it, though I never kept track of the turns. One thing that you might try is shopping around the discover anomalies tech(s) to a couple different civs before starting the challenge(to increase the raw number of anomalies), and maybe even during the challenge to replenish the amount of anomalies, though there might be some funny business there with how the game tracks anomalies internally because it took me forever to get to Stage Two of the Rebuild the Retribution mission and I never got to Stage Three in the one game I attempted it.
I do regularly trade the discover anomalies tech to other civs, but since it appears to me that each time it is used the anomalies spawn in the same spot as the old ones, I only trade it to one at a time and then only when I'm about to clear the last few. I could be not understanding how it works.
Also, I did rebuild the Retribution without getting the achievement, although it was quite a while ago, and since then, like you, I've never gotten all the way through it despite searching anomalies at all times.

Keep up the4 good work.
Fleet Victory still doesn't work for me.
I'm not sure of the requirements for Trading Partner, but I have established several and still don't have the achievement.
I think you need 12 trade routes in total, whether started by you or started by an AI to you. At least that's how I got it.
thank you
I wish the achievements gave more information on how to get them but it's not a big deal
I agree, that's part of the reason for this thread.
Fleet victory is weird as I haven't been able to get it to unlock, but the global stats for it via Steamdb show that 18% of the player base have unlocked it.
That tells me that it either was unlockable at one time and no longer is, or it's bugged in some way where it makes it difficult to unlock. Say you have to play as a certain race, or the first fleet you kill in a game has to be a Civ and not a pirate/monster, or you have to be in a certain game state or a whole host of other factors that may be in play.
Like, for Breeding Season, I never would have guessed that (at the moment) one has to be at peace for 50 consecutive turns without (re)loading until I really started poking at various game states to see what the heck was going on with Awakened Urges. Could be something similar in that it's not unlocking when it should.
Haven't actually worked on testing it yet as I have a few other things on my plate (including playing GC4 in the first place), but it's something On My To Do List to figure out why it was unlocking for some, but doesn't seem to be now.
Exactly. I've been winning fleet victories against AI civs, pirates, and monsters, with small fleets, medium sized fleets, and fleets with dozens of ships (on both sides) since the beta of the base game on Epic, and I've never gotten the achievement. But the stats show some people have.
I consider the achievements, in any game, to be fun goals to work towards, and they should not be something that is so opaque you blunder into it and don't even know how you got it.
I tried the Navigators again after playing other civs for several months, and this time the achievement for winning as the Navigators was awarded. I've updated the original post to reflect that.
I finally traveled thru a Stream on Feb. 8, 2024.
Yes Pub I was in Supernova EA and Epic before that.
These aren't on your list, but are on the GalCiv 4 page.
Build a Terror Star
Use a Terror Star
Win by Terror Star
Lose by a Terror Star
Lose by Your Own Terror Star
I decided to get my Inner Tarkin on and have been playing a Terror Star themed game and I just unlocked
Interestingly enough, and I don't know if this is a bug or not, when I unlocked Lose by Your Own Terror Star I did not unlock Lose By a Terror Star. Don't know if that has to be from an enemy civ or not. Might try it in a multiplayer game or I might look into ways to try to "gift" a terror star to a civ and then declare war on them or figure out how to get a system to rebel or some other way to brute force a condition where Terror Stars are in the game.
Or maybe just play Godlike against a Nihilist themed enemy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
EDIT::: Yeah, just checked and Terror Stars are still technically star bases, which means you can't trade them.
Poop. Gonna be annoying to try to figure out how to do that without waiting for the perfect game state.
...
*does some digging*
Might have to mess with God Mode via the console to set up the proper game state. I'll look into that down the road.
==============
For folks who might run into this from Google and who want an "easy" way to unlock Lose by Your Own Terror Star, what I did was focus on the Nihilist Culture Traits (though I did make a pitstop in the Tradition tree to get the Hall of Tradition for the 1 cp per turn), made sure I got the buildings that gave extra Culture Points, and when I finally got the Terror Star tech, I built a Terror Star in my civ's home system, fired every single governor I had (so I only had my capital as my lone Core World) then nuked my own star system.
Three turns later, my home system goes kerplooie and at the beginning of the next turn, I get the LOSE Screen and the popped cheevo.
Not sure how you're "supposed" to do it. Maybe through a system that rebels? Is that even still a thing in GC4? And even if it is, would the Terror Star go with it?
Or are you indeed supposed to be the Ultimate Nihilist and kill yourself in a blaze of historic glory? Kinda funny if the latter.
Anyway, just confirming most of the Terror Star achievements pop, though as I said I'm curious about why Lose by a Terror Star didn't pop.
It's gonna be a looooong time before I get to a game state where I can test Win by Terror Star, but I presume that one is working - but I'll pop in a word in this thread when I find out one way or the other. Might not be for a couple of weeks though as I have to chew through eight other civs before I can get to a state where it's 1x1 and then I finish it off with a Terror Star.
Interesting. Some may have been added since I made my original post. The last 4 show up in the list of Steam Achievements, but Build a Terror Star does not. Strange.
Anyway, I'll update the original post to add the ones that you got, plus I just finished a game where I tried The EverWar, got Galactic War as a result, and finally, after many tries, completed The Orb of Draginol. Although I must say that the benefits of having the Orb were underwhelming. A whole 1% manufacturing, that didn't seem to grow as promised.
Might have missed it, but I see it between
Win as Terrans and Conquest Victory. At least it's on the link in my post.
