Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Start11 a better product.
Additional drag to open improvement consideration. Although drag to open works in most scenarios now, at least one scenario is not working as it was natively in all previous versions of Windows. Specifically when you try to save the picture open in a browser by dragging it to Explorer (or other program, doesn't matter) on taskbar. Right now it shows "stop" icon and does not work. Please fix it
And one more weird bug with drag to open. If you move video file from one explorer window to another by dragging it to another instance of explorer on taskbar - the moment your mouse reaches it - explorer is restarting. The same thing with graphical files work fine, as well as text document (and maybe some other type of files, I didn't test them all ). Also, please fix, as it is super weird :>
@SeanI updated to the beta yesterday, same issue occurred last night.I'll pull log dumps tonight and get them sent.
I'm not including the screenshots as the above screenshots pretty much sum it up. But what I will include are additional descriptions of what I've experianced and tracked down as 'program conflicts' that have started with a new update due to 'new features' in Ashampoo WinOptimizer25 (the new version from WinOptimizer19). It now includes features that in basic do the same as Start11 with regards to managing the taskbar.Additional issues I've experianced while the WinOptimizer25 is installed or the newest update is installed is as above or even as far as a startup that goes to just a black screen with nothing loading. I am forced to use a CTRL-Alt-DEL to get to a task manager to try to determine what happened to find most things froze at startup and in the end terminate at a reset only to end in the same result. Best start ups I get Start11 starting before WinOptimizer25 and everything seeming to work fine... (Basically playing a craps game here with the starting of my PC with which one will start first.) Sometimes, Start11 will start first however, WinOptimizer25 will attempt to take over management of the taskbar and Start11 will conceed and show in the program that another program is managing the taskbar. I am writing to Ashampoo to suggest a 'disable' option for this feature as it does cause issues with programs / apps such as Start11. Ashampoo has been good at implimenting such suggestions in the past. Perhaps if Stardock makes the request for the option to Disable the feature if a third party task manager is in use as well, it may help.Further note, if I totally uninstall Ashampoo WinOptimizer25(19) there has been no issues that I can report.
I just tried Ashampoo WinOptimizer25 and I am not seeing them offering the features you mention.
The only taskbar change I can see if the option to make the taskbar small, medium or large size which is purely a registry key change on Windows 11 (and is going away in the future) I have version 25.00.11 installed. Are there other options I am missing here? I tried on release Win11 and insider and nothing changes in that regard. They do have some leftover Win7 stuff for grouping taskbar buttons but best I can tell those are for Win7/8/10 and do nothing on Windows 11.
There are two reasons why Start11 would say something else is managing your taskbar. The first is you have used a tool which tricks the OS into enabling some leftover Windows 10 code for the taskbar. The other reason is explorer is not running or is hung as the detection code for this requires explorer to be actually running.

LOL. Sigh. I'm only in the mood to give a bad bug report this time but my bad bug report is OMG it doesn't work. I have no start button and no normal taskbar at all and I can't configure anything. I can't open the Stardock configuration tool Everything is completely hosed. As much as Win11 sucks it's worse when you can't use anything at all!
Bug 1
I see the problem. "You already have something else managing your taskbar buttons so this cannot be enabled until that is disabled." (As reported in 512434.) Of course, there's no user resolution for this because the things managing my taskbar buttons are you and microsoft. Because of bug 2 I can't uninstall/reinstall to fix your problem. You can rest assured that when I get this sorted i will turn off "automatically download new updates" because the bugs I know and can work around are better than the bugs I don't know and can't resolve!
Bug 2
Also, better bug report on another issue, I can't download software from your site because I signed up for forums using entirely different credentials from those used to purchase the product. I purchased through PayPal but:
UX bug report (bug 3)
(I'm into configuration now. Great, right?) You're using the left arrow incorrectly. A big left arrow at the top left of the window means "go back to the higher level menu" and not "take me where i just was". The way it works... Sure, I can see why a programmer did that but no way a UX designer would sign off on this non standard behavior!
Ha ha. I can't add new posts but I can keep editing this one forever. Ha ha. Well, I'm just running vanilla Win11 pro. And in two days I've uninstalled and reinstalled at least twice. It's not super great fun. I hope this time it works longer than just a few hours!
The latest Windows 11 insider build stopped showing the clock with no way to turn it back on. Windows 11 Build 22621.1 ni_release
As I am sure you are aware we do not offer formal support for insider builds of Windows. Very few people should be using them
That said you need start11 1.23 beta or later.
What build of Windows 11 are you using?
Just wanted to report, whatever conflict I was having with the Ashampoo WinOptimizer25 and the Start11 1.22 was resolved once I installed the Beta of Start11 1.24. It appears to be starting up and working stable once more with no issues that I can tell. If more appear or return I'll post again (or at least in the beta thread now that I'm using the beta.)
Taskbar transparency settings being ignored on 2nd monitor anytime monitor is turned back on. This includes when monitor is put to sleep by windows as well. Only happens on 2nd monitor. Has been happening for several several Start11 versions as well as various windows updates. Believe it was happening with W10 as well.
The same behaviour (restart when file reaches other instance of explorer on taskbar) is for .pptx (POwerPoint) files as well }:>
Two issues to report:
First, on startup, on secondary monitors, Start11 taskbar (1.22) appears on the bottom of the screen, despite being configured to appear on the top. Setting in Start11 panel shows it should be on the top. Restarting explorer makes it move from the bottom of screen to top. Issue appeared after most recent update.
Second, when Start11 taskbar is on the top, the 'start' overlay appears under the cursor when mousing over the start button. The overlay blocks mouse clicks.
Both issues are on Windows 11, v21H1 build 22000.593, and the Windows 11 style menu.
With the release of Start1 1.24, we are closing this thread.
