I am glad we could help.
Issue: When running a full screen application (such as a game, for instance Overwatch), this causes there to be a gap of unusable space above the taskbar that I believe is the same size as the difference between the medium (default ) height of the task bar and the "small" Taskbar size I have configured in Start11.
This is also a Beta version of Windows 11 - 22H2 Build 22581.200
How to recreate: In Start 11 set Taskbar size to small. Open full screen app. At this point the sliver of unusable space is visible inbetween any maximised app and the taskbar
The green foliage is my desktop background. The explorer window above is maximised.
Cheers
If you resize the taskbar to two rows and back to one is the problem resolved?
Hi Sean,
after restoring the system back to version start11 v1.1 now back online:
My version is Windows 11 Pro Build 22000.593 (no beta, insider...), latest regular release
Rebooted? Sure
Apart from the scary offset taskbar appearance: yes, I was aware of the taskbar center alignment issue before, though haven't found out where this mysterious "enhance the taskbar" option is. Maybe you can post some screenshot. Anyway, it's not an "enhancement of the taskbar" to reduce/disable standard functionality provided by Windows itself or a previous release.
All settings worked well in version 1.11 and after upgrading/updating to a newer release one can at least expect that the software behaviour won't change - till options are actively chosen by the user.
Version 1.11: Everything fine, center alignment works.
Update to version 1.12, no change in settings: No center alignment anymore, option grayed out - no explanation why that is.
But hey: you "enabled" the "enhanced" option, so this is why we have to "reduce" functionality.
I guess you get the point?
Appreciating you work nonetheless.
On this screen, I currently have about 10 windows open, but the taskbar only shows 2.5, and then another 2.5 when the taskbar is scrolled.
Additional info:
I have just realized that although there appears to be no taskbar buttons to the right of the half-sized button, the apps are there and clicking into the taskbar 'free space', one of the apps on that screen will jump to the top.
I plan on doing a reboot -> remove Start11 -> reboot -> install v1.2 -> reboot this evening and will report back if anything changes.
Enhance taskbar is not enabled by default. The user has to enable it themselves.
This can be done via the initial prompt on run where it asks you if you want it, or manually from the taskbar page.
It should have a label under the centre options when greyed out saying "Not supported when Start11 is managing the taskbar buttons"
That has resolved the issue. Thanks.
Great. It might come back after a reboot but if so let us know so we can investigate if we need to tweak anything.
I installed Start11 on a new Inspiron 7506, Win11 21H2 (OS Build 22000.593). The ctrl + Win has never given me the Win11 menu in Start11 versions 1.1 or 1.2; nothing happens when I press those keys. I cannot access the Win11 menu.
Ctrl + Windows key wouldn't open the default Windows 11 menu but it doesn't open the menu without Start11 either.
Can I ask why you think it would do that?
Ctrl + clicking on the start button will open the menu however.
After installing Start11 1.2 my device completely bricked. Won't restart or even turn on.
I am terribly sorry to hear that, but Start11 is unlikely to be the cause of that. It will not start up at all until you have logged in so issues prior to that should be unrelated and if your machine will not even power up that points to some sort of more serious hardware issue. Start11 does not replace or alter any OS files either.
The other possibility (if this is a tablet / laptop) is that the device is hung and you need to give it a hard reset by holding down the power button for a period of time (often 10 seconds). Now you can't remove the battery they have to have a way to reset if they do get hung.
Installing an update means rebooting / shutting down and thats often when problems show up.
The issue I posted earlier with the peek preview jumping to the left still exists
We found it to be extremely intermittent and considered it a fairly edge case issue so not worth delaying 1.2 for.
It is on a list to be investigated further in the future.
Understood.
IDK about intermittent though it happens everytime for me.
There are still issues with the taskbar when it is aligned to the top of the screen. This is with the just released Start11 1.20. Please see my earlier posts.
Winver 21H2 22000.593. Clean install of Start11 1.2Right-clicking explorer icon close to the edge of the screen
Hello,
I am unable to turn on (or off) the new taskbar setting options in Start11 v1.2....the 'on/off' button is not clickable (because I can't see it). I hope the screen capture is enough information to help you help me.
Thanks,
M
Whatever you say. The device was working fine prior to installing the latest release. It's too bad I can't get a refund for what has been a disappointing experience with this product by a first time user.
Start11 version 1.2 seems not to be able to handle my Taskbar corner icons properly!
The icons on the second line are not usable, while the ones on the first line appear to work correctly.
Edition Windows 11 HomeVersion 21H2Installed on 2/8/2022OS build 22000.593Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.593.0
I don't see this problem on my 2nd monitor, where the date/time displays correctly, as expected because there is no Corner Icon section.
Changing the Taskbar size parameter does change how the Corner area is displayed, but I end up with missing icons when there is an overflow to the second line.
Hope you can find a solution to this.
Regards, Mike
Hello there,I've been sporting a top taskbar since forever and what's happening is the quick options menu pops on the bottom instead of the top of the screen AAAAND it's actually cut. Removing menu tiles to shorten it doesn't change anything, it still pops up cut.
This happened on the previous release and this release too.Win 11 is 21H2 (build 22000.593).Visual proof:
Have you ever installed anything which might claim to have given you an on top taskbar in Windows other than Start11?
We have a few people with this issue still despite it being fixed and creating a new user account fixed it suggesting a conflict.
If not can you let us know what apps run at startup on your computer and what your Windows display language is set to.
Also just in case, try uninstalling Start11, rebooting and then reinstalling Start11.
please add option to remove the margin padding around taskbar buttons
& stretch the button click area to the edge of taskbar
make easier to click buttons quickly.
Clicking at the very bottom of the taskbar should still trigger the buttons when you have a single row taskbar.
