Found a workaround. Pressing right "Windows Key" to bring the "Official" Windows Menu. This way the Taskbar shows up correctly :

On the windows 10 style menu when enabling "load static tile images" rounded corners turn straight.
Also it would be nice to have the option to right click any tile and disable the static tile image. There are some programs (e.g. chrome) that load a background color of their choosing when loading the static tile image.
I noticed that the windows 10 menu look is really close to the original look, but missing a few details like drop-shadow in the icons of the tiles and the nearby tiles highlight when putting the mouse over a tile.
Yes, my thoughts were that it is related to the preview build. Which is fine. I have been using the dev builds for a very long time now. Usually, it does not have an effect, but I do know they are venturing into new territory and there could be ODD behavior. I just wanted to verify this is related to a bug/issue in windows 11
Yes I am afraid we can officially offer no support on those builds at all but we will note the issues. A few weeks ago they shipped a build that crashed if you right clicked the start button so support would be a quick route to madness The biggest issue is there is no certainty anything they put in those will ever even get released.
Whilst you clearly know the risks of using those builds, there are too many people running them who do not and then expect/demand we support them which is why I would rather they had never made those builds so easily accessible.
It is normal that if you load tile images the rounded corners revert to square. This is because the tile images are square.
Actually the native Windows 10 menu does not offer a drop shadow on the icons in tiles. It can't do this as it doesn't know if an icon already has a drop shadow in it or not. Instead any drop shadows have been put there by the author of the app in a custom tile (office apps do this) and they should look the same as long as the loading tile images feature is enabled in Start11.
Hi, I installed the beta this morning and noticed one bug: My clock and a couple of system icons aren't centering vertically in the "small" taskbar. They get cut off at the bottom.
Small bug I'm seeing. The mile-high description is that on my second monitor, the pinned apps are slightly shifted too far to the left so that they clip against the start button.
The clipping does not occur on the main screen (it's a laptop, so the problem isn't on the laptop screen itself):
Tried rebooting, no effect. The pertinent details are:

Screen orientations:
Display 1 (the attached laptop screen) is set to scale 125%, and resolution 1920x1080 (recommended) while display 2 is set to scale 100% and resolution 1050x1680 (recommended).
App icons appear to be clipped both when the app is closed and when it is open, and when combining is set to "Never", "Sometimes" or "Always."

Things seem to get a bit wonky when making the taskbar double height. The program icons on the right were bouncing around (see screen recording). Near the end of the recording, when resizing the bar, it actually teleported the taskbar to the top of the screen unexpectedly. So I made a second full screen recording of what happened after that. The taskbar wasn't really all the way at the top but rather a bit offset, and was acting strangely as seen in the recording, such as the start menu button no longer working.

Windows Version: Windows 11 Enterprise 21H2, Insider Beta Channel - Build 22000.588Software Version: 1.16Steps to Recreate: I had just installed it moments ago and restarted, having upgraded from the stable version of Start11, so not applicable. I noticed the bottom-right icons being wonky and went to record that, then the rest was unexpected, so you saw the steps to recreate the 'top bar teleport' thing in real time.
Other Notes About Above:
- The taskbar appears to have moved because somehow it changed the actual setting to be top mounted. I know this because my second monitor, which has a DisplayFusion taskbar, also moved up to the top along with it (though that one didn't glitch out and was actually attached to the very top).
- After restarting explorer it still appeared glitched out, until I restarted the computer
- It seems to behave as expected if it is only the standard single height
- While the taskbar is double height, the icons seemed to also shift around when a new program icon got added. For example, when I started recording, the "microphone active" icon appears at the bottom right and caused similar behavior as seen in the screen recording. Though I couldn't capture that particular event because it was caused by the screen recording software itself starting.
-Update: The "teleporting taskbar" seems to be happening randomly. I just walked away from the computer for about 20 minutes, and when I came back, the taskbar was glitched at the top again, until I used the "restart explorer" button in the Start11 options. So it seems to be happening with no interaction.
Other Unrelated Feedback:
- The program doesn't explain what "sometimes" means in terms of combining taskbar buttons
Trivial, but definitely worth mentioning: When wheel-clicking on any app, pinned or otherwise, on the taskbar, it typically opens a new instance of that app (i.e. multiple calculators, multiple browsers, etc). This works with most of the apps I've tried, but File Explorer does not open a new instance. It just selects the app.

Steps to recreate:
1. Open a browser or calculator or any app that supports multiple instances
2. Wheel-click on the taskbar icon for that app. App opens a new instance (as expected)
3. Open File Explorer, either with Win+E or from wherever.
4. Wheel-click on the taskbar icon for File Explorer. App is given focus, but a new instance does not open.
Of less importance, right clicking any one of these apps has a "Close All Windows" option (which is nice) but it would be nice to have an option to close just the one that was right-clicked on.

Hi, reposting here since it reproes with 1.2 beta (1.16 version) as well and the older thread is closed now. I have two issues with the latest build:
Pinned Edge profile shortcuts:I have three Edge profiles and all of them are pinned to my taskbar:
But when I enable the Start11 taskbar, one of the profiles is replaced with standard Edge shortcut. I have tried to unpin the generic Edge and create new pins for the second profile but always with the same outcome. I can't get one of the profiles to be pinned to the Start11 taskbar:
Missing taskbar icons:When I have "too many" windows open, some of the windows/icons will not be shown in the Start11 taskbar. What helps is to go to Start11 Taskbar settings and turn-of and back turn-on "Vertically centre the taskbar buttons".

Installed 1.2 Beta, rebooted. Windows 10 21H2, centering feature still broken.
There have been no taskbar changes for Windows 10 in this build. The issue on some Win10 installs is still under investigation.
No, it wouldn't be confusing (at least for me). You can just use the window preview to see what it is. Works the same, but doesn't take up all the extra space. Preview shows the contents and the same label. An option to turn it on and off would be preferred. That way we can customize it the way we want it.
I’m really confused by this post. You want ungrouping of app windows on the Taskbar, but you don’t want text labels in order to save space. You say you can identify the windows by the preview thumbnail, but isn’t that how the default taskbar works? If you are identifying windows by the preview thumbnail anyway, wouldn’t it save even more space to just have one tab on the Taskbar for all those windows?
I enabled the combined options for the Taskbar and now my weather widget no longer shows the weather. It's just an icon. I turned off the option and Start 11 did force WinExplore to restart, however, my screen kept flashing like it was in a loop to restart and my taskbar icons disappeared. I tried rebooting which got it out of the loop, however the Widget is still not showing the weather.EDIT: Never mind. Took about ten minutes and then the weather showed up again.
Yes, but why have labels on all the icons even when not duplicated? And if I have 3 Excel sessions open, I would rather click on the icons on the taskbar to switch between them then use the preview. I am smart enough to know which icon is for which spreadsheet I am working on. I don't need labels or previews to tell me that. There was another program that did this on Windows 10, but the developer isn't updating it to 11. It had the option to display labels or not. Why is that such a confusing thing to have? It seems like with a program like Start11 that has so many options with more coming that a little thing like that would be easy to implement.
On Windows 11 Beta channel, even with Enhanced Taskbar off, the taskbar is completely irresponsive to touch. The only things that respond to touch is the Start button, the notification overflow arrow, the touch keyboard button and the virtual mouse button. On the bright side holding touch on taskbar to reveal context menu works now.
Reverting to stable release for now.
I've been running Start11 in Win 10 mode and have been very happy with it; do you think these new tweaks will be enough to allow me to sanely use the Win 11 mode? Second question: do any of these tweaks improve the Win 10 mode as well?
More bugs, now on the desktop PC. With the Enhanced Taskbar, using the shortcut Win+N to open the Notification Center will not work and furthermore will prevent opening the notification center even with mouse until Explorer is restarted.

On build 22000.588 I can confirm that the tabs on the taskbar are irresponsive to touch. However that actual start button does work.
Hello, The clock and date do not center any longer since I installed the beta(see screenshot) I did find a workaround for the time being if you set to small and restart explorer then set to medium it will not change the taskbar size but will recenter the time and date.
2 things I'm noticing with the beta
1) The taskbar on the main screen, fairly often I cannot left click any of the icons, I have to right click the task bar, click away and then the icons become clickable again.
2) Icons are being treated globally on all taskbars. So for example if I have chrome windows on screen 2 and 3, and I click chrome on my main taskbar (pinned), it minimizes chrome on all other screens, instead of launching a new instance on that screen.
