Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Start11 a better product.
Is GCC4TI being run as admin?
Yes. I used to add it in the compatibility tab but since then i've added it into the applications manifest.
EDIT
Indeed when run w/o admin minimize/restore works. However It has to run in admin privs otherwise it cannot access various folders (like includes)
Go to the taskbar settings in Start11, scroll down to taskbar size. Set it to medium and then back to small. Then restart explorer.Does that fix it?Thats assuming you are using 1.17 (check about page)
Yes, I did try that already, and I’m on 1.17.
On beta/dev channels there's a new tablet gesture of swiping up on the taskbar to open the Start Menu. Is it possible to implement opening Start11's menu instead of the built-in one?
Currently no.
That makes sense then. I am pleased to say we have that fixed for the next update.
I just wanted to follow up on the two issues I reported: the quick settings being cut off when the taskbar is on the top of the screen, and notifications area/system tray icons being unresponsive and causing explorer.exe crashes when using touch.
Outstanding!! Any ETA on that update? I mean no rush just do it now : )
Early next week would be a reasonable expectation.

Cool. Can't wait to try it out.
The issue is slightly different but not better. Now we can briefly see the taskbar like during 1ms....https://youtu.be/rEJ9hYbtXVI
Issue still occurs with 1.17
I've been on the Beta channel since last summer and this is the first MAJOR update they've done since then. I do agree though that Stardock should stick to the finished product releases .. my intention was just to give anyone else on the Insiders channels a heads up if they were having the same issue.
This has been addressed for the 1.18 update.
I'm hoping the remainder of the touchscreen issues are being addressed as well? I've been having some crashes related to them in 1.17.
Yeah I'm not too thrilled about it myself - especially when I saw the 'evaluation copy' watermark .. thankfully it seems that the issues from yesterday are now solved.
Yes, Windows 11 is just terrible in that regard.
If you keep Windows 10 and use Start11 you will have a much better experience by using the Windows 11 start menu than installing that POS of an OS
1.16 is not playing nice with the latest iteration of Windows 11 on my Surface Pro 7, particularly when the keyboard is disconnected. In that case, Start11 doesn't work at all. I realize that it's often the case that apps don't work well with beta software (in this case on both sides), but it's worth a heads up to know there are problems ahead.
Start 11 is now on release 1.17. however there are still issues if you are using the beta / dev version. I believe what is causing you issues is the auto hide taskbar feature when the keyboard is disconnected. Auto hide will not work properly on version 1.17 (on Windows 11 dev / beta preview) and needs to be disabled.
Stardock will not be issuing bug fixes at all for the DEV channel which is fair. If I am understanding correctly, and correct me if I am wrong, the beta channel version will receive some bug fixes but at a lower priority because the main focus will be on the release channel.

This has nothing to do with beta versions of Windows. I'm using a Surface Pro 7 on stable Windows 11 and Start 11 1.17 and am still experiencing major stability issues related to touch that I've detailed in this thread. On version 1.16 touch was completely broken. On 1.17 it is highly unstable and causes explorer crashes.
My mistake. I read heads up and problems ahead and immediately my mind went towards windows 11 beta.
I would anticipate the next update should further resolve those issues.
The changes in 1.17 were more about making touch functional especially when you don't have the new taskbar features enabled.
Can't wait to get 1.18 then
Thank you guys

That is really great to hear! Thanks for the update. Do you think the next build will be launching next week?
Can we please have an option for pinned taskbar apps to open in a new tab(pinned apps should always be displayed on the taskbar)? With ungrouped icons, if I open Chrome for example from a pinned taskbar icon it opens the window but replaces the pinned icon.
Hi Neil,
I'm using 1.17 now and it's great.Small issue (1)... When "hidden icons" are shown...1. clicking on empty taskbar (place marked) DOES NOT HIDE the "hidden icons" panel2. clicking on desktop hides the panel, ok3. clicking on any open program tile (on taskbar) hides the panel, ok4. clicking on any "taskbar corner icon" hides the panel, ok
The issue is small and does not bother me much,I'm just used to cancel/hide the panel this way.
