Soooo Deskscapes.....How the hell do I exit the program?
Uninstall it. To turn it back on just hit install
If you do not want shell enhancements to exist on your computer in any form what so ever you will need to uninstall it totally.
These are not third party softwares they are operating system enhancements that need running processes exactly as the rest of an os does.
Just as with those other processes you can kill them directly...
If you don't want to ever see them you can at least uninstall, unlike most processes locked in by Microsoft's os itself.
Most if not all shell enhancements retain processes simply because they are requested originally by the user/installer.
If you cannot cope with non-existent loadings from shell enhancements even when disabled then uninstall all of them and accept the limitations of the default MS operating system.
To be clear....a program is something run by an OS.
A shell enhancement is something run to alter an OS Shell.
If you cannot comprehend the difference then any shell enhancements are not something you should be getting involved with....
I came across this heated discussion when I was looking for how to script or automate the setup for different configurations, such as dual monitor at home vs. dual monitor at work. Couldn't find that, but this discussion of exiting Deskscapes made me feel like I was missing something. I run Windows 10 and went into Settings -> Apps, clicked "Stardock Deskscapes" then on the drop-down menu "Uninstall". It asked me if I was sure, I clicked yes, and it uninstalled. Or it seemed to. There's no tray icon or process listed in Task Manager.
Is it still there hiding somewhere that I can't see?

From what I know, if you uninstalled it and it appear to goes through without issue, than it should be nothing else left behind except those dreams and wallpapers. Unless you select them to be removed too. Perhaps, if you wish, you can use those 3rd party uninstaller software to check and clean up.
Thank you,

It is, as bundled software. Even when you reject the installation of the iTop software which doesn't come close to Fences, it still installs. I informed Iobit of this behavior of their installer.
