It appears my issue with the tray area and its overflow button are fixed in the new beta btw
Windows: 21H2 (22000.556)
Start11: 1.11
Have a bug with transparency where only part of the taskbar goes fully transparent, regardless of transparency level when using an ultrawide screen/resolution. 3440x1400 in this case.
I'm unable to remove the 'New' tag under select items in the all apps list and some apps I don't have installed 'Microsoft News' and 'Power Automate' for example show up in the list and cannot be removed. This is out of the box (once installed). I've attached an image of the current 'Winver' my PC has as well as a red outlined example of my problems. Hopefully, these issues can quickly be solved as it's very off putting. Thanks!
I have this issue I'm also on the dev build (and I understand that's my issue) however after playing around with settings it's the custom start menu button icon that's causing the system tray to be blacked out.
If you are using dev builds of Windows (and I strongly advise against them), then you would need to update to the betas of Start11. 1.19 is the latest.
I appreciate that and I'm not trying to advise anyone any different I just thought I'd let the user know what I found to be causing it (or at least what was for me)
It looks like when you removed the apps they were not fully removed. We only show what the OS tells us is installed and it is curious that they are all still showing.
If you open the default Windows menu and go to all apps do you see them listed?
Windows 11 build 22581
Since the latest Windows update, Start 11 will not position the taskbar to the left without blacking out the system tray. Nothing other than the 'Position start button in the center of the task bar' to off will correct this.
If you use a beta/dev build you would need to use the beta update of Start11. Latest is 1.19
Unless you have a real need to be using dev builds of Windows I would strongly advise against using them.
Just to add to that, there is an off ramp if you have been stuck on the DEV channel. You can switch to the Beta Channel for a short while without needing a clean install. The Beta Channel build should be completed by next month so in a months time you will have an easy exit as 22h2 is about to be released to everyone. I wouldn't recommend getting stuck on the next DEV Channel build as you will be there for a year or more
Using Windows 11 start menu on Win10 21H2 (19044.1620) over 2 monitors.
Start11 Options >> Start Button >> Related >> "Center aligned"
- sometimes both of the start buttons are centered (hooray!)
- sometimes the left monitor's start button is on the left while the right monitor's start button is centered
- sometimes it's the reverse: left monitor's button is centered while right monitor's on left
What other software do you have installed?
Thanks Neil. I'm assuming your asking after software that interacts with the taskbar on startup? Is there something specific I should be looking for? There is an icon pinned to the taskbar that's a shortcut to a standalone stack (I was hoping Start11 could replace it since it doesn't support multiple monitors).
I'll unpin the icon and report back if the issue persists.
