I used regedit per article and loaded Win 10 explorer which I like better myself and WindowBlinds is now working so far. Has any one else tried this before?
P.S. Someone mentioned hazards about editing the registry which is a good point. You should always back up your registry first before changing anything and then you can always restore it if you make a mistake. I have been doing it for so long now I did not think of it. Very Important!
Thank you for reporting back FatPotato as it saves others time if they decide to test out either the reg hack or ExplorerPatcher, the more info from users who have put in the time on this issue of trying to make WB10 work on Win11 is vital for all of us. I can not say i had the same issues using ExplorerPatcher, for me the biggest issue was the transparent sides, this did not affect the usage or stability when i put this through it's paces, i was happy enough considering , before this explorer crashed constantly making WB10 truly unusable on Win11. Cheers.
I was hoping I wasn't showing my age on that one. There are some people not old enough to remember that craze
StartAllIsBack and explorerpatcher pretty much are the same thing only StartAllIsBack also includes a windows 7 styled start menu. I use explorerpatcher because it has 100 percent compatibility with start 11, which StartAllIsBack does not.
Old New explorer is a nice addition and makes the ribbon menu look a lot better, but on Windows 11 I am having transparency issues with some of the lettering when themes are applied
Edit - old new explorer is kind of sticky and can cause people problems if they decide to uninstall. Use with caution. It is a registry edit program
Please just wait for a new SkinStudio and Windowblinds 11 everyone instead of hacking your system.
I do think a more clear and easy to find roadmap would help aid to giving people patience. I do not know how often I see people asking for never combined tabs be added to the taskbar even though it is in the plans. Not knowing is also how I ended up with explorerpatcher. Most people that have just purchased start 11 or whatever probably will not go to far into the forum at first.
Hi LightStar i hope you are well.
Believe it or not , i agree with you, experimenting on your everyday computer is not a good idea nor is it for novices, so i too say do not mess with things that may leave your PC messed up if you do make a mistake, especially if it is something you have never done before.
I can only do this level of experimental work as i have multiple SSDs installed on a Multi Booting System, my main SSD is left well alone, i also have a fresh Image taken weekly for all my SSDs, so i can be fully back up and running in less than 10 minutes. A Users level of all things IT is also a massive consideration in doing experimental stuff, i work in the industry, so all things taken together, i have the skillset to fall back upon.
Stardock for me is the reason i am doing this kind of stuff, i do not know whether it is Blame or Thanks for starting me on this path of Themes and Experimental Customization with WB10 on Win11 machines. Moving to Win 11 without WBs is why i am at this point. My Computer has been upgraded and Enhanced during this period (I thank Stardock for this as i never would have done the work if we had a working WB for Win 11). I also thank Stardock for my venture into Alternate Customizations using Themes and UXThemePatcher, having no WB, same above reasons apply, and now i am a Beta Tester and loving it, getting Premium Themes for free for me to evaluate how they work in Win11, how they can be made better etc..
LightStar is correct, do not do this kind of work if you do not know what you are doing, and especially if you do not know how to recover your system if things go wrong.
Tell that to the people who have Windows 11 DEV build installed. Explorerpatcher causes far less problems then the DEV build in my opinion.
If they have the Windows 11 DEV build as there everyday Computer with no backup or recovery plan, well i suppose that is there own strange world to live in, but i would imagine those peeps have plenty of IT know how to fall back on which at least ticks one box for experimentation. I have in the past been an Insider but right now, it's not for me.
I am with you mate, Explorerpatcher all the way, as a whole OS full of bugs is not for me.
What happened to the OP? He started this and faded away...lol.
It was likely his first post. He won't be able to respond again for about a week
I found something new that is less radical that can be played around with
When I select explorer.exe to add to the exception list and then select "enable if you get a bad image error" then I can run windowblinds 10 on Windows 11 WITH the command bar without it crashing (at least in the one theme I have tried so far). Instead there are occasional image stutters in place of a crash.
Note: explorer.exe needs to be restarted after the settings are changed
Edit - this method is still rough and for experimentation.
So transparent glass works on WB10 and Win 11 ?
In WB10 what bugs are on Windows 11 ?

Thanks Jafo. I now see that
WindowBlinds10 still works on 22H2 ?
