This was the subject of a reply of mine to Tatiora's October post on Windows 11 Updates that I think merits a separate thread.
I've been advised by my tech support company to not install Windows 11 under any circumstances. A major reason for that is that I (and my office network) deal with protected health information and Windows 11 is not only not HIPAA compliant but opens your computer to all kinds of background third party access. MS has decided to go the way of Facebook and make you the product which they will sell as the primary method of sustaining their business. The 'upgrade' may be free but orders of magnitude more intrusive, mostly silently of course (the fine print applies when you click Agree).
Windows 11, per my tech, also is a major step toward forcing all your application purchases and subscriptions into the Microsoft Store, a la Apple. They are steadily making it harder & harder to install anything from outside their controlled ecosystem. They actually trialed this approach with a version of Windows 10 called Windows 10S. I learned of this when we purchased a Surface which turned out to have that OS for a dedicated purpose servicing a biometric device early this year. Initially I thought the "S" meant a version specific to the Surface but it turns out the "S" means Store, as in Microsoft Store. Our tech had to force an install of a regular version of Windows 10 before the software for the biometric device could be installed (it obviously wasn't available on the Microsoft Store). There were also incompatible drivers for things like our network printers & Bluetooth devices. The latter issues are probably cleaned up a bit in Windows 11, but beware.
A good example of where this will likely lead is the recent behavior of Adobe regarding Adobe Acrobat Reader DC which is the subject of another post here. They already have the ability to reach into your computer uninvited and steal paid-for software from you.

Good for you for giving it a go, hope you enjoy Win11, if it was not for this Topic too, i would never have given it a go either, it set me off down a path i did not think i would go, now i am a Beta Tester for themes in Win10 and Win11 whilst i wait for WB11.
Well, I broke down and bought an Asus laptop (Intel i3 11th Gen), that's Win11 compatible, it came with Win10 S Mode, but I quickly disabled that, then updated to Win11, really enjoying Win11, like I've said, I enjoy it (Win11) just like it is, but I too will be glad when WB11 will be released, so as to continue my skinning, my current desktop (Intel i5 8th Gen) does except Win11, but it's the one I do my skinning on, so I have to stay with Win10 (for the time being), but that'll change when WB11 comes out, that's about it... y'all have a great day!

Happy for you don5318, it's always nice to get new toys. I have only bought 1 masterskin since we have been in WB limbo, also looking forward to some movement on the WB11 front.

In many ways it does seem that start 11's taskbar has been under development for a very long time. But there are indications that it may be making its way to Beta very soon. Particularly because start 11's taskbar can be seen here https://twitter.com/bdsams
This would give Windowblinds 11 a completed tool to run on Windows 11 and would allow development to finally begin.
I have an Asus laptop myself. It is older, a zenbook flip with an 8th gen i7 but it was able to get Windows 11 on it no problem. The Zen Books always felt a bit ahead of their time but now it feels perfect with Windows 11 on it.
Everyone always talks about Dell or HP, but Asus also makes really good laptops as well. A good choice imo.
I wouldn't have an HP or a Dell if you gave it to me. Only Lappy I've ever bought [new] was an ASUS. ...
Never had any problems with my different HP ZBooks over time.
Nothing wrong with Asus, they make good Motherboards too.
This is my first (Asus), for a laptop, I've used plenty of motherboards from Asus, and never had problems.
Agreed don, good solid company Asus, had bits and pieces from them over the years. I do own several Laptops but do not use them a lot for everyday use, more for shopping E Bay, and doing experiments i do not want to attempt on My Desktop Machine as it's used for work and my own Forum.

It can, but it also looks like Windowblinds 11 is going to make changes to how it works. Just for the fun of it, I tested Windowblinds 10 with the Start 11 taskbar. I wouldn't recommend doing this by the way. What I found is that Windowblinds 10 doesn't fully hook in all the taskbar elements. The only thing that is carried over is the texture, all the tab skins are not present. On top of that explorer crashes in an infinite loop.
What this tells me is that we can expect a bit of an overhaul with how Windowblinds 11 handles the taskbar. I suspect the overall look will be a more native taskbar to Windows 11 which should differ from the Windows 10 style we are used to seeing with any sort of Windows 11 skinning that is currently available.
I do wounder what this means for backwards compatibility with skins that are currently available. In example does this mean skinners will have to touch up their taskbar on all their skins or will there be something in Windowblinds 11 that allows parts of a skin to be translated into the Windows 11 taskbar automatically.
Just something to pounder as we wait.

Backwards compatibility i would think has to be a must. I have a large collection of Windowblinds, if they do not work, that is a lot of money down the drain. Not sure if i want to start again from scratch, not sure how the Skinners would feel about tweaking all there back catalogue to keep them relevant.
I was going to make a large purchase as neone6 has just told me how to alter the Blur text on a lot of his and Vamps skins (99% of all my Skins are from these two gifted Skinners), so this is something to think about.
I Guarantee a work around will be made available as soon as we see this new term brought in, i have said it before so many times.
I presume this will come with the next Feature update to Win 11, and as i usually do clean installs of feature updates as doing it MSs way, one OS over another more or less, never sat right with me.
All i can say is i will do whatever i need to continue working with Win11 without the need to be forced to use a MS account at set up, either that be making a Modded OS, Or using a Registry Hack Or another type of fix of which i am sure the longer it goes on forcing peeps to do this, many will pop up all over the net, then it is up to each individual to choose what method suits there skillset and conscience.
Microsoft try's to push users into doing exactly what they want, and that is why enterprising peeps will always push back. Every single bad move made by MS in there favour has always been fixed to better suit the user, that will not change.
As of preveiw build 22621 I am still able to use a local account on Windows 11. This is the preview of Windows 11 feature update.
The only thing that requires a MS account is the initial install of certain Windows 11 builds (I believe some do not). After the initial install you can switch to local account.

Just noticed a new update to Explorer Patcher, maybe it will solve the Crashing loop of explorer like you mentioned above with the latest Start11.
I was aware the account needed to set up new Windows 11 installations, and you have mentioned the easiest fix so far, Use A Bogus MS account then move to a Local account with Admin privileges, deleting the original account. I am sure will will see more and more ways around this as we get closer to many peeps seeing it in action.
I suppose at the end of the day it is about how many MS services you are used to using per say how it will affect the user, I do not use MS store or cloud storage, and can easily use 3rd party apps to allow cross platform syncing and sharing. That is why i am not worried whatever MS try on, there will always be several fixes created to negate this.
