How To Handle Space Bugs
So you want to help us deal with space bugs huh? Well, there are plenty of them. Here we will give you some pointers on how to best help us.

Love the new changes. Will post issues/bugs if I find any. I quickly won a prestige victory. Game was not able to continue to next turn after this victory. I have since started a new game and disabled prestige for now as I want to try the 200 turns of war achievement!
Request > Several rare resources gate many upgrades for the player and the player may go hundreds of turns/weeks before finding them if at all.
The bug that doesn't add a weapon to a survey ship when certain anomalies are surveyed still exists. It was reported as fixed in 0.50, but it wasn't. I made a post here about it. It includes a save that reproduces the bug.
=======================================
The quests from minor races are partially broken. I finished quests from several minor races. In most of the cases, I chose to get a resource every week from them. In all of those cases I didn't get any of the resource. In another case I agreed to do some research for them, which was supposed to unlock the Kaxx Cryptography tech for me to research. That tech never appeared. I did some checking in the events xml files and found it spelled two different ways. Some have it spelled cryptography, and some have it spelled crytography. Notice the missing "p". Maybe that is the problem with the tech. EXPLOIT After talking to a minor race and getting the quest, I can talk to them again and get the quest again. After completing the quest again, I can make the same choice to get the resource again or choose a different choice. I was able to do several of them twice before I won the game.
Maybe add "as you" between "people" and "face".
There is a Prestige ideology and a Prestige victory. The same name for two different things might cause confusion.
The Prestige Victory happens very quickly. I won at week 185. When I realized I was well on the way to the victory, I checked to see what was needed and concentrated on trying to get the victory.Maybe it should take more to get the victory or some things should conbtribute less to getting the victory.
I got subspace streaming and went to a new sector. I quickly met a race there. The next turn they offered me credits to declare war on one of the other races in my sector. How did they know about them so soon? None of them could travel across the streams. I think race 1 needs to have already met race 2 before asking me to declare war on race 2.=======================================The Iconian Refuge and Krynn Syndicate are friendly because I am outside their traveling range, which gives a + + +. However, they are both in my starting sector, and they both have sent freighters to me to start trade routes. How can I be outside their traveling range?
Xeloxi are criminals and produce crime, but they complain there is too much crime.
It seems odd to me.
I'm still getting this error. I thought it had been fixed.
I played 185 turns before a prestige victory. I never saw any evidence that the pirates, precursor sentinels or space monsters were producing any ships at their shipyards. How often are they supposed to do that?
The space monsters were always making new ships from destroyed ships, but that's not the same as building one at a shipyard.
Thank you for the feedback.
The fix for anomalies to provide weapon buffs wont be fixed for save games. You will need to start a new game in 0.5 or 0.55 to have the fix.
I've rebalanced prestige.
I've fixed the Kaxx Cryptography mission.
Checking out being able to repeat minor civ missions now
The Probe ships in the ship list are no longer numbered. If I try to change their names, the pop-up has a default ship name that looks like a database ID. In any case, I can't change the Probes' names:
Thank you,
Richard
What I've reported has nothing to do with saved games being used in newer versions. The one I reported in 0.50 was a new game with the latest build when I started the game. That build was supposed to include the fix, but it wasn't fixed. I was able to get a save that repeated the bug every time. I was hoping someone would load the save into what was then the current version, see what happened and be able to see what caused it.
With the current 0.55 version I've started and finished one game and have started and am playing a second game. I've had survey events in both games where I had the option to add a weapon, and it was bugged each time. When I choose to add the weapon, it is added. If I move the ship or deselect the ship and re-select it, the weapon vanishes. The fix does not exist in 0.55.
I had it happen in the second game in my home star system in the first few turns. When I start a new game I always save before doing anything else. I just loaded that save and surveyed the anomaly to get the bug again, but I got a different survey event. I've tried several more times with different results that aren't the bug.
I'll keep trying to get a save just before it happens, but that will probably take a long time since the anomaly results seem to vary each time an anomaly is surveyed. Getting the bugged one doesn't mean a save just before it happened will allow the problem to be repeated.
I think you will have to play the game and manually control your survey ship as you survey anomalies. Eventually you will get one that offers a chance to add a weapon. You should choose to add the weapon. You will then see the weapon get added. Move the ship and see the weapon vanish. I guess you will then be able to see exactly what the code was doing. Unfortunately, this procedure may take a while.
Thanks for working on these so quickly. Despite my complaints about some things, I do appreciate all the work that goes into making GalCiv4 a great game in the future.
New tooltips with delay control is great, but the tooltips are appearing under the cursor. So it is difficult to move between close together items (planets, citizens, etc), because I need to first scroll off of the tooltip.
Ditto. You beat me to it, AdamMG...
I'm winning prestige victories in less than 200 turns. Is this normal?
Yes, for this version. I won one in 140 turns. Derek said on Discord that he's fixed it internally so now we just have to wait for the next version or hotfix.
Research relics that you own in .55 still aren't being shown along the top of the main window. They should be next to the culture, economics, and manufacturing relics.
I had a fleet on autopilot to attack a lightly defended anomaly. When the next turn came, the focus on the map shifted as if the game was trying to show me that battle, but the battle was overlaid by a research mission complete popup, a popup to ask me if a planet should be colonized, and then after I'd said yes, the colonization event popup. By the time I had cleared those and looked to see what had happened to the battle at the anomaly, my fleet and a pirate fleet were stuck in a battle animation and the battle had not been resolved like it normally would have been. I reloaded my last save to see if it could be reproduced, but due to the save being several turns old and me not doing things exactly the same way, when the battle was fought again I didn't get all those popups and I couldn't reproduce the problem.
Can't remember if I reported this before - the Planning trait in the Focus ideology doesn't work. It's supposed to give +10 logistics but doesn't.
Two tech problems:
(1) The Precursor Relic Analytics tech says it gives "Modifier Value +25%" however none of my relics or ascension crystals are showing any difference.
(2) I've researched Precursor Studies, but the Precursor Studies Center is not available to be built on any of my star bases. This worked for me on .50, I suspect that it's because in the Mimot tech tree (and maybe others) the Artifact Studies tech is now on a different tech tree branch and I suspect that the Xeno Archaeology Institute given by Artifact Studies is still marked as a pre-req for the Precursor Studies Center.
Thanks Publius, I've added those from your discord posts too.
I think I've reported this before, but I'm not 100% sure, so here it is again.
Constructors can't enhance a starbase, so the underlined words should be deleted.

Weapon accuracy is wrong. It's the same for all three weapon types.
As I go about colonizing class 2 or 3 worlds for their minerals/research/income/food contributions to my core worlds, I am presented with colonization events that sometimes seem to make sense only if I want to convert these worlds to core worlds, which for this size I would never do.
For example, does a colonization event that gives +20% manufacturing make any sense for a non-core world? I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem to increase the production sent to the core world. If colonies in a future release can revolt, then I can see how a +10% approval colonization event could make sense, but an event that increases the growth rate? Does that make sense?
I hope this area gets some attention as we move through the alpha and beta.
I regards to my post above, I've verified my theory that the Precursor Studies Center couldn't be built because the Xeno Archaeology Institute wasn't available, even though they were on separate branches of the tech tree. I researched Artifact Studies and now I can build both (or at least could if I had enough Precursor Nanites).
I have seen the same thing.
As part of the Orb of Draginol quest I used the artifact to open the portal to the pocket universe, and the text on the message to select an empty tile was cut off and very hard to read.
After opening the portal there were a couple of typos in the next message box. Also it wasn't clear to me what I was supposed to do next. I already had a tile on one of my colonies labeled the Orb of Draginol, is that what I'm supposed to "seek out"?
The Focus -> Efficiency ideology doesn't seem to work. It didn't reduce rush costs for me, it was still 900 credits for an Industrial Center. It would also be useful if it actually said how much should it reduce the costs? Playing as the Yor btw, maybe that matters.
Planetology tech text description doesn't make sense when playing with the Yor. It still talks about food.
Getting agreement on a unified food production plan is non-trivial. We are pleased to report that we can now define vast areas of a planet's surface to be used for the growing of food.
The Flexible trait of the Diversity ideology branch says that it adds 2% to global income, research, and manufacturing. Looking at my home world's income and research tooltips shows the 2% from Flexible, but manufacturing does not.
Research shows it:
Manufacturing does not:
