It seems, I am the only one who puts the taskbar to the left side of the desktop. Is this feature coming with Start11 soon? Would be really to be able to use the mostly unused horizontal desktop space again.
My Object Desktop renewal is due May 20 and I don't see any reason to extend it, when this basic features is not implemented.
When is the question. This is miserable to have spent so much money ($50) on this product and it doesn't even do what I need (right aligned vertical taskbar).
Features are looked at based on customer feedback and top and bottom taskbar modes are used by more people so they get priority to be implemented first.
Vertical taskbars are also a little more complicated on Windows 11 if you want to use the proper Windows 11 taskbar which nothing else does. I cannot promise if we will support this or not yet as Windows 11 is a constantly moving target.
Please also be aware competitor talk has never been permitted on the support forums.
Surely talking about other methods to do things either wanted or needed could and should be allowed. How can we make comparisons or share methods that achieve things without naming another similar or competitor ways of doing things.
Rules are rules and they are there for a reason.
Not that start 11 has any REAL competition anyways
Well first off, you could have just bought Start11 without any of the other software. Start11 by itself is only $5.99 (or, $14.99 for 5 computers, which is basically $3 per computer).
If you bought the full Object Desktop software, I would hope that you bought it with many of the other features in mind, not JUST for Start11.
It occurs to me however that no one from Stardock has replied to this post with information on a left aligned start menu. It would be nice to hear that this is something they are working on, and at the same time it would be good to hear if it wasn't planned, because then at least we know.
Hello,
But, did you missed reply#53?
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
So, in conclusion, seven months and 58 messages later, there is no priority or commitment to a left-side task bar.
No competitor talk is allowed here, but I think everyone can draw their conclusions from this. 😥
@joyo2, what did you need to do?
I think that may be a a bit of a slide rule answer mate, i have to presume the competitor is the other start menu replacement used by Theme makers for both Win 10 and 11 and was mentioned numerous times in this topic alone. I actually prefer the other method as it allowed me to use Updated themes in Win11 when there was nothing else on the market. They are both symbiotic ie needing another program to make the customisation possible, Start 11 or 10 needs WB to work at it's best, the competitor also needed a second program to theme correctly, except for me, both programs from the competitor were updated to work well a while ago and continue to get several updates since Win 11 was released,WB11 is still not in Beta yet for all the reasons we have read in other topics. I am sure i am not the only user who loves customisation and needs to use Win11 now. I get it that you love Start11, i respect your opinion, but do not share it. Start 11 now sits on one of my installed SSDs with Win 10 on it, but i can honestly say, it is my least used drive by far, only boot into it to update it in both programs and MS updates, i did buy 4 Masterskins recently, installed them, played around with them a bit, left one in place and then Booted back into my Daily used Win 11 with my Favourite Tron Legacy Theme. Many theme makers who i also talk to daily on other forums, would also disagree with you saying there is no real competition to Start 11, but hey Ho, the world would be so boring if we all thought the same.
What is the purpose of this statement? You respect someone's opinion, but they don't have a right to share/say it?
Are you the only one who can speak their mind? There are lots of things that I don't agree with you on, but I'm not gonna tell you not to share it, unless, I'm wrong in my understanding of your statement, of which I'll apologize for. Peace!

You have me wrong don5318.
I was telling Phoenix I respect his opinion, but I myself do not share his opinion on Start 11 having No Real Competitor.
Anyone can speak there mind don5318, not just me. I am Kool with you not agreeing on the same things as me, life would be plain Jane if everyone all thought the same.
I have worked closely and well with Phoenix, i have no problem with him, you, or anyone else.
I was not telling him not to share his opinion, why would i do that, he is entitled, i was telling him I do not share his opinion but Respect any opinion he makes.
Slava Ukraini .
And that's why I ended my comment with an apology, if I misunderstood you, in which I did, not the first time, at my advanced years... LOL
Sure it was an opinion and I respect that you have a different one. I would love to debate these two as it does make for an interesting conversation, but with the rules I do not think I can go into details in regards to the other software. I think we have to simply agree to disagree here.
I do see that skinning comes into the question. I will concur that has not yet come to start 11. Start 11 does seem to be on the home stretch as far as development goes. It is very possible that in about 2 weeks or so we will have more in depth conversations about Windowblinds 11 finally. I remain hopeful in Windowblinds, but am like you in wanting more details about the upcoming project
Not a problem don5318.
I am sure it was an Honest Mistake, i too are in my Twilight Years, getting older can be a Be-atch.
I get you fully mate, Customisation right now seems to be a two sided coin, WB on one side, and Themes on the other. Do not get me wrong, i do not hate Start11 (i own a copy), it seems up to the job and some. I think i like Themes so much now due to the fact that it is relatively new to me and has plenty to hold my attention being a Beta Tester (not to mention all the freebies they give me to facilitate this) I now think of my system as complete(for now) as i have done so much hardware upgrades and aesthetic touches to my whole Rig, and this is all thanks to Stardock not putting out a WB11 sooner.
I too wish we could debate the pros and cons of both as i respect fully anyone like yourself who has put in the hours playing with these formats, always good to hear another point of view based on hands on experience, but i can do without being hit by the rulebook so maybe another time, another place mate.
I do not even think we need to agree to disagree here. Your opinion is as Valid as mine, i value your input always as i know you will experiment with things and give good informative feedback. I will revisit Start11 at some point, but without a WB11 to give the full customisation effect, not just yet.
I really hope a bunch of work has already been done with any future WB11, but the replies' and analogies we see makes me feel otherwise, it seems the phrase "We can not do this, until they do that" is all we are going to get right now, so i hope your prediction proves to be more than just in depth conversations. Time passes and people without what they want will look and go elsewhere, i just hope WB11 brings back those like me, die hard WB fans, who strayed off the path and immersed themselves in the flip side of the customisation coin.
I feel so alone. I have my taskbar on the right side
That said, I would prefer left side to top or bottom in concert with the many comments on proper use of screen estate.
Very disappointing that a right or left-side option remains unavailable in Stardock Start 11. I have had this product (actually Start 8) since about 6 years ago, and bought multiple licenses in the past. Eventually including Object desktop too.
Unfortunately, this total lack of regard for adding this feature despite all this feedback is very disappointing. I see this as a deal-breaker and will look into other options; ironically, some of the replacement taskbars (like ExplorerPatcher) are free, which only adds insult to injury.
Alas, I think that's exactly where we are. I understand there are other things people ask for, but, after nine months, there is not even a commitment to implement this in the future. I wish it were otherwise, but ...
I'm using ExplorerPatcher along with Start10 and works perfectly and will upgrade to Start11 only when they implement the ability to move the Taskbar to the Left/Right
Even though I am not around much anymore, every now and again I feel the need to chime in. I am just wondering what I am missing because I can place my taskbar to the left or right and I am using Start11. I have not read every comment but I read a few that say this cannot be done, it cannot be done on Windows 11? if so that would answer my question because I use Windows 10 with Start 11.
Yeah, it's a Windows 11 thing.Even without Start 10/11, you can move the Taskbar in Windows 10, but not 11
Got ya, I have never used Windows 11 so I am not aware of its limitations.
If it helps, and as it is no secret, i use Both Start11 and the competitor on a 4 SSD Multi Botting System, just checked and i can move the Taskbar to all four places, Top, Bottom, Left And Right. Wow does it look weird.
I am sure SD will implement this in a future update, Start 11 is on 1 of my Win 10 SSDs, but do not use Win 10 often anymore.
