Hi there!
I enjoy Start11 on Windows 11.
Would like to suggest something. An option to disable grouping and enable captions like Windows 10.
(Screenshot taken from winaero.com)
I know about some "hacks" from the internet that this is already possible, but it isn't very comfortable for users.
Maybe you think about an easy option for customers?!
Hello,I have forward your request to the Stardock Support Team for their review and recommendations. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We really do appreciate your feedback, Thanks

Yeah start is back has this now, if this is not added to Start 11 then I will have to switch over
Look up 7+ Taskbar Tweaker.
Thanks, but not helpful for Stardock users.
Well, if someone chooses to try it as a substitute until the feature becomes available (if at all) & it does what they need it to do then I would consider that helpful. If not then my comment can be disregarded. Thanks for your opinion though I guess.
@basj, thanks for passing this onto the development team. I wanted to share the Microsoft feedback voting leader board submission for this feature too:
https://aka.ms/AAd2l82
It has quite a lot of votes so would be a very popular feature. I personally will not upgrade to Windows 11 without this. It was also mentioned in a big reddit Window's 11 lost feature thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/pgcjc2/windows_11_lost_features/
Any news?
No news on this yet.
Thank you,

I need this option back! I hate the stack of combined icons in the taskbar. Especially when I have wide screen real estate.
I need these options back as well. I also need the ability to right click on a taskbar button / program to drag it and re-order them like 7+ Taskbar Tweaker allows you to do.
I been using ExplorerPatcher https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher along with Start 11 so I can ungroup task bar however i'm hoping that the team behind Start11 deliver a AIO solution.Source is provided in the repo incase it helps with development for Stardock team.Keep up the amazing work guys cant wait to test out new versions. Thanks
Thanks for passing that on @Squish_da_bug. I won't be upgrading to Windows 11 without this feature.
My two cents. I am not upgrading to Win11 if the usual taskbar behaviour is not restored, cause MS seems like artificially curb productivity by taking out features used by LOTS of people very often when in fact they need to enhance it. So would like to know if Stardock is willing/able to return all the usual features of taskbar back - drag files to open apps to open them in the app, drag icons to taskbar to pin, make it stuck to any part of your screen if you want (a feature not for me, but many are using it) and all other functionality we have right now in Win10 which was taken away in Win11. You can either integrate it in Start 11 or even make a standalone product, like "Taskbar 11", I am sure lots of people will buy it as it was with StartX. So, any reply from the Stardock official would be appreciated, but right now it is hard pass for Win11 upgrade for me
Preferably they could just bring back ObjectBar. It was one of their most useful applications back in the day & would be exactly what's needed right now.
I have migrated to windows 11 yesterday and losing the option to ungroup icons was a HUGE negative. I always have 4-5 VSCode windows open, so it's a huge productivity impact. 7+ Taskbar Tweaker isn't working with the new taskbar either, so yeah, I will pay for the first software that give us back this feature(and is a quality product, of course, and not a quick hack)
Sometimes I think that Microsoft programmers does not work using their own OS, cause how anybody WORKING on PC in his/her sane mind would eliminate the productivity options which were there for ages and people use, I dunno. Or maybe they have no say in the matter and hipster people from the marketing who never use PCs dictate them what to do. Other than that I have no explanation for the disasters they seem to be doing every other OS release (Win 8, cough, cough)
Immediately came here to request the never group option on the taskbar.
By reading some articles a lot of them does mention an alternative solution which I won't mention here for the obvious reasons, but which brings everything we love and used to back to Win11, and by everything I mean EVERYTHING. But as I virtually have never heard about this product or its developer before, I would really like to trust already proven company (Stardock) to make their own solution to this problem. So, Stardock, don't rest on your laurels, as there is already a competing product on the market which seems to do exactly what we need And by reviews it seems it's doing what it is supposed to do good...
I will pay for Start11 the instant that an "uncombine" Taskbar feature is added. I always used ClassicShell (OpenShell) but I will gladly pay for Start 11 for them to re-add what Microsoft has so stupidly taken away. Until either MS themselves change it in a feature update or there's a third party solution like Start11 to add this back, I will NOT upgrade to Windows 11.
Windows 11 is shaping up to be Windows 8 SE if Microsoft continues remain this tone-deaf.
+1
I was using WinAreo Tweaker for several weeks to bring back the classic taskbar, but Start 11 v.094 & .095 just broke things. Reverting WinAreo's settings back at least brought back the clock area. Really hoping Start 11 can implement ungrouped taskbar functionality sooner than later as it really is key. I would prefer to keep using Stardock products but need a working Taskbar more. Now where did I put that suggestions tip jar. Will give ExplorerPatcher a whirl in the meantime.... and that looks to be working great thanks OP!
How did it break exactly as that wasn't intentional?
EDIT : Aha, I see whats up. Thats using that registry key which I thought everyone had given up on due to the horrible side effects it has.
Will be sorted for an update next week, sorry about that.
Thanks for the quick look Neil, it really is appreciated! The ExplorerPatcher seems to provide the core functionality a little smoother than WinAreo did so I am running with that for now.
It probably isn't making background processes crash over and over too which has to be an improvement
That said we have sorted it and also sorted a related issue with the config showing you Win11 options when you are using one of those tools. The config will now show Win10 options instead.
Hi, I am too desperately waiting for this feature. Is there a chance that Stardock will add "never combine" to its Start11 product? I am primarily asking whether to use one of the open-source solutions (you probably know what I'm talking about) or whether I should wait. I would rather use something from a known/trusted vendor so if Stardock plans to do something in this area, I would be willing to wait.
Thank you,David.
