Hi there!
I enjoy Start11 on Windows 11.
Would like to suggest something. An option to disable grouping and enable captions like Windows 10.
(Screenshot taken from winaero.com)
I know about some "hacks" from the internet that this is already possible, but it isn't very comfortable for users.
Maybe you think about an easy option for customers?!
I believe there was supposed to be a post about the roadmap, but the plan is to look at taskbar features for the 1.1 release which is the next big update.
1.0 was about getting the menu features out there, next up is the taskbar.
Great, Neil, please, PLEASE return all the features of the "classic" taskbar to version 1+ of Start11 and many I am sure will finally be able to switch to Microsoft's latest :>
This is great news! I did not see a road map and honestly had no idea if the taskbar was going to be worked on or not. Thanks for the clarification. I would definitely prefer a stardock built taskbar over open source solutions
At least Stardock listens to its customer's feedback, unlike Microsoft.
Hope Start11 gets the "Never Combine Taskbar Icons" feature soon.
I also hope this gets done soon, I hope they do it better than StartAllBack because with that one it doesn't really look all that great, it removes the animations and makes the colors those of Windows10, with the selected window being a white eyesore, but I still haven't found anything better than that.
Ping, anything new to report?
Waiting to pay for this as soon as ungrouping tasks becomes available...
Any news about the feature?
Next version still a work in progress , so no not yet .
Ah OK, is there at timeline for this feature from Stardock? I know Microsoft plan to re-introduce this in October 2022, so hope it's released soon in Start11.
Really? I only heard that Microsoft is adding a drag and drop feature. I can't seem to find any info anywhere on them adding never combine
Please, please, please add a Start 11 option to disable icon grouping in the taskbar. This really kills my productiviy hunting for right instance of each open program - continually.
Thanks in advance!
i gave up waiting on features to be implemented i now use this tool in combination with start 11 to customize everything the way i need it to.https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher
Explorer patcher is a nice short term fix, but it looks like eventually Valinet will stop updating it once the project takes enough out of him. It is not sustainable long term the way Start 11 will be once it is finally released.
Has the Ungroup Windows since been implemented? If so, where can I find this setting?(considering switching from ExplorerPatcher, where this works fine.)
No, not yet, taskbar features will be added later, for now it is planed to be in V1.2
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
Great it’s in the plan, is there a timeline for v1.2 release? Thanks.
Sorry, no timeline published yet.
Thanks Basj, that's disappointing that there isn't a timeline yet as this is driving me nuts.
I'm on the verge of format and reinstall Windows 10 as I cannot work without being able to ungroup icons in the taskbar
I believe the Dev is having a hard time to set a time line since Windows 11 keep changing things around. Just read some of the issues reported from users running the Windows preview version. I really hope user stop using unofficial release version so that Dev team can concentrate on things like taskbar features.
Thank you very much for the link Squish_da_bug
It was driving me crazy with all the icons together on the taskbar. I don't buy Start 11 until it has the ungroup taskbar feature. I have used StartAllBack which does have that option, but it is not as functional as Start.
Ping, do you have anything to share regarding this feature? Any idea when we can expect the beta release? I am ready to start testing.
Thanks.
I have used both, not many differences I notice
Right, I'm tired of waiting and I've definitely installed StartAllBack.
Have you tried Start11 1.15 Beta? https://forums.stardock.com/510777/
