not exactly an issue perhaps more a feature? but I think it would be a good idea for the menu to pop up directly above the start menu icon rather than across the screen. Directly above means it's easy to just click and then move up with the mouse rather than across-up... little thing but quite significantly usability wise (I know I could move the whole thing to the left a'la win10 but I actually think there's something to be said for it being centered as in 11)
Installed Start 11 beta today. Will there be a Windows 10 style menu where you can pin apps and folders?
I think thats a valid point.
Once you get a lot of items on a centred taskbar it becomes a lot less usable.
It has given me an idea of how to handle this so will see what we can do in a future update.
Doesn't play nice with scaling. On my Surface Pro, the Start menu extends off the top of the screen when Scaling is above 225% if the Modern Theme w/o icon is selected and when scaling is above 175% if the Modern Theme w/ icon is selected.

Long-time Start10 user, just installed Start11 on a Dell XPS 8930 desktop running Windows 11 Home 21H2 preview build 22000.120. (Start10 isn't now installed on this machine.)
Maybe I missed something during setup, but Start11 is installed, task manager shows it is running (and reports it as 'Start10' - see screenshot) but the Windows 11 start menu is all that displays, no Start11 menu.
Here's my Win11 start menu:
I've rebooted the PC but that didn't do anything.
What can I do?
If you open Start11 settings is it set to provide the menu and also on the control page is the start button set to open the Start11 menu?
Do you have it set to show a very high number of icons on the menu?
You can access this setting via the change what the menu should show link on the start menu page.
Hi Neil, thanks for replying.
Now here's a weird thing - in the hour or so since I posted about my issue, I've been away from the PC. Just returned, read your note, clicked the start menu icon in the taskbar... and the Start 11 menu displays!
Gremlins somewhere
ich würde mir noch eine Option zur Deaktivierung der Gruppenansicht in der Taskleiste wünschen.
ist dies in Planung?
und wird es künftig auch wieder eine Deutsche Version von Start 11 geben ?
I would like to have an option to deactivate the group view in the system tray. Is this being planned? And will there be a German version of Start 11 again in the future?
Using Start 11 beta on Windows 11 version 22000.120 connecting to monitor (Samsung TV) using HDMI.
Taskbar colour and transparency set - usually to black with transparency set to 60% but this happens with any Start 11 colour or transparency.
When my monitor is powered off then back on again (leaving at least 2 minutes before switching on again) the the taskbar reverts to windows 11 defaults every time.
If I reduce the number of number of icons the height of the menu is lower. Glad to know that is the reason I was having trouble. So, based on your reply, the start menu size is adjustable based on the number of icons and rows you select in the settings. On another note, are you guys planning to have a theme that mimics the Windows 10 Start Menu. Not the tiles, but the same layout with all apps on the left and apps and folders pinned on the right.
Just a thought, but if there was a way to incorporate Fences into the Start Menu where you could group icons however you like. That would be awesome!
Complete translations will follow and German will be included, yes.
The show tiles split into columns option is by far one of the best features on start 11 in my opinion... But the tile spacing feels just a tad bit off to me and could use some adjusting. The rows feel a bit too close together and the columns feel a bit too far apart. From my experiences so far this is more an issue when using normal sized icons as opposed to using large sized icons. The large sized icons feel more natural with the spacing, but the normal sized icons do not
I am running windows 11 version 22000.120 and start 11 overall feels stable except there is an occasional delay in some of the changes when customizing the look. Sometimes things like changing the number of rows or resizing the icons does not show until the pc is restarted or after a certain amount of time pass before the changes register to the start menu.
Edit
Here is an example, they are hard to catch because it seems to happen randomly rather than contantly. It actually took me some time to capture this without it acting the way it is supposed to. Here it shows recently oppened apps would not close untilI I restarted the pc.
Could you post a shared link to a video of this?
Thanks for the feedback.
Two things...
First I'm using Win11 with the most up-to-date updates.
On a dual monitor system, Start11 does not have any effect on the start menu for the second monitor. This may be a Win11 issue, it doesn't work 100% either.
Second...
I'd like to have the option for tiles on the start menu as we had on Win10. I used these a lot and would love to see them again.

Is there a way to a) return to the default Windows 11 menus and move Start menus to the center of the screen vs. the Start11 default of the Start Menu pinned to the left hand side of the screen?
Should have added that Start 11 taskbar colour and transparency do not survive PC reboot either.
Start11 does not default to the left hand side but upon first run it asked you if you wanted the start button to be on the left or not. If you answered yes then it set the option in the OS for left aligned button.
You can change this in Start11 settings (Taskbar->advanced options) or from the Windows 11 settings itself (right click on taskbar, pick taskbar settings, scroll down, find taskbar behaviours and alter the setting from left to centre.
You can disable the menu in Start11 from the start menu page in settings by clicking the On slider to off
Thats unexpected.
Do you have anything else running on your computer which might be impacting the taskbar?

Not as far as I'm aware. I installed Start11 over the top of a trail version of Start10 (most recent version). The Start11 install first uninstalled Start10 giving the option to save existing Start10 settings - which I chose to keep.
The only other thing I've done is use Winaero Tweaker but not to do anything to the taskbar.
Windows 11 dev insider, build 22000.120Start11 v0.5.0.0
I uninstalled Start10, installed Start11, rebooted, ran the initial Start11 config that appeared, but I have no Start11 Start menu replacement. The only thing running the Start11 config changes is the adjustment of Start menu, left or centered. I've tried several options back and forth, but I see no new Start menu replacement.
The only way I can get Start11 config even running is running Start11Config.exe manually. Start11svc service is automatic & running, Start11_64.exe runs for a while, then dies. In the Event Viewer I can see no items, that I could connect to the Start11 application.
Hi folks, I bought Start11 today. The program is running as far as Stabel!
I have a visual impairment. on my right eye is only 10% & the left one is at 0%.
Windows 11's new Start menu is great, and the icons are good too. but unfortunately the icons in the standard Windows 11 start menu are too small for me. Your program solves this problem wonderfully. Thanks to your program, I can work wonderfully with the start menu provided by your program and see everything. I still have 2 bugs with me. Bug 1 my Amazon Music symbol in the taskbar is not displayed correctly Bug 2 the taskbar sometimes switches back to the Windows 11 theme for the colors. This means that the settings that your program makes for the taskbar are reset to the settings of Windows 11
