I am using Groupy with 3 Displays (1920x1080), running Nvidia Surroud (5760x1080). I am running Nvidia Surround with the unchecked option 'Maximize Windows Across All Displays'.
When running like this, programs maximize to their prospective Display rather than maximizing to the whole desktop size. This behavior works until I turn on Groupy. With Groupy on, windows that display Groupy's Tabs do not repect this setting or are getting their screen mapping from an alternate source than any other apllication. This also completely disables window snapping.
I will try to use Microsoft PowerToys' Fancy Zone feature to work around this, as I found out about it from looking at Groupy's Bug Reports for this issue, but I am not expecting a great experience due to those bugs.
I hope that looking into this you may find out how windows is addressing screen space and pull that info into Groupy. This may also fix issues with FanzyZones and other things microsoft has waiting in the wing.
And if you disable \ uninstall that for testing?
Absolutely. Do you want me to disable Surround altogether or just enable 'Maximize Windows Across All Displays'?
Update: Enabling the feature makes all other windows behave the way Groupy is, as is intended by the feature. Windows with active Groupy Tabs still do not Window Snap.
Though it is a pain, I can disable Nvidia Surround. Though I need this feature more than Groupy. Let me know what you want.
I question why all other apps seem to work with this feature, but Groupy doesn't. Does Groupy draw its maximizing region from the reported pixel space? Where do all other windows get that information while in Surround?
I am using Groupy version 1.5. When I use it to group MS Excel files, there is a bug when selecting information in any one of the grouped files beyond the first one. When highlighting rows (or columns) in Excel, the software is designed to display a small pop-up with the number of rows and columns selected. This feature works correctly on the first Excel file within the Groupy, as shown in the first screenshot below. (Notice that Excel is showing in the pop-up that the selected area is "4R x 16384C".) On all other files within the Excel Groupy, the small pop-up is empty - it is not displaying the actual number of rows/columns selected (see second screenshot).
Screenshot #1 - Selected number of rows/columns is correctly displayed for the first file within the Groupy:
Screenshot #2 - Selected number of rows/columns is NOT displayed within the pop-up for all files beyond the first within the Groupy:

I also have this problems with Office 2202 of full screen in Windows 11.
I switched to another solution but started to miss Groupy... So I gave it another go.Tried your suggestion and did a clean boot. Groupy works as expected. Any idea on how to find the application/service causing the problem? I've disabled so many services already, I have almost nothing running anymore but Groupy still doesn't work properly.
It would be a matter of reintroducing the apps and services that were disabled - one at a time - to see what one is causing the issue. Not a fun process but perhaps the only one.
Let us know when you do as we would be interested to understand what it was as well.

2 monitors in use (dunno if it makes any difference)
Problem emerges on external monitor (i rarely use groupy on laptop screen)
Problem emerges daily
Word attached to left of screen (50%) and having multiple groupy tabs --> drag one of the tabs to form another groupy tab group to the right of screen (50%) OR drag one of the tabs from left side Groupy to right side Groupy --> Right of screen tab becomes transparent/flickers and doesn't resopnd to mouse actions. All other tabs on the right hand side work fine (just the moved one flickers/is transparent)
The same may have have happened with Chrome. I'm not sure.
I usually have PowerToys active (also FancyZones with 50%/50% layout for right/left) This might affect the issue
This only happens occasionally.
I usually have Adobe DC, Chrome ans Word active on separate Windows and/or Groupy tabs. Groupy has only one application in on tab group.
To verify that, can you repro it under clean boot and not enabling any of those other items, just Groupy:

I see a small bug related to the "Only show a taskbar button for the active window in a group" setting. This doesn't seem to work Windows 10 apps. For example, it does not work with Mail, Calendar, People, or Calculator. I'm using Groupy 1.5. I don't know if this was an issue in previous versions.
I really enjoy using Groupy. Keep up the great work.
Automatic grouping of notepad windows doesn't work.Windows 11 Pro EducationVersion 21H2 (Build 22000.708)Groupy 1.5Windows Editor 11.2204.12.0Steps to reproduce:- Open two notepad windows and group them.- Enable automatic grouping of all Notepad.exe windows via the three-dot menu.- Close the window group.- Again, open two notepad windows. In the Groupy config, the list of windows to be grouped automatically containsa new entry "Microsoft.WindowsNotepad_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App".If you replace this with "notepad.exe" by editing HKCU\Software\Stardock\Groupy\Groupy.ini\Groupy\AutoGrouping,the automatic grouping works.
I'm a big believer in your products. Groupy is my lifeline. But so is Directory Opus. We need to find a way to have Opus activate when I open my Groups. I know more people on this site also want this. Also, I would like to share your products with many people I'm associated with. The following is what happens when I Open my Groupy.
The Group is saved with the following programsMicrosoft-OneNoteGoogle-ChromeDirectory Opus
Microsoft-Onenote and Google Chrome opens every time. Directory Opus never opens with the group.
So I then move Directory Opus over the top of my Group and it snaps into place, every time. I then can use the three programs with no issues at all.
It's not a big thing but it comes up looking a bit weak on a fantastic program. I'm here to work with you to find a soluton.

I'm using Windows 10 64bit ProGoogle Chrome (Most Recent}Groupy 1.5 (And Loving It)
I created a Group with Windows-OneNote (DeskTop 365) and Google Chrome. To get the Calander and eMail you use Chrome settings. Chrome Settings-OnStartUp-Continue Where you Left Off. (As the name implies if email and Calander are active tabs in Chrome that's what you will get}.
1. Set up Chrome as above. Close it.2. Set up in Groupy a group with the programs, including Google Chrome. 3. Ready to Run.
You can also use Chrome a bit differently.Chrome Settings-OnStartUp-Open a specific page or set of pages, and save. You can be very creative here. I have not used this option but I would think any time you load Chrome this would kick in.
If you are thinking of adding email or calendar as a separate item I believe that each item would be a separate occurrence of Chrome, more overhead.
Keep in mind I'm taking a stab in the dark. I'm not the expert, only a guy on the web with an idea. Wish you luck.

Steam input cannot interact with groupy in any way, shape, or form. When using a mouse input from steam, like with a steam deck, steam controller, or other input device routed through steam, clicking, hovering, and all forms of mouse interaction are completely ignored. This is unique to groupy as a program as far as I can tell. Despite the fact that this program is available for purchase through Steam, it is completely useless when using hardware that relies on Steam as an input device.
some cool references:
Steam Input (Steamworks Documentation) (steamgames.com)
The Steam Controller Configurator's Untapped Power (gamedeveloper.com)
Pretty please fix this if it's feasible! Couch PC users will thank you!!
You may need to contact Steam for technical assistance with their product as this very much sounds like a bug their end.
Groupy accepts input from all standard inputs. Mouse and touch input would be accepted just fine.
My first guess is their input is being sent at a too low a privilege level. You could confirm this by opening an elevated app and see Steam input is able to interact with it or not.
The alternative is they filtered out layered windows from input or windows flagged to not take focus.
Hi Support,
We're having issues with one program in particular, if you could please assist.
The program is a SIP Softphone, developed by 3CX. They've got both a PWA and a Windows native app; PWA works fine, the Windows native app just refuses to be grouped.
Same issue is present on:
We've tried everything under the sun to get this working with no luck, so it'd be greatly appreciated if you could try replicate the issue on your end and investigate!
Here's a OneDrive link to access the latest 3CX installer (you'll have a hard time finding one otherwise, unless you sign up for a free trial on their website): 3CXDesktopApp-18.9.933.msi
FYI - The 3CX program has two Windows (shown below). The Window to the left is the one we'd really like to group. The one to the right is just the dialer pad, not too fussed about that:
Let me know if you need any more info!
Regards,
CG.

The issue is the app has been built with a buggy version of Electron that was released some time ago. A dev on the framework made a very silly change and then for reasons I really do not get this change got back ported to the stable versions of the framework automatically.
Whilst the framework was eventually fixed, it seems the devs of 3CX have not updated to the current fixes. They need to do so.
Unfortunately because of this the window is flagged as not having a proper caption window (the caption you see is fake) and not having the "I really am a window with a caption" flag set. Groupy does not group such windows as they look the same as say a splashscreen window.
Cheers Neil, makes enough sense to me. We’ll have a chat to 3CX and see if they’re dev team can do something about this. Greatly appreciated!!!
Regarding the Groupy error I pointed out above on February 27, 2022 8:43:03 AM - is there an update on when this will be fixed? The error makes the product a bit useless.
Hi, I've seen this problem discussed elsewhere, but none of the solutions have worked for me. I cannot get browser tabs to reopen properly in a saved group.
Here's what I'm running:
Here's how it goes:
I've tried it with three different browsers and these are the results I get:
I tried making sure there were no browser functions running already when I reopened the group, but got the same results.
Anything else I should try?
EDIT: Ok, I did some more searching through the forums and it sounds like Firefox is a lost cause. But Edge should work, right? Also just saw a fix which involves editing 'command lines' for the saved group. I haven't tried that yet, but might give it a go.
EDIT2: I tried editing the command line in the saved group file. Firefox was a total bust. Edge and Vivaldi were partial successes. Inserting the specific URLs in the individual group entries opened a single browser in a Groupy tab, but with the desired URLs as browser tabs underneath that. So can I assume that Groupy won't open multiple instances of a browser as separate tabs? Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere. I keep finding bits and pieces of solutions when searching the forum.
Groupy Causes Lag/window freeze while moving mouse, specifically on Fall Guys.
Video Showing Bug
I concluded that the issue seems to be the mouse polling rate(1000Hz). After Testing, the lower the polling rate = less/almost no Freezes. Even 250Hz Polling Rate had some microstutters... this is definitely an issue with groupy (since toggling groupy off solved the issue immediately) - and not some other program. purge/uninstall doesnt work. perhaps this is some limitation that is hardcoded or something. Adding Fall Guys to the exclusion list didnt work. the only solution is to either: 1. set mouse polling rate to 125Hz (still very small microstutters but very useable compared to a higher polling rate.) 2. disable Groupy Im using:

Thanks
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I cannot reproduce this on my work machine (1000Hz, Win10, Groupy 1.5). Is this only happening for you with FallGuys running?
Paul ScrogginsAssociate Technical Support Analyst
yes, I didn't notice any issues with other games so far...
Here is another video that shows the difference between multiple mouse polling rates.
Groupy Mouse Polling Rate Testing
i used MSI Afterburner to capture spikes/fps freezes.
on 125HZ There is basically 0 freezes/spikes.
