I have Fences installed on two different computers, both running Windows 10 Pro, 64 Bit. Within the past two days I installed the 21H1 update on both. Upon installation I found that on both computers, the taskbar flickers and all icons chosen to appear mysteriously disappear along with the "Show Hidden Icons" caret symbol. Intermittently the icons reappear and then disappear once again after a brief period. Changing graphics or display settings has no effect. As soon as Fences is disabled or the update is uninstalled, the problem is resolved. Anyone else experiencing this problem?
20H2 is older than 21H1
I have the same problem.
I am new to Stardock. And now i leave and delete this really crap software!
Is there no Stardock developer testing this software? I mean, they want MY money!
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, did you read all the posts in this thread and learn yourself where is the issue really at? It is clearly not Stardock issue.
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Sorry, but I feel it really is a Stardock issue, if they wish to remain relevant in this field of Windows utilities/embellishments - as long as Microsoft continues to change and develop the operating system, for better or worse. I am glad to have moved on from DOS on umpteen floppies. I am also glad (and grateful) to have enjoyed using Fences for however many years, but ........
Just that as mentioned, its a preview patch on their new "news and interests taskbar news feed" . So if enough people send them the issue, they should look at what in their code that make it not working properly.
Here few links on other site where this happen even without Stardock's product in it.

OK, but when push comes to shove, I suspect MS is going to be the "winner".
I did stumble upon this in another thread - "The workaround (for now) is to keep the news and interests item enabled on the taskbar. There are a few news sites reporting this (without Fences) now." Reply #2 here:

Seems to be fixed - MS Update KB5003637 did the trick? All OK.
No, this did not fix it.
Working fine on my end, all updates, and it's running fine, just my 2 cents.
Oops, spoke too soon. Toolbar malfunction still there , but bypassed by showing "News and interests" , then dismiss.
He is absolutely correct... My taskbar gets trashed as soon as fences starts up .. I disabled fences startup, and everything works... The right side of the taskbar seems to be most affected...
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please refer here on this issue : https://forums.stardock.com/505331/windows-update-kb5003214-issues
It appears that Microsoft has fixed the unstable Taskbar in the latest update. After installing this update I've found that there's no need to turn on "News and Interests" in order to stabilize the Taskbar while running Fences.
Details on the update can be found at

Yes, it seems to be fixed
Thanks for the info
EDIT: Nope, the issue is back after ten minutes
Alas, this did not fix it.
Same issue here, Windows 10 Pro 21H1, only have Start 10 and Fences installed. Icons randomly dissappear or don't show at all, sometimes restarting explorer gets them back. unistalling or disabling Fences resolves the problem.
Same here
Hello,
Have you tried the KB5003690 update?(Link in the thread below), I've tried it and it seem to solved on my system. Please try it and report back here.
https://forums.stardock.com/505331/get;3810147
This KB, 5003690, just showed up on the WINDOWS update process, and it does indeed appear that this may have fixed it.
So far, two hours since the update, and no jumbled task bar icons.
I believe it was an optional update, so be sure and check the update screen, as you may need to manually apply it.
Ok, let's try it
Thanks
With the Update KB5003690 no Problems with Fences anymore
Fences works fine under Windows 11 Preview.
