We are putting together the schedule to make WindowBlinds 11.
Customization is a lot harder now than it used to be. Microsoft, for reasons unknown, has actively encouraged developers to take care of their own client and even non client (border, frame) painting rather than using standard Windows controls.
Microsoft's baffling decision to throw away trying to provide a standard set of in-app controls for developers and instead provide vague, often conflicting standards (cough, Fluent) has resulted in having less and less of the OS we can even touch.
Which is unfortunate because WindowBlinds, in theory, could actually give Windows users a consistent, OS-wide Fluent if apps weren't handling the drawing of their own UIs these days.
Still, with that in mind, there are things we can do such as skin the standard OS controls and then handle apps on a case-by-case basis. Keep in mind though, the more non-standard apps we have to handle, the harder it is for us to keep compatibility.
Earlier this year we released Curtains which doesn't even hook into the OS. This means it is 100% compatible. Skins, even the weirdest ones, won't break a given app. Of course, the price is that it doesn't skin nearly as much (no client area GUI controls like scrollbars, push buttons, radio buttons, etc.). It's done quite well. However, we know there are still plenty of people out there who would like to have more full control over how their Windows desktop looks.
That's where this thread comes in: What would you like to see in WindowBlinds 11?
Other THAN would be proper grammar.....LOL....Fuckin with ya.
Valuable English lessons from a Redneck Dude
Humor is good, I missed the edit. lol
It is all part of a new line of software with Windows 11 in mind. Start 11, Fences 4, Deskscapes 2, Groupy 2, and soon Windowblinds 11 all designed to work on Windows 10 but maximized and must have software for the Windows 11 users.
it is over the times for windows skinning are over with continuous updates of windows and changes of the DWM it is hardly possible to keep a skinning software permanently functional for the users. with the next big windows 11 update the taskbar and menu will be changed again. many programs use a user interface that is also not skinnable , too badwindows 11 looks reasonably good with its transparency, acryllic and mica, from ui3 so you have to put up with it.
Comment #463 details Stardocks way around this. Start 11 is in fact in the process of developing taskbar features and will likely be the mold that holds WindowBlinds 11 together.
Honestly, I have seen that prediction made ever since Vista came out. It has not been correct yet.
WindowBlinds 11 (2023)

Those are long refuted typos as the real date is 2022. They also do not address the conversation between Jafo and myself which illustrated in some detail as to how start 11 can create a stable shell in which to create Windowblinds 11 around.
this is not trolling this is my opinion we have paid and paid for many years and cannot use our programs in windows 11 for a very long time so now is the time to stop continue to pay
This thread is about Windowblinds 11 planning. If you do not have anything constuctive to add, I suggest you create your own thread for the ranting.
How much money are we talking about here? Your account is two weeks old, so my guess is it's not a lot - until you have something to show for. This thread is about Windowblinds 11 planning. If you do not have anything constuctive to add, I suggest you create your own thread for the ranting.
be careful i was a stardock customer for several years , you can also be a customer without this site this is a new account because i am left this club because of smart al... like you
I have seen quite a few programs or sites offer some really cool software and then they just stop developing it altogether. That is what comes to mind when I think of taking the money and running. I haven't seen this from Stardock so it doesn't really apply. There have been a lot of start 11 updates, Fences 4 has been developed so they are still very much an operating company that hasn't stopped working.
Unfortunately, every 7 years or so a new OS is launched by Microsoft and at the beginning of every cycle there are growing pains as you are currently witnessing. If you read through the comments on this thread, some of the growing pains can be understood. Right now stardock is working on a taskbar and they probably want to make sure it looks pretty good before they release it since it is what we are going to be working with for 7 years or so.
Shortly after that I am sure Windowblinds 11 will be started
Then install Win 10 and wait to WB11 and Curtains 3.x
Windows 11 build 22000 is bugy shit and im use Win 10. You want disable Windows Defender ? sorry WD still run after you disable this shit, you want normal task bar - install StartAllBack, you want thumbnails on file - install thumbnails generator.... a lot funcion is cut and other funcion has a lot bugs.
Why is any member who has moved to Windows 11 only to find big problems using Stardock software they have paid for called a Troll. Members who find themselves in this situation will come to this forum and post, and after reading this topic and seeing the dates for said software still unclear and undecided will not feel any better about it. Then to be called Troll or accused of Trolling.
All the members here who are happy to continue using WB10 with Windows 10, good for you, but all peeps are not the same, why is it those who choose to make the move to Windows11 for whatever reason and especially in this topic are considered and spoken too in such a negative way, people behind keyboards would never do this in the real world, so why do it here.
Maybe you didn't read Reply #455. Windows 11 hasn't been out all that long, so why are you complaining about not using your paid Stardock products on Windows 11, and now you want to stop paying, paying for what?
don5318 and JanOscar .
I have read all the comments and a member has the right to vote with his feet and walk away from Stardock Products if they are not happy, that should be fine without being called a Troll. Plenty of users have came to this forum since the launch of Windows11 as they have issues with Stardock Products, we are seeing more and more in the daily recent comments.
Constructive comments about Planning Windowblinds 11 is something i have contributed with Heavily, spending numerous man hours working with work arounds, making WB10 work in Win11, reporting back my findings, so yes i do know that by now. What reception has those constructive comments had and have they been taken in a positive manner, that would be a Big Fat NO. The mere fact i have adopted Windows11 since it's launch and got off my backside trying to make something work that should not (WB10 on Win11), has not gone down well with a certain Click here. We are not silly misguided people for doing this, in other forums we would be seen as Leading members for even having a Go.
I walk it like a talk it, what you get here is exactly the same as if you met me in the real world, Too many here can not say that, Peeps behind Keyboards who feel like they can say what they want about others, Petty, so Petty.
I see that my name is in your comments, so, am I being petty (or part of a "Click"), for asking a question to a user, I was simply directing him/her to Jafo's comment, thinking that perhaps he/she didn't read it (so as to clarify why WB11 is still a work in progress), and I followed it with a question!? What is wrong with you, I do have my opinions (just like you), some of your comments I disagree with, but have I ever (in any of my comments) described you as "petty", I think not, so why would you direct your "being petty" towards me, after all, my name (along with Jan's) are at the top of your comment, so I'm assuming you are talking about me (or maybe you should be more specific). You've mentioned (numerous occasions), about all your contributions to the subject of this Forum, and I think that's great, I applaud you for all the work and efforts you have put into the discussion, but, I'm not calling you petty.

Actually Don's comment about reading #455 was a good attempt at steering this conversation back on topic. I thought the points Jafo was making in my conversation with him were very good and explained a lot of things.
