In a fence, I can right click and under Views change my folder view to List. When I double click on a folder within that fence I have to repeat this process. Is there a default view setting to where every folder opens in List view?
Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.

The folder portal is where I'm having the issue. I incorrectly stated fences in my original post.
The folder portal lets me set the view to lists. But, when I open a sub-folder it does not show lists and I have to set it in that folder. And, when I open a sub-folder in that folder the problem repeats.
I'm looking for a way to have ALL folder views default to List.
I asked about this ages ago and was but I was advised that they can't do anything about it as it is set by Microsoft. It seems to crop up in many threads.
Until today I accepted this. However, I noticed that when I restore a backup, any subfolders I changed to details, since the original backup date, went back to icon view. This leads me to believe that the info is accessible by Fences and is included in their backups.
There is no reason that this can't be set by default.
Is there a possibility to set a default view (list) to all the fences? It's annoying to switch always manually from big icons to list view.
*** DO NOT MESS WITH YOUR REGISTRY, IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING! ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP! ***I found that the hive key Code: c# HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Fences\ViewStates contains an entry into DWORD and BINARY entries for the folders. Using this information you can determine what entries are associated with what views and data. You could then write a shell/bat script to write a full entry into the registry. I am still looking to see if they have the default burried in there, as well. It's a start!
