I had installed Edge previously, and I haven't seen what the author of the above linked article is describing. Not sure I'd ask anyone to check if it's true after reading what he wrote, though. This really borders on monopolistic practice, considering Edge isn't IE base at all, rather it's Chromium based.
I wonder if any of you folks have seen anything like what's described in the Verge article, though.
This, along with wonky updates makes me really wonder "Quo vadis MS?".

I'd love to try it (Brave Browser), but for some reason I can't get it to install, Windows version is 2004 (OS Build 19041.329), it gets to the "connecting to internet", then after that I get a message, that says; "unable to connect to the Internet, please whitelist BraveUpdate.exe." I've done that, even turned off "firewall" in Windows Defender, and still doesn't install, I know I have an Internet connection, so, I'm clueless as to why it won't install
I would definitely love to use Brave as my browser but the thing holding me back is their limited speed dial or tabbed browsing feature. In Vivaldi , which is my present browser, I have about 36 different tabs on my speed dial start page which makes browsing so much quicker. If I'm not mistaken , Brave browser only accommodates 5 or 6 tabs on it's start page which is very disappointing to me. I wish Brave would fix that.

There are several Speed-Dial plugins in the Chrome Store which are compatible with Brave.
Brave's Bookmarks Bar will hold lots of favicons, also, depending on your screen res, especially if you don't use labels.
I found nothing in the Chrome store regarding adding tiles or tabs to the Brave Browser start page.

Still 'happily' using Chrome....with 26 tabs open at any one time....and 8 of them are Stardock.....I must get out more....
It was really only a matter of time before Windows replaced IE/Edge with the new Chromium version. IE hasn't been supported for years and Microsoft soon realized the engine they built for Edge was not too great either. There really wasn't an option other than including the new browser with Windows since a number of people don't have the know how to install one themselves.
In other news I personally use Firefox as my primary browser. I have others installed but like the middle ground that Firefox provides.
Same here, FF is my primary browser but I also have Opera and IE installed. Edge is also there but isn't ever used and lays dormant. I like the way FF is set up and its speed is plenty fast for me.
