Hi all,
we've been using Groupy for a while and tried several different settings and looked for specific settings that may be related to the behaviour that we experience, however, we have not found a solution and wanted to check here if someone has a solution. The situation is that Groupy does not properly group Windows Explorer Tabs after a restart. That is, windows that were previously grouped before a restart are opened as individual windows after a restart. Is there a way to group the windows in the same order as they were before a restart?
Thanks for your help,
Eric
Are these windows being automatically reopened by explorer or a saved group you are launching?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you try saving the group before the restarting and opening the save group after the restart?

The windows are reopened after the restart, however, as individual windows and not grouped. They are not saved as a group because most of the time we just have 4-5 windows open for a current task and these tasks and related windows always change, so if we would save them as a group we'd have dozens of groups which would make it very chaotic. It would be great if Groupy would save the current state of tabbed windows and reopen them in the same tabbed group after a restart, without the need to save them as a group.
I believe this is not possible in the current version of groupy. However, I have forward your request to the Stardock Support Team for their review and recommendations. We really do appreciate your feedback, Thanks
Thank you basj. Greatly appreciate it.
I was looking for this exact same thing and came here to request the same thing.
Right now I have a collection of browser windows (Firefox) in Groupy - groups of tabs on different topics - but I can't get Groupy to restore the browser windows and all of their tab collections. Groupy just launches a set of browser windows with one empty tab each.
Jesus, I just upgraded from Start10 to the full suite mainly for Groupy, but I had the same problem where the windows were ungrouped after restart. Do you understand how this is a fail? I would not have upgraded had I known this. As a media designer, I usually keep 10-20 Explorer windows open, and having them grouped is great, but now I have to regroup them after each restart.
For example, I want to have all of my tutorials in one window. Every time Windows restarts I have to gather them back together again. This is useless. For my work projects I have various resources open for each one. I will have to find a new solution.
Also, an aside - I tried Fences, and it offered to clean up my desktop and I agreed. It took my 20 Explorer windows and shut them all and gave me an empty Explorer fence. I had them open for a reason, it's how I keep up with all of the projects for work and their resources. It's very tough to dig through all of the media and find them again. I love the clean look of Fences, but I need you to understand how much you all inconvenienced me with that decision.
I believe, for Windows explorer groupy tabs. You can manually save those grouped tabs and open it back up after you reboot. Or you can make a simple bat file to automatically open the saved group upon reboot.
Thank you,

Of course we can do this but isn't the point of a tool like Groupy to make our life easier?
Well, that part already raised as a feature request as mentioned above (Reply#4). I can't tell, when or if, the feature will be added into Groupy.
