Well, well... no bugs found so far. W10 looks great now (and this tool is something I sought far and wide).
Congrats! 😉
Hi, what a great start. After a couple of minutes investigating the features of Curtains, I have to commend the creativity of the artists and developers. This is a great product. Nicely done all!!!
Thank you both for the kind words.
I've got the beta option ticked, but I don't see Curtains in Object Desktop Manager (it's not hidden either). I had to download it via my account page.
I guess I'm going to binge on my ObjectDesktop subscription. All those apps have come a long way (and I might have overlooked some of them)
Cheers!
Log out of ODM, perhaps even unload it from the systray, re-open / log in and see if it is there then, please.
Hmm, I tried out some settings, and now I'd like to go back to what I had before - is there an 'undo' or 'restore original' option, or do I have to set it up by hand again or restore from a backup ?
E.T.A. Ah, I've found some 'reset to default' options that seem to do what I want... I have to say the Curtains UI is one of the most confusing I've ever used! Is there a way to exit Curtains? I don't see a taskbar icon...

Curtains appeared in Object Desktop after I rebooted.
I am sorry you are finding it confusing.
Curtains does not have an 'exit' exactly, simply applying the Windows 10 style will revert things back to the default look and curtains will disable itself.
With regards to wanting to go back to what you had before, is this a case of wanting to revert to the windows 10 look, change some colour settings you changed, or did you use the edit style feature built in?
To get back to the Windows 10 look you simply pick the first style in the list, you can reset any colour changes you made using the reset default option on the colours page (you can tell if you have modifications as the colours button has a coloured corner to indicate this). Reverting actual style edits via the edge style page is not something we offer currently but perhaps we should consider that.
I am using it, and it seems to work okay, but whenever I try to go back to Windows 10, it seems to work, except it doesn't set the background image. It just keeps the last one I tried.
What background image were you expecting it to return to?
I used Start10 to customise my Windows menu and taskbar, and Windows personalisation to set my background and theme.
I do think there should be an easy (simple & quick) way to undo Curtains changes and/or revert to or restore the previous setup. That way users can play around and experiment with new ideas without worrying about getting back to where they were. Keeping a history or series of full configuration snapshots (including the initial one) and allowing users to switch between them would be nice.
Don't take my critical comments the wrong way - they're just honest first impressions - as an ex-software UI developer myself, I know how important good first impressions are to encourage people to use the product, and when it involves something that will only be done occasionally, such as changing configurations and layouts, it's important that it should be simple and intuitive so the user doesn't have to work out how to use it each time.
But my development career ended 10 years ago, so I'm probably way behind the times as far as UI style goes
I do like how comprehensive the options are - I'm just finding it tricky to figure out what they all do and how to use them.
Love the product, first and foremost!!
However, while using GOM Player in fullscreen, if a new file is selected to play, the player locks up and flashes. It will eventually switch, but it's almost like it's trying to change resolutions or something. When brought out of full screen the player window is now in the top corner of the screen, as opposed to is usual position (GOM Player saves and retains this positioning). That the only issue outside of what's already been pinned.
The one in the picture of the Windows 10 curtain, which just so happened to be the same background I was using prior to selecting a different curtain. The desktop background just stays as the last curtain I select. For each curtain I select it changes the background image. I thought if I selected the Windows 10 one, it would change to the background image in the picture of the curtain, just like the other ones.
Wow, love it so far. I am using the Cairo Dark. Just 1 things with this skin. I have pinned icons on the task bar. When i minimize the application, it hard to say on the task bar that the application is actually opened but minimized. The line under the icon, is a little hard to notice. Is there a way to make the line brighter?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. You can set that by changing your Windows 10 accent color to something more contrast than the taskbar.
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Taskbars can be on the bottom or on the top. It looks like curtains expecs taskbars to be on the bottom.
If you have Windowblinds loaded and apply a Curtains skin, the skin applies, but when you go back and apply a Windowblinds skin, the explorer menu bar is messed up (color stays at Curtains setting) and those small icons Windows 10 puts on the top left of the titlebar reappear. I am using OldNewExplorer. I had to reboot and redo my Windows 10 light/dark settings to get things working right.
Oh, and no matter what I did, I could not get Chrome to skin and it unskinned the Skype app (which WB does skin).
Styles can be set for both.
Which style is showing a problem?
Working well, some minor Beta issues (to be expected, it's Beta).
1) Start10 Start Menu Textures are not being applied, despite the Curtains function "Apply style to Start10 menu when supported" being unchecked.
2) The above option "Apply style to Start10 menu when supported" comes back on autonomously. The option can be unchecked in the UI but the next time the Curtains option menu is entered, the option is back to being checked on its own (likely related to line item #1 above).
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the report. We hope to address these two issues for beta 2.
Win10 v1909 build 18363.778
There is a lot to like about Curtains.
It would be great if you could do something about this-
If window buttons images aren't specified, e.g in "Dark Waters", in the inactive state the window buttons in Notepad ++ and probably other programs aren't the same as in Explorer and can be very hard to see. It would be great if they could be consistent and avoid creating button images to fix:

Also, I'm not seeing any way to specify System Colors such as buttonface. Is that correct or am I missing it?
Thanks.
Same is true of "Apply accent color to title bars and window borders", fwiw.
