I just updated to Win 10 Build 19536.1 and desktop does not work. The program works and shows animated backgrounds but PC screen is totally black. I'm quite sure it is a Microsoft problem but just wanted to make you aware of it.
Deskscapes 8 still works with Build 19546. Deskscapes 10 does not. A black screen
Doesn't work on Build 19551.1005 either. Posted on MS Feedback hub.
Deskscapes 8 does work with this build.
The problem still exists under Windows 10 build 19551. So I don't think this is going away from a Windows point of view.
Deskscapes 10 does not work with 19551 but Deskscapes 8 does. Version 8 not as slick as version 10 but does work as it's supposed to.
Indeed, we very much welcome the early warnings - many of our timely fixes for Windows 10 general releases were a result of users reporting issues on pre-releases.
The rub sometimes, however, is this:
Or rather, the inevitable 'is it done yet' replies for what is still a pre-release of Windows.
We very much understand the desire to have this resolved quikcly but for pre-release version of Windows, where MS could make any number of changes during its cycle (unbreak what they broke for example), the expectation should be that we (any rational developer) will wait as long as possible to release an update to match a MS release that is imminent- ensuring that our products (fixes) will work when it is.
As Neil has mentioned, there is testing that is involved, for DS, on Win10 on the other OSs it supports. We will post an update, either for a beta test release (Object Desktop subscribers) or a direct version update, in our forums.
Again, your feedback is always welcome and is vital to creating quality software so keep it coming.

Thank You. I certainly appreciate your comment (And DO understand that as a support person and developer!)
At this point I think we are all just waiting. Neal had suggested an update "soon", we just don't know if soon means Tomorrow, Next week, or next year. I don't suppose you have any insight onto that time frame?
I did some testing over the last few days and found some issues that need to be worked on - the devs have that data.
However, even if the primary issue was resolved today, that would not necessarily necessitate an immediate release as MS could do any number of things prior to a general release that we would then have to address as well (prompting people to update more than once in a short period - never well-received). It's a fact that all Windows developers have come to grapple with since MS has changed up how frequently they update Windows (10).
That said, I suspect we might have a beta release before too long as that leaves us less exposed should MS change things up and beta releases do not prompt all users to update. Don't quote me, however... 😉
Thanks. I appreciate the update.
You are most welcome.

If you get to a beta version and need testers, I am willing to do that.
Noted, thank you.
wow, I will be subscribing to this forum as I too am looking forward to Deskscapes working again on the Insider builds. I am Build 19551.rs_prerelease. I use windowblinds wallpaper to render a static desktop. I miss deskscapes active motions. I will continue to be on the front-line, and accept the issues that may arise. If not, I just revert to a previous build. Although that in itself is an issue.
Okay, Stardock looking forward to the new releases of Deskscapes and CursorFX that will work alongside the insider builds of Windows 10.
good news everyone, I can confirm, Deskscapes v8.51 works with insider preview build 19555. Surprised me. Had to to uninstall version 10.02, followed by a restart then installed the version 8.51. Installed and active desktop works without any issues. Not to mention, the ability to also run still jpg or png desktop wallpapers.
so Its a win win. I get to keep insider preview builds and still have deskscapes working. 👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
Great News.... How can I get my hands on it!

Never a good idea to give out any product links to places other than authorized locations.
We dont mind giving it out, just know:

Understood. The OD subscription is vital. I did not give out any keys for it. Just location for a download of the executable. Was just helping out fellow DS users who are puzzled by the non running DS on an insider build. We love them both.
I totally get it and it's appreciated by all - us included.

Just checking in. Now on version of Windows 10 19559.1000 and Deskscapes is still crashing. Any update on when an updated or beta version might be available? I'm really missing Deskscapes.
Nothing to report for Windows Insider \ DeskScapes 10 issues at this time. Work on it continues, however,

Just installed Build 19564.1000 and MS has fixed the desktop transition issue and DS 10 is working again. It is mentioned in the last line of the General Changes:We fixed an issue with wallpaper transitions on Build 19536+, which was affecting some third-party wallpaper apps. You can read more here
I myself have been waiting on the update to complete - as you likely know, it takes forever to DL / install.
Thank you for the update, ot7849.
The problems with DeskScapes 10 were finally fixed in Insider Build 19564.1005. Finally!!!
May I ask:
If DeskScape 10 does not work on Windows 10 Insider Builds, . . . Why does DeskScape 8 ????
okvb,
The issue has been addressed by MS in their most recent build 19564.1005.DS 10 is now working again as it should.
