sometimes i add or move an icon but just can't find it among a hundred other ones on three monitors. I can see it via File Explorer in the desktop folder.
any tips on finding which fenced section it resides in?
No help here. Have always had this same problem. I've had to delete and replace, a real unnecessary pain in the fence since day one.

Hello,
Fences is to help you organize your icons. So the best suggestion is to organize the icon and divide it into Fences according to its function. But if there are hundred of icons, it still best to search for it using Windows Explorer. Fences is not design to replace Windows Explorer function.
Not really sure what you mean by that. Please explain why you need to do that.

Basj, imagine you have a hundred desktop shortcuts across three monitors. You add a new shortcut but can't find it. Usually, but not always it goes to a sort of default fence. Then i drag it to where I want it.
it's when it doesn't go to the default fence that I find it easier open file explorer, desktop, sort by date, delete, than back to desktop and created. Is there a way via File Explore to move a shortcut to a specific fence?
No there is no option to do that at this moment.
I too have set up my fences to move all new icons/shortcut to a default temporary Fences which I will later move it manually elsewhere or delete it. I usually keep this temporary empty or minimum, so it is easier for me to notice new things in it. Did you set up your Fences in such a way too?
Thank you,

What I do if I cannot "find" an icon, which is likely hidden under something else, is to look in the Desktop folder, delete the item in question, and create a new one which (I "hope"), I will see and place as desired.
That is why it is best to set the rules for all new icons to go to a temp fences so it don't get hidden under another fences. As I mentioned/suggested in my previous reply. When in a fence the icon won't be hidden under another icon.
Ah, that explains why new icons usually want to the same folder. Have created a dedicated new fence for this. Thank you muchly.
Great, glad to help
I do not find how to create "Temp Fence". I do find the option to "Send new (multiple types of items) to this (new) fence."
Also, even when the item is not new, an old item will move and "hid". Sometimes, I can search and find it and sometimes it is easier to "Delete and replace".
I have never mastered the apparently random shuffling within fences and the individual icons not inside a fence. I just live with it. On balance it is a "keeper".
FYI As I have sight problems (two detached retinas), I have changed the screen to a black background, which yields yellow fence names and white item descriptions. It's weird at first, but becomes familiar and is much, much easier to read.
I found the default option.
Thanks. rao
