I had applied the animated wallpaper, "ColorSnails", to run on my desktop, which it did for over a week.
Since then I have tried to apply other animated wallpapers that I had downloaded from the website, but none of them will work.
So I clicked on “Disable DeskScapes” in DeskScapes to turn it off. Then I closed DeskScapes. Then I right clicked on my desktop, left clicked on “Personalize”, and I selected one of my images in My Pictures folder and clicked on it to “Set as a desktop background”.
I then right clicked on my desktop and clicked on “Configure DeskScapes” and it opens up displaying the still wallpaper as the current screensaver.
I then selected as an example, an animated wallpaper called “Beautiful Aurora Borealis”. But when I then click on “Apply to my desktop", "ColorSnails" starts playing in orange instead, both in the window, and on my desktop.
No matter what wallpaper I select from the Animated download menu the only wallpaper that appears in the window is "ColorSnails". Yet when I click on any one of the wallpapers in the Stills Download menu in DeskScapes the picture changes accordingly in the window to display it. When I then click on “Apply to my desktop” Deskscapes successfully changes my desktop to display the still wallpaper. But when I go back to the Animated menu and click on Downloaded, "ColorSnails" immediately appears in the window every time, and if I click on any other animated wallpaper to select it, "ColorSnails" keeps playing in the window, even though, the title printed in white changes to indicate I have selected a different wallpaper. And if I click on “Apply to my desktop” for any one of them, Deskscapes changes the still wallpaper back to "ColorSnails" on my desktop.
Nothing works! Help!

Make sure to re-download the latest version from you account. Reinstall that version after the purge's reboot. And reboot again after the installation finish. Retest and report back here.

My compliments to you for getting back to me so promptly within minutes, but it was 5 am and I had to get to sleep.
This evening I followed your purge and reinstall steps to the letter, ending with the reboot of the reinstallation.
When I reopened and reactivated DeskScapes 10, I am pleased to report that when I clicked on an Animated wallpaper to select it, ColorSnails DID NOT appear, however, a message appeared in the preview window saying, "Loading background preview". I waited 5 minutes. I repeated the selection but it continued to say, "Loading background preview". Since the name of the Animated wallpaper continued to display in white letters to the right of the preview window, I clicked on "Apply to my desktop" and the preview window immediately went black and my desktop went black. I disabled DeskScapes and my desktop immediately returned back to my regular still wallpaper selected from My Pictures. I right clicked on my desktop and selected "Configure Deskscapes" and it opened up displaying my still wallpaper in the preview window. I left clicked on a different Animated wallpaper and though Welcome to DeskScapes disappeared, and the name of the different wallpaper appeared in white letters to the right of the preview window, the preview window itself did not change, for it continued to display my still wallpaper. Therefore I clicked on "Apply to my desktop" and once again the preview window went black and my desktop went black.
Yet, as before above, when I went back to the DeskScapes menu, under Local/Stills/Downloaded and selected a Deskscapes still picture, in this case "SoundWave, the picture changed accordingly in the preview window, from black, to display it. When I then clicked on “Apply to my desktop” Deskscapes successfully changed my desktop to display the "SoundWave" still wallpaper on my desktop. But when I then tried an Animated wallpaper again..... black again.
Well, at least we made some progress together. I appreciate your effort to help me.

Not sure what version you have on now. But from what I know the DS10 beta did solve black screen issue for some users. It might also work for you. And there is some other solution in that thread you can try.

Since it is only 3am I had time to try your solution promptly this time, just like your usual prompt reply.
I refered to the thread. Had both version 10.1 and 10.0 installed on my PC. Removed both with RevoUninstaller. Downloaded and installed the beta version 10.2.
It worked for me, as you had hoped, and solved the black screen issue! DeskScapes 10 is working just fine now in the beta version.
