I recently changed my DeskScapes background to an animated city landscape. There were no issues applying this background or the settings. A few weeks later, I attempted to change my background and now DeskScapes is locked with this background and I am unable to change the animated image or settings. When I make an attempt, even the preview image does not change inside the DeskScapes application. Nor do the effects change regardless of settings.
The above said I have tried deleting the local image of the background that is stuck. Also, I have completed uninstalled and reinstalled DeskScapes. None of which resolved the issue. The only next logical option I can think of is to completely uninstall the Desk Objects suite and start from scratch. I've been avoiding doing so as I use just about every application in the bundle and would like to avoid having to setup and reconfigure all the features I'm using in the suite as none of the other programs are having any issues.
Thanks in advance if someone has a resolution or workaround! If my description above needs more context or details let me know and I'll do my best to answer any questions!

What is the difference of having DS 10 running with or without the services?
I reinstalled DS 10 beta 1. works fine without service running. I only have to disable DS to change dreams.
AzDude - I had tried those two settings and they made no difference, BTW, this was in my new local acct with only the DS service and MS services running.
Sean - I had purchased DS 8 in the past through my OD subscription.
Let's take a poll on how many people DS 10 doesn't work properly? I'll bet there are plenty, even those that don't speak up.
How many times do you have to uninstall and purge then reinstall, or create a new user account only to see it still doesn't work properly?
I can live with the inconvenience of having to disable to change dreams, but I should not have to.
I'm not giving up DS 10, I will just run beta 1, which for the most part works ok.
So I installed K-lite codecs under my local acct and that did nothing - still looking at a black desktop. I even stopped and started DS service - made no difference.
Hi S J N and everyone else reading this forum thread.
YES - I am having this problem and thought it was only me until I found this thread, so there is definitely something amiss with DS10.01 and the latest Windows updates. It worked fine until about 1 month ago, but being End Of Financial Year here in OZ, I was flat out and just put up with it...
So everyone else out there, post a reply because it is likely to be a lot more than an a handful of us experiencing this...

Also Monitor/Monitors @ what resolution/s
Hi,
Dual Monitors running at 1920x1080
Also at the same time, I noticed this happening with the start menu when I select a letter, then when I select back out the letters are still superimposed over the scrolling menu... very annoying...
I hope that helps...

Thanks DueWest reported to support
Single monitor @ 1366 x 768
Reinstalled Windows 7, DeskScapes 10 still works with errors. Returned to working DeskScapes 8.
I just spent a couple hours reinstalling / purging / deleting files / etc. for this same issue. Nothing I did had any effect at all on getting deskscapes to apply any new dream. Then I remembered that I had just yesterday changed the "Display Settings > Scale and Layout" away from the default 100% to 125%. I set it back to 100% and Deskscapes started working again.
I don't know if this will help anybody else that is having problems, but thought I'd share my solution just in case.
PS> I really need to get more sleep before troubleshooting. It took way too long to remember the thing I changed right before having problems...
I am on the list of people having problems with DS10. It will install and run fine for a while. Now it crashes on launch. Not much use when ya cannot even open app and make changes.

Run dual BenQ's 25" 2560 resolution.
Dcrew,
Did you do the Purge ?
,,,,,,,,, Windows 10 Home which version ... type in winver.exe in run to get it
Yes purged and reinstalled. so far so good.
That is interesting and I would like to see if that has any effect for others that are having trouble applying a dream here.
My display settings are at 100% and always have been, so that is not the cause but possibly another side issue in DS10.
Cheers,
dueWest
Verified my display scale is at 100%, ran DSPurge, rebooted and reinstalled DS - same issues, no preview of selected dream and screen background now black.
