As we work on the next version of Fences, we are interested in getting your feedback on what you'd like to see.
We are particularly interested in features that will make Fences more useful in your work and enterprise environment.
Please comment below with any ideas and suggestions you might have.
Thanks!
Yes, Fences can have icons ordered by user.
I like this, but I'm using also folder portals and there it cannot to be ordered by custom way - it can be great feature 'cause I'm using folder portals sometimes more than Windows Explorer. And allowing Fences same display options like folder portals is great idea - having icons, list, details, thumbnails etc.

PLEASE!!!
A "DEFAULT VIEW SETTING" for all Fences. (I like the detail view. not the gallery which is what all fences default to currently).
Quick Hide - ability to groups fences for different quick hide triggers e.g. click once - gives you one group of fences, click twice gives you another etc not sure click is the way to go but somehow be able to hide/unhide different group of fences.
Thanks
I'm new, sorry if the request already appeared her.1. The icon distance in fences are fixed, let it be also configurable or freely movable
2. The Fences slow down the Win10/64 startup. I've a 12 core processor PC and the Fences delay ~10 second the Desktop build up. Too much.
3. The fences territory must be not allow to position close to each other vertically.
4. The icon orders within fences' territory is in arrival order. No name or other orders configurable.

Perfect feature can be switching Fences on top of other inactive windows.
Of course toggle and possible to apply on selected Fences.
I have 2 suggestions:
1) Increase the time before the roll up colapse the fence, make it more friendly, specialy when navigating between folders...
2) On Folder Fences, keep the aspect (Details, List, etc) between folder and subfolder. I guess this is a bug...
Sorry about this awful english...
How about fixing the glitches in Fences. My biggest are: (1) you cannot set the "# of pixels between icons" so when icons have long titles they overlap causing a jumbled mess that makes Fences unusable, (2) I think this is related to my first glitch. The first letter of the icon title on the left side of the portals (boxes) gets cut off because the icon is too close to the left side of the box., (3) When you use Deskscape AND Fences at the same time, disable the "Desktop Icon Transparency" setting in Deskscape either automatically (it detects fences) or manually with a click box. It causes the issue with icons not disappearing when you double-click the desktop. Oddly, the box (portal) disappears but the icons remain.
Work with the built-in Windows 10 Virtual Desktop. Fences can be sticky to desktops.
Greendot, No sure what you mean by "Windows 10 Virtual Desktop."
That'd be sweet, great idea basj!
New user, only installed it yesterday and love it, but I have one issue which hit me almost instantly because of how I have the screen laid out.
Justification of the title text, center in my case looks ugly because I have them all "docked" on the right hand side of the screen, ideally I'd like to be able to set justification to right for those fences.
For left/right justification there should also be a "pad" option which allows you to pad with blank pixels so that you can tweak the position that it is justified to.
Agree - it is nearly req'd feature.
Seems like no one wants to add this to v3.x so I'd like the following in v4.0
When navigating folders within the fence can I request 2 features:
1. Enable the backspace key for navigation like in Windows Explorer - when in a sub-folder in a fence backspace moves you up a level.
2. Make the Up arrow in the title of the fence static in position - it's annoying as it moves around based on the length of the fence title and getting back to the root of the fence can be frustrating.
These are pretty basic features that really annoy me when using Fences - Please add these soon.
Backspace key works in my Fences 3.0.9.11.
I was able to fix the cutting off of the first letter of the icon title by increasing the size of the icons. However, I still think it is a nice idea to be able to set # pixels between icons so that you can change the size of the icons and it still space correctly.
1. Make the additional icons animation optional at most (or remove it), it is laggy and a lot of reviews disagree with it.
2. Integrate desktop pages with windows virtual desktops.
I would like to see the ability to have the right click drop down menu click->send to -> <fences windows>
I love Fences but I am finding that I would like to have a Sticky Note-type of application that I can put in a Fence. I group the applications I write in a Fence and would like to add a note to each one (Version, Update date). Thanks.
Sticky Note in Fences will be great - also don't exclude folder portals.
Sticky Note app in Fences, folder portals is great idea!
Feature Requests for V4:
1) A measuring grid that appears when moving the actual fences.2) Improvement in the fences spacing/snapping so it's easier to make them equidistant for better aesthetics.3) Fence color palate.4) [Not sure if this would be possible.] The ability set the view (icons, list, details) for each fence.

There are already many valid suggestions, here. Only very few, that would somewhat extend the basic idea of the product too much.I don't want to explicitly double all of them, but the following two: (just because it may not be obvious how many people are in this situation)
1.I am a Multi-Monitor user with different setups in office or when working from home. So I double #16/#17. A simple "autorestore" to what the user originally wanted, whenever a monitor is plugged back in would be nice. For some extra sugar, the user would be able to setup "rules"...2.Using a hot-key to bring the fences on top would also be nice. I am also burying my desktop under so many windows, which makes current fences really a limited experience. And one, that I haven't seen in this list already, but I think it's valid enough to serve many people. Imagine you have folders with many different file types, from which only a few are important and user-managed. The others are maybe temp files, files generated by some software (imaging VS .suo files and such). When looking at one such folder with a "portal", it might be nice to show only the important files. This would be easily doable, by setting up a filter, just like:*.sln;*.prj
I like that the fences roll down over desktop icons. It would be nice if the fence could be always on top, even over windows and open folders.
Almost a year's worth of wishlist items . . . any word on a feature list from Stardock?
Yes! Came here to make the same request. I keep having to move/minimize apps because fences open up behind them.
Similar to IngoAltair, I too would like to see filters in portals. This should support:
