Hi guys. Since my attempt to create a ship sharing hub for GOG users has blatantly failed and I created a couple new ship sets, I've decided to reorganize my releases and to create a new, massive pack that, from now on, will contain all the ship designs I create.
So, without further delay, I humbly introduce to you my GalCiv 3 Ship Design Expansion Pack
(you can find it here ---> https://www.nexusmods.com/galacticcivilizations3/mods/131 )
As you can see, the version 1.0 contains some of my previous works (which won't be reachable from the old links anymore) and some new ships I hope you'll appreciate.
If you have any comment, critic, suggestion or want to report bugs or issues just post here.
See ya for next versions of the pack and have fun!
Any chance on adding the ability to select these ship designs as a Ship Style in the Civilization Builder menu?
I'm working to add it in the first update of the mod (alongside various bug fixes), so stay tuned.
It may be a bit early, but version 2.0, the first update for my mod, is now available (download link in the first post).
As I said, this update contains the Shipset Template files, alongside a bunch of new designs and various bug fixes and redesigns for the old models (which is why I was able to prepare it so quickly, expect next updates to take some more time since thay'll add new shipsets and stuff).
Thanks for the update! Great Job!
Thanks for the appreciation
Remember, if you have any comment, suggestion, critic or want to report any bug or issue just post here (especially bugs and issues, I checked for any problem but it's possible I missed something).
Do you take request?
Well, if you want to suggest an idea or a theme for a new shipset I'm ready to hear it and to try to realize it.
Usually I choose a simple, generic idea (like "hull with a particular shape" or "equipment is placed in a peculiar way"), then I try to build the set around it.
Of course, you will be credited for the idea.
PM sent.
Loving the ships btw
A little update: right now I'm doing some brainstorming to find ideas for new shipsets. I found a couple interesting ones, but didn't start working on them yet.
In the meantime, if I got the inspiration, I put together some new stuff for the old sets, for example my first Cargo Hull, the Freighter for the Earth Confederation set. As you can see, the cargo bays are in the front part, followed by tanks for liquids or gases (ok, I know, it's kind of clichè and maybe you saw a couple thousands ships like it - I tried to come up with some original ideas but weren't able to put them together )
[Edit: darn, copy/paste doesn't work again for me To see the ship check this link ---> https://ibb.co/FD9zMz7 ]
Ok people, if you're checking the post "Post Your Gal Civ III Ship Designs!" you already know, for all the others I announce that I'm working on a new update for this mod, version 3.5.
This update will be quite big, as it will contain a new ship set and over 20 new designs for the old sets. Release is planned for mid-March, however I can't guarantee, since first I need to decide if I should make the mod "Retribution"-ready or not.
would you please make the YAMATO ? from ww2
thanks
Lil update: work on the update is proceding steadly.
However, now that "Retribution" has been released, I've got a question for those using my mod with the expansion: have you some problem with it (specifically with the shipset template files, as they lack the new ship classes added with "Retribution")?
As I promised, today I'm releasing the update 3.5 for my mod.
The highlights for this update are basically the arrival of:
- a new shipset, the Akros Sovereignty
- the first set of starbases, added to one the old sets
As always, you can reach it here .
This update does not contain the new ship classes introduced with "Retribution", so it may be possible that those using the expansion could have some issues with the mod. If it's so, please report it here or on the mod's page, so I can start working on fixing them
THANKS !!
Happy Easter folks! I hope you'll have fun today.
Just passing by to inform you that, even if I haven't started yet to work seriously on a new update, I'm tinkering with ideas popping in my mind from time to time, like this one for example (a prototype lvl 0 starbase - what you think of it?).
Nice Starbase.
Simple and very effective. I like it a lot!
Speaking of starbases, among the 4 types the Economic is the one I found the most difficult to design.
I mean, I think Mining and Military are the easiest to design, while Cultural is essentially a residential station. Instead Economic doesn't have a clear theme, because it can be use to boost Manufacturing (so you may imagine it as an orbital industrial complex), Research (and you may design it as an lab complex), Income (thus becoming an orbital shopping mall) or all of them simultaneously.
Usually what's your idea when you think about "Economic Starbase"?
For the most part I think of any large port facility, but with added industrial capacity. Processing local asteroid-acquired materials into refined and purified materials... producing high grade replacement parts for ships in the area, and otherwise processing shipments to and from the local planet/s.
That starbase looks nice indeed.
I never tried to create one myself - do we have to create a separate structure for each possible expansion of each type? Sounds like quite some workload...(which is why lazy me is shying away from it )
Not as such. This is the most efficient method...
1) Create a generic model for the generic unspecified core of a Starbase.
2) Create the full level 5 version of the starbase you want (econ lets say)
3) Remove components to produce the level 4 model. Then repeat to create the level 3 model... etc.
If you don't care about the visible progression of starbases being upgraded... you can just skip step 2 and use the same model for all levels.
A full set though... would be 21 unique models...
Generic X1
Culture X5
Military X5
Econ X5
Mining X5
But arguably, this is easier than it looks if you use the above method and is really 5 models.
Actually I do the opposite: I design the level 1 then I start adding stuff to create the various levels until I arrive at the level 5 model I pictured in my mind. I suppose this method is ok if you already have a pretty good idea on how you want to design the whole model.
Hey, thx guys- I guess I give it a try
Hi guys. I'm starting to tinker with some ideas for Drone Carrier models and I need your help to figure out a little thing: we know that the Ship Designer is not a very reliable source about the real attack/defense stats of a ship (since they depend on your research level), which means that a Drone Carrier (listed to have the same stats of a Tiny Kinetic ship) must have a quite high firepower (since it's a mid-to-late-game ship).
Since I was never been able to unlock it during my matches, anyone can tell me to which class of ships a Drone Carrier is generally comparable in terms of attack/defense? I'm asking 'cause I want to be sure to give my models a balanced look in terms of weaponry (if it has a firepower compatible with a Medium ship or lower too much and/or too big turrets are excessive, if it has higher firepower too few and/or too small turrets are inadequate).
