I've used fences for quite a number of years and always had this issue to some extent but put it down to the laptop I was using, however having just upgraded to a brand new i7 16GB lenovo X380 yoga the problem persists and it's quite annoying. When pressing the Win-D shortcut with fences enabled the whole system freezes up for a while (around 5 seconds) with the desktop wallpaper showing and no icons or fences, the screen then goes black briefly and the desktop reloads with the taskbar icons coming back one by one and the icons and fences rendering. When manually minimising each window this doesn't happen, not does it happen with fences disabled.Any ideas how to prevent this annoying behaviour?

as far as I know nothing new yet but we can check back with
support at that time .
I'm not sure I would want that under my clean boot.
Just doin my dooty when spellcheck fails.
I have the same issue . here is my information :
win10 10.0.17134 N/A Build 17134
ThinkPad x280
forcepoint endpoint
Not at this time - as far as we can tell, this is up to them to address.

I stopped the fixed point service on my system, still the issue exists.
I doubt that would be enough. A clean boot would tell a lot, however:

I also have this problem. It's also on a work laptop. It does have some security software running, but none that was mentioned on this thread.
I have another thought. Do you guys have roaming profiles on your PCs, which is kinda of like having your desktop on a Network Cloud? It allows you to log into different computers and still have your personal files on your desktop, documents, etc.
After reinstalling windows 10, uninstalling/ re installing Fences, Start10 and also Multiplicity, I have finally discovered what is causing long delays and even crashing Explorer when I tried to access from within a Fence.
In Fences 3.0 I created a folder portal which was mapped but is on another PC in my Home Network. It appears that wen that PC is turned off Fences itself causes Explorer to crash. When I disabled Fences Explorer behaves perfectly, when I reactivate it , it causes the problems. I am sure others must be having this proble,.
can anyone suggest anything to stop this from happening as I do have several PC's on my Network and it seems ridiculous that I must have them all turned on to use Fences!
You can try this solution : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#folderportalsempty

Hi Basj,
Thanks for the response. I followed the link but was unable to view the video as my PC wouldn't let me view it!!
Anyway, I have tried the method in it which helped a bit but if I clicked on any of the shortcuts in the newly created folder, explorer freezes for a period of time before I get a message telling me the shortcut is unavailable and asking me if I want to delete it.
I suppose the only way round it is NOT to have any folder Portals referring to other PC's on the network!!
Not really satisfactory though.

Hi everyone,
For my case, I met such issue on my working laptop, and it's with Forcepoint installed.
I've disabled all the services and startup items of Forcepoint in the begining.
But still crashing explorer, exactly the same phenomenon with floor #7.
I was blocked by password when trying to uninstall Forcepoint.
And our IT guy won't give me the password for sure.
So I tried to boot into PE, then remove all the Forcepoint drivers:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\cwNep.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\FpECAWfp.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\FpFile.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\FpProcess.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\Qip.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\WFPRedir.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\WsNetFlt.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\WsOMFlt.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\WsWfpRF.sys
And also removed the DLL files by Forcepoint in System32 folder:
C:\Windows\System32\QIPCAP64.dll
C:\Windows\System32\QIPOverlay.dll
Then issue solved, fenses is working properly now.
This post is just for your info and reference.

Hi again!
Just returning to this thread after all this time to say I've just paid for and setup fences 4.0.0.3 on a brand new work laptop and the issue still persists
I was really hoping that a fix for this would be in place by now, it's a pretty annoying bug!
To be fair though it does seemed to have improved a little bit. Pinning of apps to the left and right seems to work ok now. It's mainly pressing win-d that it doesn't seem to like for some reason.
