I installed Groupy and it is unusable in Excel. I have 2 documents open and have the 2 Excel windows grouped but when I use the arrow keys to try to navigate between cells on the active spreadsheet, it shifts me to the other spreadsheets. It's like the arrow keys are permanently mapped to shifting between the different files in the group. I have this problem whether hot keys are enabled or not. ALSO, when I try to use the mouse to navigate within an open spreadsheet, every time I click on a cell, it causes it to jump to the other document. There is no way for me to use Groupy the way it was intended.
This is on a Windows 10 device with Office 365 installed. Core i7 desktop with 32GB of RAM.
Hello try the purge and reinstall. Follow these steps https://forums.stardock.com/488142/groupy-support-faq#reinstalling
reboot and download the latest version from here http://storage.stardock.com/files/beta/Groupy1.12_rc_sd.exe
and install it.
Reboot again. And see if the problem get solve. Please report back. Thanks
It sounds like this is unrelated to Groupy and you have a keyboard key that the OS thinks is stuck down which when pressed with arrow keys causes it to switch focus to another window.
Groupy has no code to detect the arrow keys to switch between windows, but the apps themselves may well do.
That said please do ensure you are running Groupy 1.1 or later as the original 1.0 release could upset Excel with changing tabs and what was visible was not the active window on occasion.
I have version 1.1 installed and I don't see how my keyboard could be the problem since when I am in any other application (I only used Groupy with Excel), this doesn't happen. Also, the problem exists with mouse our arrow keys.
I have the same problem. It's happened with every release making Groupy unusable. I contacted Stardock directly but they just referred me to this forum. We've wasted our money unless Stardock check these posts and accept the issue's not isolated and fix the problem. I'm using Office365 and Windows 10 too. Hope it's solved soon as I only used it for Excel.
I love the concept of Groupy and when it works it is GREAT, BUT I have had a very similar set of issues with Excel (2013) on Windows 10. In addition, when I open Excel and then a file, my PERSONAL.XLSB macros are all present and work, however when I open a second file or start Excel afresh by double-clicking a file from the browser the macros are not available. I have gone into Excel to check disabled items and the macros are not disabled. Even excluding Excel from Grouping does not restore the macros. I have tried to uninstal but that seemed to fail as it is still running?!?
I'm getting the same problem. I have tried on two PCs and they both exhibit the same behaviour, jumping between windows, typing in a cell ends up elsewhere. It has got so bad I have uninstalled Groupy and am now only using Fences.
I think I might also have had the same issue regarding macros on Office 365. At one point I couldn't run any macros or even enter the macro editor. Reinstalling Office had no effect and I ended up completely rebuilding the PC.
So it definitely needs fixing... Happy to try again when it has. Guess it is dependent on the next Windows 10 release giving the same functionality
Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Would like to know what Groupy version your are running while having the problem. It is know that the jumping worksheet issues was solved.
Thanks
Basj,
Stardock Community Assistant.
I also have the same issue and I'm using v1.17, the lastest version.
Which issue you referring to?
Thank you,
Sardock Community Assistant
I have the same issue "fences151" outlined above and I too am on v 1.17
The jumping of worksheets or the macro ? BTW can someone post a video grab of the problem so we can see it.
Stardock Community Assistant
Hello, try to reinstall the MS Office or try to use another OS that would fit on your Excel. Hope it helps
the first post re this issue was back in April. The latest version hasn't resolved the problem. Microsoft is not the problem as the jump around only happens when Groupy is running. As it happens intermittently, a video grab would be pretty hard to get. Here's an idea....why doesn't Stardock accept that this is a bug and do a bit of testing with Excel? If we're all having this problem it shouldn't be too hard to recreate. I'm sure there are plenty of others with the same problem who aren't in this forum too. Do any of the Stardock programmers read these forums? If so, please respond.
Well, I did test it out on my pc. And the problem is, I can not reproduce it on my system. Anyway I have forwarded your problem to Stardock Support team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for ny updates. We appreciat your feedback and patience.

Try using multiple monitors with different resolutions. I have 1 4K, 1 1440P, and 2 1600x1200 and not only do these things happen but Word has similar issues to AND often suddenly tries to maximize the window across all my monitors (which is awkward given the substantially different resolutions)
There are many free apps to do such a thing - for example, ShareX is a phenomenal free app:
https://getsharex.com/
That assumes two things. That we have not tested in Excel (we have) and that it is reproducible for all (its not).
The two reports here are, however, enough for us to want to look at it. If you could supply the video, as well as a link to a test Excel workbook that it can be seen on, and instructions on how to reproduce it, we would be happy to look at it and appreciative of the effort.

I had Groupy 1.17.exe. This is on a brand new PC onto which I installed Office 365 64bit and it has the same issue as previous PC with similar configuration. It could be due to multiple monitors with differing resolutions and can look into that. Installing a different OS is not a helpful suggestion. I have Windows 10 1803 and cannot change. It is unlikely that I can get a video grab. The files in question are often large and I cannot send them across due to confidentiality reasons, but I can end up trying to edit a cell on one file, hit enter and then the current cell on the other file can get updated instead. Often cursor keys stop working and it gets in a mess. I find that sometimes minimising the window and then restoring can overcome the issue for a few minutes. Usually, when I start work, all is fine and then after an hour or so, things go haywire. If I close all the Excel files and reopen, I can continue, but this is often inconvenient.
The jumping of worksheets in Excel, when typing in one separate, another separate spreadsheet receives the input.
YES!!! It has only recently started doing this for me but when it happens it is a complete deal killer. The only thing Groupy seems to do without issue is allow me to have multiple Windows Explorer tabs grouped but even that has a flaw: it doesn't remember the last set of tabs you had open (which Clover did fine).
Would like to check if everyone with this problem is using multiple display with various resolution and different scaling? That information will be helpful for Stardock Team to look into the problem.
As a user of groupy myself, together with big excels files, I can honestly say that I can not reproduce the problem. But I am only running two monitor with 1920x1200 with 100% scaling on both monitor. I do not saying the problem is not there. I think Stardock team need more information to reproduce it over their side and start looking into the problem. Maybe all of you guys can list down, like Mr. AdamLeonard did, their display setup with its setting.
Also FWIW, one of the 1600x1200s is run by an integrated Intel graphics card and the other 3 are run by an NVidia GTX 1060.
This issue is on a 2017 Surface Pro, single screen, 200% scaling 2736x1824 resolution.
Thank you for your input. Could you test, if possible, if the problem still there if you running at lower scaling? Any information provided will help.
