CursorFX is not working correctly with my Windows 10 desktop. No matter what icon theme I choose, even CursorFX Default, the Standard Select icon does not appear in front. If I select Windows Standard everything works perfectly.
If the window is transparent enough, I can see it behind. I am attaching two examples.
In the first, you can see the R/L stretch icon peek from behind the opaque Windows 10 menu. If I moved it to the left, I would see the tail of it as it turned back into the Standard Select, then it would disappear. I could still select items, but telling what is highlighted is not easy.
In the second, captured as the wireless networking menu was coming up, you can see the grayed out Standard Select icon behind the transparent window here, just to the left of the Recycle Bin icon. Once the menu fully comes up, it is more opaque, so hard to see the icon even behind the blank areas. If I moved it to the edge, as above, I would see the stretch icon peek out. If I moved it behind one of the selectable choices (like WiFi, Airplane mode, or Mobile Hotspot, the icon changes to a hand, which is also behind the context menu and nearly impossible to see.

I have noticed this with every other CursorFX theme I have tried and I have noticed it with other 3rd party applications, not just Windows desktop apps/menus.
I have a Radeon RX480 video card. I own other Stardock desktop apps, but none other than CursorFX are currently installed.
I hope someone in the community, or Stardock can provide a solution so CursorFX works.
Any other idea here. I have tried all suggestions at no avail.
Need more information on your problem.
1. Windows version, Please use Winver.exe to have the actual version numbers.
2. Cursor FX version
3. Monitors resolution and scaling applied.
Thank you,

Currently up to date: Windows 10 Version 1809 OS Build: 17763.292.
Cursor FX 2.16
Dual monitor (Extended)
Laptop: Scaling 125% resolution : 1920X1080
External (Acer) Main monitor No Scaling Resolution: 1920X1080
Just for a try. Try setting that laptop display to 100% and reboot. retest it. Did it solve the problem?
That does not solve the issue. I also used your purge file and reinstalled it while the scaling was at 100 % on both monitors at no avail.
Hello,
I have forwarded your report to the Stardock support team for their review and recommendations.
Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates.
We really do appreciate your feedback, thanks.

Sorry to hear the two of you are having trouble.
It is a mystery to us why you are seeing this lone issue when everyone else is not. Perhaps detailing what you have in common would be prudent.
Short of that, we are not sure how to proceed, as again, we are not seeing it reported en masse nor can we reproduce it.

I have tried three more changes to see what effect they might have:
No effect
Since I am now on the developer build, it will be harder to compare my results for future variations. However, if I achieve a positive result or learn anything I believe can be applied generally, I will continue to share.
Any luck on your end?
They are not the only ones with this problem. I am having the same thing. All of my software is up to date.
That is unfortunate that they are three people with the issue but the mission is the same - we need to know what 3rd party software or settings you three may have in common that is keeping the cursor behind certain menus.
Did you install in the default location, or override the location when installing?
No. I had installed CursorFX to an alternate location and when I uninstalled it and reinstalled it to the default location and it is working as it is supposed to.
Thank you
reinstalling did help but, in GIMP the cursor sill going under context menus after installing to Program Files (x86).
I'm hoping that Stardock will now spend some time redoing CursorFX to work properly in Windows 10. I've been using this for so many years that it was downright difficult when I had to disable it. For now, I've had to buy a few custom cursors that work in the native windows mouse formats so, am getting by with nice, even with smooth, detailed animation ..but, it's still not the same level of functionality & features that CursorXP/CursorFX have so, lacking anything truly special.
Anyway, now that they've gotten the bugs out of the DeskScapes, I'm hoping they'll spend some time and give us a revamped CursorFX built to work with Windows 10, perfectly. ..so, Fingers Crossed.!

CursorFX does one thing, 90% of which is done by Windows. I'd certainly like to hear some commitment from Stardock that some effort will go to fix the problem in the code rather than suggesting users just avoid using proffered install options.
Later versions of Windows require applications which appear on top of special OS screens like the start panel in Windows 8 to be installed in secure locations such as program files.
It is possible to have other locations defined in the OS as a secure location and this is not an issue on Windows 7 which is probably why the installer offers the option to pick another location.
Thank you Neil; could you please say where you define "other locations" in the Operating System settings or, where I can do more reading on that topic?
I'll add to my previous comment that all the text boxes in GIMP the cursor vanishes as an example the input boxes for changing the width and height when making a new file, a big one is the Script-Fu console the cursor vanishes on the text input forms.
This is with GIMP installed to Program Files.

That rather sounds like there is no cursor set for the input field cursor rather than the install location issue.
Does the same happen with cursors in Notepad?
Where did you buy additional mouse cursors? There is a total lack of support by Stardock on this matter.
You can download More cursors from here : https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/cursorfx
None of your cursorFX files work with my windows 10 system. Out of curiosity I downloaded a few cursors from the internet which comes as a jar or zip file. When unzipped there are many *.cur files and one *.inf file, this inf file does install the cursor theme and I see it under the mouse properties files. When selected it works just fine. So the bug is related to the way yout cursor fx gets installed or something related to it....
For now..I wish you acknowledge there is something wrong with the software and provide a proper fix.
Before you ask I am already in WIndows 1903 (13862.145) which would be the latest version.
I have already tried your purge files and every work around I coudl think or read of.
Regards.
Not sure what is the problem. Is what your saying all the cursors that come with CursorFX don't work. While theme that you downloaded work?
If that the case could you video grab the problem and share the link here. We are interested to see what actually the problem.
Just see post number 1. That is my problem exactly.
