[Windows 10]
HOW do people use Fences if it's not 'always on top'? At least there should be a taskbar icon that shows all fences when clicked.
Can WindowsFX somehow help me use Fences?
Thanks
nat
Fences works on the desktop level, and at this time it's not possible to show fences above other windows.
Is this ever going to be a thing where the fences show on top of anything else? Even if it is a desktop level program, could the active window have a higher display priority than other open windows?
I also would like to see the icons in fences show up on top when needed. It needs administrator privileges.
Same here. Purchased Fences as an alternative to the ageing Object Dock.
Without Fences always being on top the whole thing is pretty useless to me.
At this stage Object Dock in my view is still way superior to Fences. It works for me in Windows 10 without any problems.Fences looked like a nice alternative. I should have used the trial version first to see what it did. However with the 25% discount I jumped in. Silly me.
I guess Object Dock may just have to keep running for a while yet until we can get an option to allow Fences Always on Top.
I'd be awfully grateful if you could change this behaviour.
I'm a great fan of Stardock utilities but this one only works for me because I have a giant UHD screen and can afford the desk space. I have to put rolled up fences on one side of the screen and avoid having windows in that area. It works pretty well but it would be 100% better to have the rolled up fences across the top of the screen.
Hello,
I have forwarded your report to the Stardock support team for their review and recommendations.
Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates.
We really do appreciate your feedback, thanks.

I fully agree with this comment.
Please consider this implementation as a priority !!
Thank you.
I agree. I just installed fences a week or so ago and I have auto hide pull down menus for my frequent Programs, Games, Files & Documents, Links and some Folder shortcuts. It is frustrating that when I hover over the pull downs they open behind my already opened programs. It would be huge to have at-least an option enable always on top.
Microsoft Windows has never had its icons on top of open windows programs, ever.
Fences is a program to corral Microsoft's icons so they are still going to be at the level (z-order) that Microsoft has decreed.
Changing the z-order of the drawing of Microsoft's icons is beyond the perview of the program and is thus unlikely to change. ..
Windows provides a taskbar icon to access icons....it's the "show desktop" icon.....
