I noted 2 bugs with Groupy 1.02 when using with Excel 2013
1. Sometimes when I have several Excel files grouped in tabs, when I'm typing into a cell, suddenly what I'm typing is not being entered into the foreground file but I realise moments later it was typed into a background file. This shift of focus happens randomly without any apparent pattern. It's dangerous because I could be overwriting content in another file since it's not visible to the user. Not sure if you can understand what I'm describing...?
2. When opening an Excel file attachment from an email, it will normally launch in Protected View. Now assuming I have several Excel files grouped together including one in Protected View. Now, when I click on "Enable Editing" to disable protected view, the result is an empty window for that particular file. I have a taken a video of this issue which I can send to Stardock if I can have the email address.
Here what happening in my system.Start Excel. you will get list of recent open file list. If you click any from the list that file will open.if you want to open a new file, you can simply file -> open a file then a new tab open to the left of your last open files. both file are in group. As long as you have that 3 dot menu set to automatically group excel.
Yes that works for me as well.
What didn't work for me was using the + sign to add a new tab. After my earlier post, I reset and then remade the group. Now the + also works as shown in the video. So all is good on this front. Thanks.
The issue with the window resizing (when the group is maximized before adding tab) continues.
Great to know that part working now.
Regarding the windows resizing. We will look into it.
We think we have found why you are having issue opening PP with errors. You are likely using FireFox or Opera that has a 'Run' option as well as a 'Download'. You appear to be using the former. I would be almost sure that if you used the download option, then opened, it would work as expected without errors. Please confirm.
By default, MS Office apps have protected view(s) on from anything that comes from 'the Internet'. With my test below, I could not reproduce what you are seeingWin10Outlook Client:http://sd.stardock.com/Support/games/GC3/crashes/2018-03-19_11-51-25.mp4Outlook Web:http://sd.stardock.com/Support/uploads/2018-03-19_12-02-14.mp4If I do not have the conditions correct, what you have, I need to know what I am missing.
For Excel, to trigger the issue, you need to open at least 2 files, of which at least one is in protected mode.
For Powerpoint, just opening one file will trigger the error.
My Protected View settings are the same as what you show on the video.
I have taken 2 videos showing the problems, but can't figure how to post them here. Alternatively, can you provide an email I can send the files to.
I'm not using Firefox nor Opera.
I'm opening Powerpoint file attachments from Outlook (desktop) or opening the files on the network directly from Windows Explorer.

BTW, Would like to know your OS. Windows 7? or Windows 10.
Ignore above, just notice you on Windows 10,
Need to know antivirus, Firewall, or any other monitoring software such as anti malware etc etc.
Excel and powerpoint add on/plus in installed if any.
Hello,
I think I found a solution. At the bottom of the page there is a suggestion. Please try it and let us know if it work for you. Try for both Excel and PPoint too please.

Two further problems with Groupy and Excel (O365).
Any suggestions?

I can't reproduce this issue. Please take make a video screen grab to let us view and understand your problem. Thanks
Uninstall groupy, REBOOT, install groupy again.
It sounds like the files may not have all been replaced as that was an issue in earlier groupy builds but was resolved in 1.1.
I still cannot reproduce the issue:

But I will log it. For the time being, and this should work for you, download / 'save as' the file instead of running it directly from the mail client or editing your Trust Center settings to avoid it alltogether:
Same here. This is one of the issues I reported in the very first post in this thread.
Tried for both Excel & Powerpoint. No difference.

That's disappointing. I hope you'll not give up here...
"Save as" is not a practical workaround for files on a network folder. It means I have to copy that file onto my PC before working on it, then saving it back to the network folder after I finish. And further, if I don't delete the file I "saved as", I would create many duplicate files and potentially creating version control issues with my other colleagues who also need to use the same file.
For Powerpoint, just to highlight that it is working fine in v1.02. Something was changed between v1.02 and v1.1 which has caused this problem.
Could you please provide us with this video too. I used to have this but it was solved on the latest update for me.
BTW have you tried Neil suggestion on reply #62

Thanks, that sorted it out.
Thanks for reporting back.
I have written a mini Groupy purge that can be used to totally remove it (save the saves groups - they will stay) and is a bit more thorough than the general uninstall:

Here is another issue with Groupy and Excel which took me more than one week of trying different things to narrow down to Groupy being the culprit.
Over week ago I noticed that all my macro-enabled Excel files which include VBA procedures in the File-Open routine (i.e., steps that fire and run as soon as you open a file) stopped working. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was causing the issue and naturally I was thinking it was an excel-related issue. After many many tests and lots of research, I was able to figure out that it was a timing issue; meaning, excel was taking too long to open and therefore it was somehow not firing on the File-Open procedures and just going on to opening the file normally (not the desired result). Long, long story short, it was Groupy that was causing the problem.
As one of the things to try to find a solution, I finally got to point of testing if Groupy is causing the problem and sure enough, when I turned off Groupy, all of my Excel files with the File-Open routines fired and ran properly. I tested this at least a dozen times with several different files by turning Groupy on and off and the behavior was consistent: everything fine with Groupy off and the same problem over and over again with Groupy on.
I am not sure if there is a solution to this or not. At this time, I have to give up on using Groupy (unfortunate since I like it if it works properly and it really helps my productivity). I have had one other issue with Groupy around the fact that the Chrome browser will not stay in a group of browsers. I started another post about the Chrome issue a couple of months ago and while Groupy support has been responsive, I don't believe a real solution has been offered. These two specific issues are in addition to some of the other random strange behavior I see when Groupy is on such as Excel freezing quite often, flickering windows here or there, flickering taskbar from time to time, strange behavior when minimizing or maximizing windows or using "Windows + Arrow Keys" hotkeys to move windows around. With Groupy off, none of this behavior exists.
Again, this is all unfortunate since the idea and some of the working features of Groupy are great, but it is way too buggy at this stage and I will have to live without it until a stable version is rolled out.
If anyone has an solutions to some of the problems noted above, I would love to hear about them.
Thank you.
I have forwarded your report to the Stardock support team for their review and recommendations. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates.
We really do appreciate your feedback, thanks.
If you change them to manually run (you trigger them), or delay them with 'Wait' or 'Sleep', does it work then? I am not asking you to change them permenantly, I just want to know if they work to solve the problem it its a timing issue.
Yes, all procedures work and run if triggered manually. The issue is definitely a timing issue. I haven't tried the wait or sleep option; I will try and report back.
Could you please provide us with this video too. I used to have this but it was solved on the latest update for me.BTW have you tried Neil suggestion on reply #62
I uninstalled Groupy using the Purge batch file, then reinstalled the new version v1.12.
I am still experiencing the same issues with Excel (protected view and typing into cells in background file) and Powerpoint (protected view).
I don't think a video will help you much. Firstly, the issue comes up randomly, so I need to have the video on constantly like a CCTV to capture the occurrence. Secondly, the issue just cannot be seen on video. Meaning, if I'm typing text on the keyboard into a cell in Excel and nothing appears on the cell, but instead the text is being typed into a cell in a background tab, on video, it just like nothing is happening.
