I noted 2 bugs with Groupy 1.02 when using with Excel 2013
1. Sometimes when I have several Excel files grouped in tabs, when I'm typing into a cell, suddenly what I'm typing is not being entered into the foreground file but I realise moments later it was typed into a background file. This shift of focus happens randomly without any apparent pattern. It's dangerous because I could be overwriting content in another file since it's not visible to the user. Not sure if you can understand what I'm describing...?
2. When opening an Excel file attachment from an email, it will normally launch in Protected View. Now assuming I have several Excel files grouped together including one in Protected View. Now, when I click on "Enable Editing" to disable protected view, the result is an empty window for that particular file. I have a taken a video of this issue which I can send to Stardock if I can have the email address.
I have made support aware of your issues. Thank you.
I have had this issue as well, with disastrous results.
Using Groupy with Microsoft Excel is a disaster. It freezes Excel window forcing me to close all open Excel windows. Also, Groupy does not work well with Remote Desktop Connection Manager. It seems to be ok for some time but then the session window menu becomes transparent and my mouse movement and mouse clicks are sent to the background session window instead of on the foreground menu. I personally use these two applications a lot and Groupy is useless with respect to working with these applications. Please fix these issues.
What version of Excel, what version of Windows, and what version of Groupy?
I am using Excel 2013. One other issue I noticed is I have enabled to "group newly opened windows if th CTRL is held down whilst opening them", but this feature is not working for me. Thanks!
Have you tried the 1.1 beta of Groupy as this has changes with respect to how it handles office applications.
I have 1.09 beta, but I will try 1.1 beta.
Another issue:
I selected automatically group identical windows together unless in another group and I added windows explorer (explorer.exe) to the automatic application groupings as I want only windows explorer to be automatically grouped, but when I open notepad Groupy is automatically grouping all notepad instances also. I want to automatically group only windows explorer, why is Groupy not working in this case? Thanks!
PS I looked for 1.1 beta, but it is not available in My Downloads. Where can I download it from?
Have you checked your current groupy version? Mine already on 1.1 BETA. I turn on Automatically check for updates.
My Groupy version is 1.1 beta.
How do I get v1.1 Beta? I am still on 1.02. When I click on Check for updates, it replies that "No updates for Groupy have been found".
Have you turn on the "Automatically check for updates"?
I have 1.1 beta. There are 5 issues related to automatically grouping windows.
1. Windows explorer automatic grouping works, when a new windows is opened it is added to existing windows explorer group, but the group of windows is reduced from maximized state to a size of 4x5 inches and I have to maximize it again. This happens with every new windows explorer window added to the group.
2. Automatic grouping of windows has odd behavior with Excel. When I open an Excel file (automatic grouping of windows enabled), Excel always shows 2 tabs: one actual file in one tab and another a blank white screen in other tab. This happens even though I excluded Excel from automatic grouping. PowerPoint works just fine. MS Word is not working correctly, there is no tab or the "+" to add a new tab when I open MS Word.
3. "Automatically exclude from auto grouping all" option is not working. For instance, I selected notepad.exe to be automatically excluded from auto grouping and it shows up in the exclusions list as "Never automatically group", but when I open multiple instances of notepad they are automatically auto grouped.
4. After resuming from sleep, windows that were maximized lose the maximized state and window size is shrunken down, both scrollbars appear. This happens for both visuals settings for where should Groupy position the tabs: "Combine if possible" and "Always place above".
5. The way auto grouping works is when it is enabled, by default all windows are automatically grouped unless they are excluded from auto grouping. This is bad design because I have to exclude every window I don't want to auto group which means tens of application windows. Best design would be to not auto group windows unless a window is added to allowed list (sort of like whitelist). This way I define only windows to be auto grouped and not have to add tens of application windows to exclusion list.
Hope Stardock fixes all these issues.
Yes I have

Betas can always be found in your account if they are available.
Got it, thanks
Will someone from Stardock technical support please care to respond to my queries? Thanks!
Hello,
I'm sorry for your problems. I've hilite your problem to our CM support team, hopefully someone will come and give you a better respond.
Having spent just a short while on v1.1 Beta:
1. The 2nd issue I raised regarding Protected View is still there in this version.
2. As venkum also noted, "Automatically exclude from auto grouping all..." option is not working for Explorer , Powerpoint and some other applications. This was fine in v1.02.
Thank you for the extensive reports. While text it good, have you made any videos of the issues and how to reproduce them? Any you have would go a long ways in helping us identify any issues.
Again, thank you for the feedback.
Thanks for responding, but I am very disappointed in the quality of Groupy. All issues I mentioned and from others on this forum about Groupy are very obvious and can be reproduced very easily. It is very shocking to me that Stardock failed to do fundamental and basic testing of Groupy. Visual settings and application grouping settings are not working like they are supposed to. Stardock should have also tested Groupy's compatibility with commonly used applications such as windows explorer, microsoft office applications, etc. There are too many issues that need to be resolved. At the moment, the only thing Groupy is good for is showing tabs on applications which is available in other softwares too. At the moment Groupy does not have a functioning product differentiator. At least get the functionality (already present in Groupy) working right.
Another issue: Groupy is not working with Adobe Acrobat application. Groupy is not grouping Adobe Acrobat application windows.
Hello, I have forwarded your report to our Development Team for their review and recommendations.
I cannot, however, provide a timeline for a response or resolution. You will be notified when one is available.
We really do appreciate your feedback, thanks.
BTW, I just got notified that a new version of Groupy is due very soon. Which address a lot of things including excel.
V1.1 of Groupy installed and can't add Acrobat DC to a group.
Acrobat DC is excluded
