I have been using Groupy for a few days and really like it plus it has been functioning as expected for the most part. The one issue that keeps happening is when I have a group of several browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, etc.) it all works fine except randomly (but always) Chrome jumps out of the group and I have to re-attach it to the group. I am not sure what event actually triggers this, but it always happens after a few minutes when i am working on something else out of my browsers group so I find that Chrome is not in the group when I return to.
One other less significant issue with the same group is that if I have the group minimized and then want to return to it by clicking on one of the open browsers in the taskbar, the entire group always expands (opens) to only a 1/2 of the screen size, not full screen.
Any help or sharing any similar experiences with these issues will be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Kaveh
The second issue is resolved in the 1.01 beta you can download.
On the first issue, it should only be removed from the group if the window is hidden or closed. Are you watching fullscreen videos in chrome at any point or using their special fulscreen mode?
Neil, thank you for your reply. No, I definitely did not watch any videos (full screen or otherwise) in Chrome and this issue kept happening. I have tried a few more times since my original post (group a few browsers including Chrome) and sure enough, Chromes keeps jumping out of the group.
Thank you.
There is definitely an issue with Chrome staying in the group. I tried this a few more times since my last post and sure enough, Chrome just does not like to stay in the group. To test it in as simple a fashion as I could, I have had 4 browsers (Opera, Firefox, Vivaldi and Chrome) grouped for at least 24 hours. All other 3 browsers have stayed in the group with no problems. But, I have had to re-group Chrome at least 1/2 dozen times even when I was off doing something else only to come back and find that Chrome is out of the group. It is always still open and functioning fine, but off by itself.
I would really appreciate a solution to this problem since as I am sure you can imagine, it is really annoying and defeats the purpose of what Groupy is supposed to do.
There seems to be bug and the same problem with Chrome keeps happening. I have now tried it on two different machines and they both experience the same issue. I am now running version 1.01 and it has the same exact behavior as 1.0 on this issue.
If anyone else is experiencing this same problem please share so I know I am not the only one.
By the way, it is interesting to me that this only happens with Chrome itself and not other Chromium-based browsers.
this problem continues... can anyone help???
A new version of Groupy is not far off from release...
Thanks for the response, sdRohan. I will anxiously await release if the next version.
I updated to Groupy 1.02 yesterday and the issue discussed above has not occurred in the last 24 hours. So, so far so good and overall this version of Groupy seems more stable. Thank you and I will post again if the issue with Chrome jumping out returns... I certainly hope not.
A couple of days later and sorry to say version 1.02 didn't fix this problem. Chrome keeps jumping out of the group. Same exact behavior on two different devices. Any suggestions?
I am really not making this up. Groupy works great with all of my several browsers grouped, except this problem with Chrome which keeps jumping out. I have tried so many different ways of grouping, sizing and resizing and still the same problem happens consistently. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?
Does this happen with incognito Chrome instances? If it is random, it may take some time to see, however, I (personally) would like to see if an extension you have is causing an issue.
No, I do not use incognito for Chrome or other browsers. Yes, I do have several Chrome extensions and yes this happens randomly. Thank you.
Would be interesting to see list of your Chrome extensions.
While you may not, I would like to see if you could test with them - meaning, if all you have are Chrome Incognito windows grouped, can you still reproduce the issue?
OK, I will test to see if it is Chrome extension related and let you know in a couple of days... Thank you...
I gave it a good couple of days of testing and unfortunately, the same issue persists even with Chrome Incognito. I tried this on two different computers and in both cases I opened and grouped Chrome incognito and sure enough Chrome jumped out of the group by itself. Three other browsers (Firefox, Opera and Vivaldi) that were grouped stayed together with no problems. Chrome is the only one with the problem and now we have confirmed that it is not caused by a Chrome extension. Pleeeeeease help resolve this problem.
Hello,
I have hilite your problem to CM support Team Main, you have to wait for Monday when Stardock Main come on. Please be patient. Thank you.
Thank you, basj.
I don't know if this helps StarDock at all, but.... (and If my memory serves me correctly), Early descriptions from Google:
I am not a programmer. I am not educated in computer science(s). Greg.
Any update on this? Please.
We have noted the chrome problem. But as mentioned just above your last post... its likely a Google Chrome problem.
Thanks basj. Then, does this mean Groupy will never be fixed or be able to work for Chrome?
A new version of Groupy is due out very soon. Lets see if you still have the issue after.
Sounds good. Thank you for the response sdRohan.
