Is ObjectDock no longer supported?? If not, why is it still being sold?
I just bought ObjectDock and I'm very disappointed with the performance on Windows 10. Every time I mouse over it, it takes ages to respond and it's all clunky and clearly struggling to work. I thought they would have updated it by now only to realize that it's pretty much dead and unsupported.
Edit: Ok renaming the 2 files mentioned above worked like a charm and so now I'm happy. I also purchased Deskscapes. Cheers.
The system requirement list that ObjectDock is not supported on Windows 10.
The Object Desktop suite (which ObjectDock is not a part of) should be mostly compatible with Windows 10.

Well I guess this is a dead issue but I'll dive in. I'm running Windows 7 ultimate 64 (I like it) and object dock plus 2 (I like it too). My weather docklet just stopped working a few days ago and of course tried all the old fixes as Ive been using OD for years and nothing has worked. I'm assuming its a server issue as it was before and, while it definitely is not the end of the world, it is a nice feature. Has anyone had this issue recently and, if so and it was resolved, what did you do? If not, is there a different weather docklet compatible with od still around?
Thanks!!
I am sad to see they are simple not supporting this great software. Rocket dock just does not compare. the weather docklet was one of my favorite parts of the dock and that is dead now.
Winstep Nexus Ultimate has a weather docklet that has been working well for me. In fact, I generally like the software better than Object Dock and it is stable in Win10. My main complaint about the Winstep product is that is doesn't do as good a job of showing you open programs and it puts those that it does show on the right. Despite several request, the developer refuses to provide an option to move them to the left, where they are in Object Dock.
ObjectDock is triggering the anti cheat engine of Fortnite wich results in not be able to play the game when I unload ObjectDock the game is playable again
As much as I would have liked for Winstep's Nexus to work for me, on my system, it was very buggy and crashed allot. I really really HOPE that Stardock gets off of their cans and either updates Object Dock to work on newer OS' installations or build a new type of an app + docking system. They must know there are allot of us out here that really need and want this sort of software for our systems.
Oh how I wish I'd seen this thread before buying 2 copies. Not that $10 is a big deal, but I actually upgraded a machine to Win11 (after some rudimentary testing on Win11) because of the inability for Win11 to display a Toolbar on the Taskbar like versions 10 and prior. ObjectDock was the perfect answer. Now I'm noticing the glitchy behavior (pauses for up to 30 seconds) that I didn't catch in those quick tests.
Dear Stardock: Please update ObjectDock - it is so useful. I was ready to buy a license for my team because it solves a problem for Win11 users in a high-productivity environment.
I wish Fences had the ability to contain sub fences - that would make life so simple. Then I came across Nexus Ultimate and the upgrade to Winstep Extreme (why not just call them Nexus Ultimate and Nexus Pro instead of tagging them as two different applications given that one is just an upgrade of the other, but that's another story). Extreme seems to solve the problem for me but I'm having stability issues with it.
So back to Stardock I come searching for a solution and then I found Objectdock. I thought for sure I now had just what I was looking for until I read this thread about it not being updated. I join your request for Stardock to revive OblectDock or incorporate it into Fences even if means a price increase.
I went with WinStep for the Dock: http://winstep.net/
I still use Start11, which is an excellent start menu replacement for Microsoft's stupid moves.
I have winstep working on two win 10 pro computers - running into stability issues with it on one of them - keeps disappearing or turning off some of the selected features.
On Win 11, does winstep take care of the win 11 taskbar issue or do you still need start11 and winstep to have the taskbar at the top of the screen?
Winstep Xtreme has Nexus, Workshelf, and Nexstart. Nexstart has its own taskbar which is not the same as the Windows taskbar, but is visually very similar, and a start menu which differs from the W11 start menu, but which is just as good. For some time it has flickered on my system, so I'm using the W11 taskbar with WB11 and Start11 as well as Workshelf and the Nexus docks. In any case, to skin the Windows11 Start menu you would need Start11.
Winstep, nexuse, workshelf, nexstart, whatever, is too buggy to be useful. It starts fine, but then portions disappear from the screen. Casn't be resurrected without a restart. I'd rather have a program with fewer working features like stardock than a bloated non-working swiss army knife like Winstep Extreme.
Have you visited Winstep's forum to ask about your problems with the program and whether/when an update/fix os coming? By the way, it's W11 that's causing Winstep's problems. Never have I seen acorporation destroy a functional, excellent taskbar as was in W10 and wreck it deliberately in W11. To what end? So that in W12 it can be changed into a dock? You have to wonder if it's just to sell PCs, and a new OS.
yes, i visited the forum. An arrogant moderator called me "ignorant" for not being up on all their techno groupie nomenclature. I immediately let the developer know and removed the program from both of the computers on which it was being used. I won't tolerate such nonsense.
And it is not W11 that is causing the problems because I use win10 pro.
Sorry you had that experience. The dev and owner is a personal friend and he wouldn't have treated you that way...what can I say?
I told the dev of my bad experience on his forum. He just said he shouldn't be blamed for what his moderators do. I told him that I have run my own business for 40 years and the one thing I learned early is that your worst employee becomes the face of your business to the person they interact with.
Since this thread is just called "ObjectDock", I'm hoping this is a good place to ask this so I don't need to start a new thread. I recently downloaded an OD Background that also included png's to be used as separators. Since I've never come across this before, I'm not sure what to do with them. Where do I copy them so I am able to use them when I use the background they came with when the time comes? I've scoured my ObjectDock install folder where all the zoomers, tabs and tile get put to be used, but I could not clearly determine where I should put those files.
Could somebody please help me with this?
Thanks.
Hello,
I really not sure on this one, its been a long while since I last do ObjectDock theme. But try looking around this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\ObjectDock\Backgrounds
