This game is good but why do I have to scroll like an insane maniac to scroll through the planet improvements, while the lists in the outliner scroll correctly? Why are said improvements not sorted?
Why do I use the mouse wheel button to pan the map on some views of it, but that same button rotates it on another view?
Why does a ship joining a fleet sometimes appear first in the fleet's list, and sometimes last?
I had more, but I am writing this in the steam overlay and now the game stopped working, so I'll add more stuff later after I restart it.
Oh wait, can we get autosave by time instead of by turns? Autosave every 5 turns when they take 3 seconds each isn't super useful, but it is terrible when they take 20 minutes each...
I second this list, especially the first item. Carpal tunnel doesn't look like much fun... scroll wheel sensitivity could be a slider added in the options somewhere.
Thing is, it's not even super low everywhere, it varies from list to list...
Another thing to add... Fleet management... There is a "manage" button, but all I can do is merge, rename or disband. Some people might be misled into thinking that it would allow one to... manage the fleets? But no, there is no drag and drop from fleet to fleet; that window is mostly useless. You have to eject the ships from all fleets, then rebuild one by one by carefully examining which is what and so on. This is a huge waste of time, not to mention in-game moves, where you pretty much HAVE TO send your ships for this fleet to this tile, then the ships for that fleet to that tile, and so on. And now look, your super-fast fleet is arriving 2 moves short. Oh yeah, I just wasted 4 moves "managing" my fleet...
We should be able to drag and drop ships from one fleet to the next, and also sort them by damage type, size, class, date of manufacture, or a handpicked order. Personally I like to put my support ships first, but someone might want to put theirs last...
Why is there no way to sort the destination when setting a waypoint? Why do I have to scroll through a list that is neither sorted nor sortable by name, distance, or whatever? While I am on the topic of waypoints, why isn't there a visual indicator when clicking on a Shipyard, showing where the ships are going to go to?
And back to the list of improvements, when I was complaining about rolling the scroll wheel like a madman, the scroll bar always gets stuck, every time I use it. Why?
On the diplomacy trading screen, why is nothing sorted nor sortable? Even the resources are in any random order... Yes, the strategics are on top, the "luxuries" are on the bottom, but only the strategics seem to be sorted alphabetically? And don't get me started on trading ships... MY GOD.
Also, I really would like for there to be some way to tell which path my ships and fleets should take; they seem to always pick the riskiest path for no reason. And a way to measure distances... We can do it from a selected fleet to anything, but not from a selected hex to another...
Why does pressing ESC take us out of some screens but not others?
Why is there no "UPDATE DESIGN" button in the ship designer, allowing us to at least designate something as a trade-up that would be replaced automatically in the shipyard queues just like built-in designs? Come to think of it, there should be an "update components if there is room" button on the ship designer, where the hyperwarp engine, for example, would replace the normal warp engine automatically in our designs, just like the built-in ones... Come on, it's not that hard, and you have come such a LONG way!!
Sorry but I just HAVE TO cry about it because this game is otherwise so good now.
PS: I keep editing and adding as I play, sorry...
Anyone? Büeller?
I have built most of my list of much-needed tweaks and improvements into a single post on the steam forums.

please, heed his remarks.... most of these suggestions are easy work. (UI!)
I like the idea of designating custom ships the upgrade of another ship.

Sadly, none of this got fixed. The devs either never saw it or just shrugged it off, going something like "YOU guys play this, we just work here."
I have complained about the UI for ages.
One of the things that really torques my engine is the list sorting mechanism. In the old GC2, there was a wonderful sorting mechanism. It worked like this:
You sorted a list. Then you left the list to do something else. Then you came back to the list and it was still sorted just the way you left it. Beautiful!
Now, you have to re-sort the list(s) every time you visit them. What a PITA. The lists in GC2 were much better. Plus, there were many more ways to sort and filter them.
I miss the old days...
First time seeing this thread. I'm making a note of some of these things in your original Steam thread and will pass them on to our designer.
One thing I didnt like about the ship list is when you colonize or build from a ship you start from the beginning, instead of highlighting the previous, or next ship on the list. Main view using my ship list to move around. Annoying when you have over 20 ships.
I have over 1,000 hours in the game, but a negative review on Steam because of this issue. I mean, the game plays well enough on small and medium maps, and after you get a feel for it and want to try out the really big ones, that's where all the problems crop up.
To me, that was like getting awed and hooked, and then realizing I can't get my fix ever again unless I play the "so last year" short games on small maps. Sigh.
But years have passed, now I just hope these same issues won't show up in GC4!!!!
