Greetings!
I have created this sub-forum so that you can talk about your custom civilizations that you're creating. Enjoy!
I am under the impression that, at age 78 years, I am the oldest of the old. I enjoyed GC for OS2 versions 1 and 2 and enjoyed the EA for all versions except for the first OS2 version.
If what you say is true, my hat off in respect to you, Sir. You must`ve seen it all...
I'm Yas, short for my full user name from the Traveller universe. If you know anything about Traveller, a sci-fi RPG that hails from the late 1970s, and the Droyne, then you know who I am I am a RPG game referee and 4X game modder, I like to tinker with worlds and universes, so hence my choice of name
I spent a considerable amount of time modding GC II TotA, and whole races, new tech trees, new improvements, and tons of tweaking to either fit my tastes and goals, and/or to build on the modding advice of others. An appreciative nod to carielf and Gauntlet for their respective material in the GC II era! Parsing the inner works of that game's html, and borrowing much in ideas and artwork, were highlights of the modding fun I had.
So now to GC III and Crusade: I'm pumped to get started as I have tons of ideas, and I'm pleased we have so many more options in the official game to create our universes! Alas IT technical difficulties preclude me from doing anything concrete right now, however the creation of factions/civilizations based upon the Traveller universe will be forthcoming from me in a month or so (I own plenty of that RPG material to work with). I also have my original factions/civilizations, and I like to borrow from other universes beyond Star Wars, Star Trek, and Star Gate (three of which I enjoy, but are so well known, I leave it to others to indulge themselves )
One question: is it possible to mod in racial biases on top the default diplomacy programming? Is there a way to have it so, for example, no matter whether you play Terrans, or create you own human civ, the Thalans will always give you a hard time compared to how they treat non-humans? Another example: two factions whose backstory describes long standing feuds and animosity such that if they both show up in a game, relations cannot improve beyond a kind of "cold war" standing?
Yas.
Lucky_Jack: I turn 55 this summer. I am but a young pup to thee - I salute your Sir!
I didn't get in on the start of computers. I only got into them in 1962 with commercial and military computers. I did see, however, the start of PCs in 1975, and the advent of the commercially produced PCs in 1980. I have to admit, it has been quite a ride.

Ditto on the Greetings!
The name's Stohrm (pronounced like storm but with more of an "oh"); Stohrm Knightforger and my civilization is from the future. Mind you, they did not travel back to the present on purpose; they stumbled through a unique wormhole. In doing such, they lost contact with their former society's home planet called Earth.
Now the Terran Alliance no longer exists; but they don't know that, yet. No matter though; as they've decided to set up shop anew.
You see, they've arrived in this previously unexplored area of the galaxy with a small fleet of ships. They're also far more technology advanced than they realize and, as such, they're able to expand quite rapidly...

Okay, so this give me, the player, an unfair advantage; but the concept here is simply to be able to play the game at my leisure without worry. Sure, there's little chance and/or risk of losing any battle. In fact, my Command ships are quite capable of taking out Precursor Anomalies with barely breaking a sweat.
For me, though, it's not about winning. No, it's simply about being able to play without any unnecessary pressure(s). The Knights of Technology (aka The Techno Knights) have that ability.

If you're curious, I'm willing to tell you even more; but that's enough for now.

Nifty!
Well, I am trying to create something similar to this game with some difference to common things.
I think it will be interesting
A good article for tweaked games sir.
Thank you very much.
