Mods feel free to move this if this is not in the appropriate spot.Hey, guys. Just a little preview of an album I'm putting together. This isn't the final version, but I figured since you guys are Star Control fans, I could get a little bit of feedback while we're here. I'm not entirely sure which songs I'm going to cover, but I absolutely KNEW I had to use this one at least once. Note: Sound quality drops significantly on phones if not using headphones.

Well golly. Didn't realize I was in good company with another musician on here. I like it and look forward to hearing how it develops. Riku's Yehat theme was definitely always one of my faves and while I always wanted to remaster or remake it, I just never got around to doing it.
Oh yeah. I fully intend to make at least a mini campaign (2-4 hours to complete) at a minimum. I've lurked around a few of the fansites for Star Control over the years (as we are wont to do around these parts), and I was certain I had heard your work somewhere before
UPDATE: The rough draft of the Mycon theme is up! The site's been having some minor technical difficulties lately, so if it looks frozen or stuck, give it a minute or two. I'm actively trying to fix this, but it looks like it might be on Wix's end.
Edit: Fixed the Mycon theme to actually be referred to as the Mycon theme.
I like the dark ambience although it honestly strikes me more as mood music for gameplay as opposed to a race theme. The first thing I pictured while listening was some tense gameplay scenario like navigating through a dark and dangerous environment while something scary is watching/stalking you.
Don't mean to sound critical but the melody is very atonal because the key signature seems way off, or the timbre has been altered with some kind of filter. Don't know if it's intentional but I think it would sound great with the correct pitch/notation left intact.
I took a very different approach with my Mycon concept theme, but I really want to try doing an homage or remaster of the original eventually. One of these days I'll stop making excuses and just do it ...
Moving this out of the Founders forum. Please keep posts there only for game specific threads.
No, it's fine. It's a rough draft, not a final product But yeah, the atonality was slightly intentional to create unnerving dissonance.
Edit: New version uploaded.
Update: The Kohr-Ah Theme has been uploaded. You'll notice the page has undergone a slight makeover!
If you hadn't told me it was a Kohr-Ah theme, I'd have guessed a Druuge inspiration from the sinister guitar licks. The original Kohr-Ah theme didn't have a guitar element, but the percussion and ambience here are definitely nods to the original. Both the Druuge and Kohr-Ah themes shared a few common elements; this almost seems like a hybrid of them.
You are definitely on a roll with these recently. What software are you using for these tracks?
I'm using Reason 7 for these. I'd use a newer version, but I comfortable with this one and can't afford a new edition at the moment.
I'm having trouble deciding on the next one I should do. It's a choice between Thraddash, VUX, and Ilwrath.
Ilwrath. I love me some steamed crab (ok, spider) legs.
Update: What's that shiver down your spine? Those webs behind you? Don't worry, it's only the VISCIOUS ILWRATH BEHIND YOU! The Ilwrath theme has been updated! This one was a hell of a lot of fun.
Okay, which one next? VUX, Thraddash, or Utwig?
Update: Don't call these guys hostile, or brutal. Don't steal from them, and ESPECIALLY don't lie to their face. But feel free to kill their best friend, because the THRADDASH THEME IS UP!
Is Thraddash theme isnpired by
Die Antwoord - Cookie Thumper?
Uh...no. Not at all, no
Update: Rough draft of the Spathi theme is up. Super chaotic track, not sure how I feel about it (everything I know about writing music made no sense while writing this).
Update: Captain, I'm not sure how to say this. We're receiving a garbled message from the Corvi constellation. ...Captain, it's the Androsynth.
My speculative Androsynth theme is up! Extrapolated from the 6 second victory song, I hope to impress just a little
Update: What did you say I look like? WHAT KIND OF MONSTER DO YOU THINK I AM? Captain, you WOUND ME. The VUX theme is up! I know it was a little late. One might say it was...limping in.
The Umgah and Kzer-Za themes are in! Volume I: Hierarchy of Battle Vols, is complete. The first Volume is now free and available for download!
