More Players, More Worlds, More Units, More Everything...in the new Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation Standalone Expansion
Stardock has revealed the first expansion pack for its massive-scale RTS, Ashes of the Singularity. Escalation lets you take your war to the next strategic level on huge maps, destroy your enemy with devastating orbital abilities, bolster your armies with unique new units, and much more!
New Story-Driven CampaignSee Haalee's point of view and learn about the origin of the Substrate in the campaign "Memories." Experience the next chapter in the "Escalation" campaign as the PHC faces external and internal threats.
New UnitsAdd to the gameplay dynamic with new units for both the PHC and the Substrate! Destroy waves of enemies with the heavily armored Hera unit for the PHC or bolster the strength of your army and recharge their defenses with the Caregiver unit for the Substrate, and more.
New WorldsTravel to new Crystal and Lava worlds for new and exciting scenery for truly epic battles. Wage war across landscapes of massive crystal formations or storm your enemy's base across spans of volcanic pits and burning terrain.
Bigger Maps and Global ViewExperience truly massive wars with over a dozen players at once on maps even larger than before! Face the new challenges of multi-tiered terrain and use the new Global View to manage your armies more easily.
New BuildingsBolster your defenses with new upgradeable buildings. Unleash devastating advanced aircraft units on your enemies by building an Aviary or Advanced Sky Factory. Lay traps for your enemies or surprise them from behind enemy lines with new offensive and defensive turrets.
New Orbital AbilitiesSurprise your enemy by using your quanta to call down turrets at critical moments in battle. Defend regions or deploy turrets strategically to trap incoming units or cut off a retreat.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 49And we do regularly issue balance updates based on listening to feedback.
After all the feedback those "tiny maps" still not been fixed. FFS how can you even be making large maps if you can't make small maps properly?
Yeah lets ignore general balance issues, like if they magically going to disappear do to map sizes rofl.
Why would it be higher when nothing is being done? Oh and surprise people who playing SP Skirmish against AI suffers from same balance issues.
Founder as in, you got in on discount, like I did. IF you ever go to a big western city, like say in Paris, you will get two hamburgers and 1 beer for 35 euro and you eat that in 10 min.Tell me how it's expensive paying 20 eur more on a game you already invested 100 hours? it doesn't add up, really. I recall when they said the expansion will be cheaper, but really it's not a pay2win scenario like in other games like COH
Close this thread. Tail chasing has begun.
Hi, I have a question. As a newcommer who will pay 40$ to preorder the standalone expansion, do i get acces to the base game right away until the expansion releases?
On the Escalation store page it says:
Pre-order Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation and receive a free copy of Ashes of the Singularity to play immediately!
So yeah, you should.
If you think the balance in Ashes is that bad, you should probably find another game to play.
While we are continually tweaking the balance of the game based both on feedback and statistical analysis, we are, in whole, satisfied with the current state. I'm sorry you're not. I have nothing else to say on that topic for now.
I would be very curious to look at those statistical analyses even better some (raw) data. Sharing with the community the arguments for certain decisions or satisfaction with current state would be beneficial.
Agree with that, I guess.
What would it hurt?
Open source finds issues more effectively.
Same would hold true with balance, I would think.
But I would relegate discussion to it's own specific thread, because people will argue.
I mean, even starcraft deal with this. They have pro players, and balance is skewed towards their metrics, rather than towards the general player population.
There are a lot of factors to "balance" when dealing with balance.
will there be a third faction? or will it just add more units and diversity in the two factions we already have?
Well ill just leave my 2 cents here.
I will not buy the expansion and would not recommend it to my friends for these reasons:
1) When buying a game i really expect to buy a full game, instead of "big part" and a few "small parts". The game has been out for like 3 months and we already got 5 dlcs with MAPS (each for 4-5 euros). Now we actually have to pay extra 20-30 euros for PROMISSED core game feature of large maps, and some new maps + new units/orbitals/land reskins (okay this one is debatable)? No thank you.
2)Balance issues are still there. You can compare ashes to sc2 all you want, but sc2 is all about micro, and as i recall your game positioned itself as macro game with little to no mirco management. Balancing micro is a lot harder then macro you know.
3) The game is not polished enough to actually get an expansion. Expansions are meant to "expand core product with additional functions, content etc" but what we get here is "fixes for the price of an expansion".
4) The business model of ashes. I am ok with game being in a long term development process, but arent we as a customers are supposed to get a full product? Atm we pay for a whole pie, but we get a piece of pie asap, then another piece for some extra 5 eur, then another one for 5 eur and ofc you can have the rest for extra 30 eur. No guys, thats not how gaming works nowadays. I should have listened to game reviewers saying "its stardocks, just wait a year or two after the game released and buy it then, cause it will be good and polished by that time. But do not ever buy their games at release or EA".
Why do i write this comment? I guess i still have some hope for this game, cause i see the potential in it, but i do think i will give it a new try a few years later, when the game will be polished and will have a lot of content.
I bet those awesome statistics include data from top players matched against some new players in MM, in the end it's lots of fun playing something like hearthstone in other window while stomping on new player in AoS and creating solid statistics!
yeah sure we alle neinhalt, dasunding, DanailLazov, sunbeam, never we all dont know what we talking about.... that there are issues in the game...
could it be that these players are except of one according stardocks "statistics" all in the top 8 of the best Ashes of the Singularity players in the world????
but yes fantstc1 and RomeoProject are right we just dont know what we talking about...
I as Player (Never) will no more debate about that... I presented my arguments in different threads in the forum and I opened tickets as well... I did all what i can...
its not a democracy stardocks and the developer decide what in the end will be done.
I cannot for the life of me imagine how that would in any way support their statistics. Kinda just seems like you're frothing at the mouth because you don't know what else to do.
a bit out of the topic. but brad are you aware of this ?
to be honest there is a problem with the air, and that is when you use the stop button/icon and press it, you will end up with the air unit stopping in its tracks/stalling/standing still while in mid air and basicly firing at things almost as they were a ground unit. (this happend some patches ago during mid summer i think, and its really abuseable and annoying if you face a player that know of this methode.
this is not like a bug, but a problem that happend during the mid summer patch, something that is best to fix once a bug or issue fix is in order. (like next patch after escalation)
if you try it out brad you will see why.
I am still fuzzy on the details on how this will end up.
I assume that there is no cross-play between versions, correct?
Is the lobby going to show all versions of the game available, so people can tell where the most population of players are in?
hey creature,
dont forget this post:
"
i want to ask the devs, is there plans for Athena Nerf (for allowing to target buildings) basicly remove it so the artimies can take its place for destroying defensiv buildings.
(same cause, as the Mauler nerf in one of the lastest patch)
Regarding Eradicator the radar sniping was planned, however since the eradicator needs to target tier 2 and dreads on vison, how will that work out, or rather is there any plans for the eradicators to be able to identify tier 2 and dreadnaughts in radar range so they can utilise their long range according to what has been said about its pastcoming function.
Any plans regarding that.?
Lastely the destructors they need a rework in order to be used in small assaults and be of good use. (basicly you cant assault anything unless you have large amount of map controll due to lack of firepower, range and numbers needed to be efficent to their counterpart artimies.
i wish to hear what you the devs have planned for these 3 things or rather regarding that thema, since these 3 things are something that shoulde be added on the list for the future patch.
(and Mp really need them to set a bit better line of balance)
also i like to thank you (The devs) for their outstanding work on ashes and their amazing support to the game
We don't know when someone purchases the game. That is precisely how the issue happened in the first place. We thought we could simply sell the expansion to people for $14.99 who had already bought the game before the sale. But you can't. The only people we know the date they purchased are the founders.
Hi, i'd like to ask a few questions about this:
I was under the assumption that a developer does know when a customer has made his purchase. Me and a friend bought AotS pre-release in Feb 2016, and have since then received the Overlord DLC for free like you stated in your 'Ashes Dev Roadmap' on steam: Free to those who have the game at this point, $3.99 otherwise.
So are my friend and myself getting Escalation for free as also stated in your roadmap: ($19.99 or those who own the game at the time of release) , as we owned the game before release?
When checking my purchase and license history in steam, i can even see the exact date i bought AotS, and that it is the 'Ashes of the Singularity Launch' package i bought. It makes me wonder that you'resaying you can track the date of purchase of founders only.
Thanks for answering, and for making this great game Just upgraded from 16 to 32 GB RAM, now i only need a faster video card...
/edit:
Bonus question: if i'm buying Escalation from Steam with the 50% discount active now, and choose to purchase it as a gift, will i also get the free vanilla AotS as a gift in my inventory? Or is the free copy of AotS automatically added to the account of the buyer, which in my case as an existing owner, will render the free copy useless?
Background: if i get a spare copy of vanilla AotS in my inventory, i'll give it to another friend and redeem the Escalation gift on my own account.
No, you can get Escalation for $19.99. I'm a basic level founder and I still have to pay $19.99 so you have to too
Hi, I go to the pre-order page for those who already have Ashes and am not seeing the pre-order price. Thanks.
You need to be logged into steam.
Although, I am not sure the sale is still on.
The sale is still on for owners, though the 50% off for Ashes owners is not really a sale, it is a fixed discount or price, and will last at least up to the release of the expansion. Don't know about after.
The upgrade price for owners of Ashes should be permanent.
I believe there is still a 25% discount for others for a limited time.
Well, money was tight, but I bit the bullet and pre-purchased. Make me proud!
hey Island Dog an Frogboy,
can we pop the corks and gratulate stardocks for the next add on
