WARNING. If you have IP 5.x installed on Windows 8/10 DO NOT uninstall it before installing IP10. Doing so will cause damage to icon associations that IP10 will not be able to fix. Install IP10 OVER IP5.x
Beta 2 update (7/18/16):
Didn't see this reported above.
IP10 on Win7 Pro. Since the install, the Change Icon item in a desktop shortcut's context (right-click) menu fails to bring up the Change Icon dialog for some, but not all, shortcuts but the icon can still be changed in the file's properties dialog via the Change Icon button.
Not all shortcuts or desktop items have the Change Icon item in the context menu, but I don't believe that is new to IP10.
My contribution is that Stardock should notice to customers that Windows 10 require icons for Windows 10. Even if Iconpackager 10 run perfectly, it must install icon themes for Windows 10. The old icon themes lack of some format icons. Windows 10 icons include 20x20 and 40x40 px. that if the theme doesn't have so the icon will never appear. I'm correct?
My personal congratulation to all the Stardock Team. I'm ready to create new icon themes for our (ugly) Win 10.
IconDeveloper will allow you to add these sizes to the iconPackages without disturbing the integrity of the package itself. I'm not sure, but I'm going to check and see if it does so in a batch operation so as not to have to convert each icon independently. -- Ace --
No no... I'm telling that people should be clear that themes for Windows 7 will not work good in Windows 10. I don't think that Iconpackager automatically can create the 20x20 and 40x40 px icons.
I use Iconworkshop and for each icon I need to create a special 20x20px version for each icon since is so small size.
In "My downloads" I don't see Iconpackager 10 BETA to be able to test it. Is this because my Object Desktop licence expired? Can anyone send me a link?
I will thank you very much!!!
Yes, you need a current sub to access betas. And as long as you've been around, you should know that no one can send you a link. Hang in there, it will be out of beta soon but if all you have is IP 5, you will still need to renew or buy IP10 as a standalone.
Hi
I have been using IconPackager 10 for a while now and everything seems fine except in the All Apps list. Program Icons appear as file default blank icons and not the actual program icons used when initially installed. If I revert back from a package to Windows Default Icons they appear as they should sometimes. I have also found that I can get the icons to appear correctly if I find the location of the actual programs exe file and enter properties and change icon select the original icon and then apply and ok it. I have to do the same for the shortcut in the start menu. This does not always work and sometimes you have to do it a couple of times to get it to work. I assume this is a bug with IconPackager 10. The funny thing is within Windows Explorer the shortcut icons in the start menu folders display the correct icon for the programs exe files.
Hope you can help as its driving me mad having to try and correct these default file icons.
Cheers
Andy
We think we have this addressed in the next build
Cool Thanks
Beta 2 update went out today.
Beta 2 does indeed seem to have the Cortana and All Apps problems licked, but I don't get a custom icon for an empty live folder? Have I missed something I have to do? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
It is a package I assembled and saved with IP's "customize" feature. Live folders are defined and showing correctly, but when a folder is empty, I get the windows default (yellow folder) icon.
Did you define the normal folder icon too?
An empty folder is not a live folder, it would be using the static folder icon.
Are you referring to open folder/closed folder? If I define those, then live folders appear on top of the static icons and icons within the package all get shifted such that every icon after the open/closed folder ones are incorrect. This requires me to restore windows default icons, delete the icon package, reboot and start over.
First of all Thanks to Stardock for all the effort you put into this software. I love it. I have Windows 10 installed and have a previous version of IconPackager on my computer. When I install the New version Iconpackager 10 all is fine till I reboot. Then when I try to open the program I get the FILE SYSTEM ERROR (65535) and the program will not open. Anybody else have this problem and how to fix. I have tried both betas. Thanks
Completely uninstall, reboot, run a registry cleaner like cCleaner or Wise Registry Cleaner (or both is better). Reboot and reinstall the latest IconPackager. If you had a previous version installed, you should not have, as no previous versions were compatible with Windows 10 and you end up with issues like this.
Thanks LightStar for the reply...The reason I had IconPackager 5 installed was it was on Windows 8 and worked fine. Then I upgraded to Win10 and it still worked fine. I read that we should not uninstall the program for it will mess up the icons on 10. I hope Stardock has an answer for me.
Oh well, best to contact Stardock support then I guess.

Have you done anything to your install to mess with UAC?
IconPackager needs administrator rights and is manifested accordingly so this may be a problem if there is a problem with UAC
Guys, I figgered it out: Only the Closed folder icon needs to be customized. I am now a very happy camper!!!
Well I don't think I have done anything different than before. I'm not that tech savy to change or know if my UAC was messed with. Along with the IconPackager10 not starting without the (65535) error, all my windows explorer icons and control panel icons disappear. I use system restore to go back to reclaim these. Thanks Steve
I'm a previous owner of the last versions. There is no download link in my account at Stardock, why?
If you are an Object Desktop subscriber and your subscription is current (not expired) you should see a download link for this new beta. If your subscription has expired you will not. Otherwise it is still in beta and not yet available for general purchase. When it does become available for public purchase, owners of previous versions can typically buy the new version at a discounted upgrade price.
