WARNING. If you have IP 5.x installed on Windows 8/10 DO NOT uninstall it before installing IP10. Doing so will cause damage to icon associations that IP10 will not be able to fix. Install IP10 OVER IP5.x
Beta 2 update (7/18/16):
I use AVG anti virus and Malware bytes. And I use the standard explorer.. No third parties.
Has anyone looked at the new color options?(IconPackage is the MasterSkin "Next Domain" by Vampothika)
And if you liked the IP v4/5 recoloring, it's still available.
wow, great to be back after a hiatus, looking forward to trying out as I just moved back to about 10 miles from Stardock HQ (at least I think you guys haven't moved)

Installed on a Win10 Pro x64 VMWare VM.
Took a snapshot of the VM first though.
Applied a package and all looked well.
Applied Windows default package.
... the icon for Icon Packager went to a generic blank icon
... the icon for Internet Explorer went to a generic blank icon
Uninstalled IP.
Internet Explorer Icon still broke. Had to right click on it and change icon. That fixed it.
Reverted VM back to snapshot, re-installed IP and could not reproduce the issue.
Took another snapshot of VM.
All icons still look fine.
Reverted VM back to snapshot #2 ( the one that has IP installed ).
All works well.
Note: the only other Stardock app installed on the VM is Fences.
When I upgraded to Win10 IP5 Was indeed still installed so I waited and thought this would be the process (and I was right) so hooray for that & clever me for not uninstalling it previous to this !
That is extremely sad that an application cannot be uninstalled without hosing your system. That issue should have been addressed LONG ago so folks would not be left in that scenario.

There is nothing we can do. IP5 was simply unable to parse the backup information it had stored from the registry for some associations on an OS it was not designed for and uninstalling deletes the file that contains that information so IP10 couldn't use it.
IP10 IS able to parse it correctly hence installing IP10 rather than uninstalling a product which clearly warned against installation.
Not sure if this is a bug or not. But i just upgraded IP 5x to 10 Beta and within 25 minutes i got a phone call from The Australian Labour Party asking me to answer some questions for a voter survey. Not saying it's related but i mean.. Hmmmmmm.
Only kidding. All good here so far on Win 7 Ultimate. But then i hardly ever see the problems others have. Maybe i am just that damn good or scary that my computer knows better

1st: I am really excited about IP10.
Question: Is the package builder usable/stable right now (I still see Vista stuff in it) or should we wait a bit ?
Asking because I would need the sub-package feature.
The only issue I had was it did not change the icons for my DVD player. I had to change them Individually on each package I tried.

The issues surrounding uninstalling IP were present LONG before Windows 10. It was reported, reported, reported and reported by many people and never addressed. I used it on every XP, 7, and 8 and it hosed each one when uninstalled.
so far so good here... brand new Y700 lappy, zero responsiveness issues (outside on WindowFX with VMware which I will report in bugs)
IP seems very stable so far!!

This is an unrelated issue. That issue was fixable. This other one (the reason we were so clear not to use it on those OSes) has no simple fix once it has happened.
There are no planned changes to the Package builder
So tell me. If i had installed IP5 and then uninstalled it and just lived with my borked icons, should I re-install IP5 before the new one then?
Depends on what the issue is. If you have an issue with exe icons being blank then installing IP10 will be sufficient. If the issue is associations showing as the UAC icon only then that will not help. Once you have uninstalled IP5 on a Windows 10 machine that issue would be unrecoverable at least unless you have IP set to replace the icon for that association in which case all will be fine. It is just reverting back to defaults which would remain broken (as it would revert you to what you had)
This is why the installer blocked installation on Windows 10.
No UAC icons at all, just blank ones. And the programs that go with those blank ones still work. So it sounds like I should be ok with an IP10 install. Thank you.
EXE icons in Cortana are all blank. Will uninstalling IP fix it????
It is unlikely that IP will fix those icons at the moment (if ever). I've seen exes I've served for be blank before IP10 was even installed and I have seen them recover on their own. The same is true after IP10 was installed. MS can be so frustrating some times.
I went ahead and uninstalled IP10 and the icons were restored. The icons were fine before IP10 was installed so there is apparently a bug that is causing the EXE icons to disappear when IP10 is installed.
