Hello!
The 1.8 update is nearly here. We taken some time to improve the stability of multiplayer, as well as introduced some new game features including asteroid mining and ship leveling.
Overview
Asteroid MiningYou can now mine Asteroids for riches! Click on any Asteroid within your ZOC and spend some credits to start building an Asteroid Mining Base. Once the Base is complete, it will send Raw Production to the planet of your choice (you can re-assign the destination planet of course). However, these Asteroid Bases are fragile and easily destroyed by an enemy attack.
Ship LevelingAll ships now improve over time for winning battles and surveying anomalies. Most ships will gain additional HP as they level up. Mercenary Ships will additionally improve based on their existing abilities.
Improved MultiplayerWe've completely reworked the game's movement and event system to greatly reduce the number of desyncs and improve the stability of multiplayer.
Uncolonized Planet ListWe've added a great new feature that lists out planets you've discovered but haven't colonized yet. This will help you expand your empire faster.
Star Information WindowYou can now click on a star to see colonizable worlds within that solar system. Rename your stars to organize your empire or after your favorite Sci-Fi series.

Uncolonized Planet ListThe Colonies list now has two sections: Colonized and Uncolonized Planets. Uncolonized Planets lists out the planets you've discovered but haven't colonized yet. Both sections are collapsible and are independently sorted.
Ship Leveling
Improved Multiplayer experienceRefactored movement and events systems to reduce the number of stuck turns and desyncs during multiplayer. These changes should have no gameplay effects.Increased the movement speed of ships only in multiplayer.

Thank you for letting us rename stars. No longer will I have to try to immerse myself in a galactic conquest fantasy filled with stars named things like "Deez Nuts"
"Deez Nuts are yours. Except Cashew. Attempt no landing there."
I don't think we'll be able to fix this before release but we'll make sure it get fixed soon after. Any other problems in MP?

I don't know what you fixed in multiplayer in the 1.8 patch but it's not stable for multiplayer. I just spent a frustrating afternoon trying to play GC3 in multiplayer with multiple client crashes and multiple game lock-ups when the last human player passed their turn. These problem happened from time to time in previous versions but not with the frequency. It got so bad we just gave up playing. You need to do more thorough testing before you post a patch. I know you can't test every possible combination but you obviously missed some things. We won't be able to play again until you get it fixed.
Single player is also not stable, just so you know.
Will we ever see a means to upgrade starbase-mining facilities, or starbase modules that improve mining in their area of effect? What about the improvements to planetary invasion that were mentioned a while ago?
MP on Tuesday night 6/21 we could not continue saved game 1.8, game would load and then lock up on the first players turn, game would not continue. we only tried a couple of times as one of us had to go do to a family issue, however, it seems like we went backwards here... (as far as stability not overall).
We haven't had any problems loading save games from mp. Can you submit a ticket with the save game attached so we can take a look? Thank you.

Thanks for the reply, I know you all are busy people. We were able to resume on Sunday 6/26 with no issues it's possible that one of us had to verify game cache as we both did prior to resuming then. I'll let you know should we see anything else.
