When I first installed WB8, I spent several days wandering around WinCustomize.com, and downloaded many skins which I am much enjoying!!
I face one frustrating anomaly, though... more than 1/3 of my favorite skins are older-style skins, from when there was no taskbar... I can install them, but when I load them, the taskbar is completely messed up; in most cases, it is rendered as a mottled, often-unreadable bar that is roughly the colors of the theme. In many cases, the icons are not even visible.
Unfortunately, I am severely lacking in artistic skills, so rendering the missing object by hand is probably beyond my capabilities.
So what options do I have, for salvaging these old skins?? A least-effort technique would be to remove the taskbar from WB control and let Windows render it, using a color that is compatible with the skin. Best would probably be to re-render the taskbar WB object in the appropriate skill, but I'm assuming that would require Photoshop plus artistic skill, both of which I lack.
Has there been any discussion of this subject previously? Is there any easily accessible solution that would let me utilize these old, beautiful themes?
My system is Windows 7 64-bit.
Originally WB8, but just upgraded to WB10.
Are you using Start10?
No, I use ClassicShell for Start Menu
There is an issue with WB10 on Win10 where if you are not using Start10 then if the skin lacks a taskbar skin then the taskbar may paint oddly rather than reverting to the default OS look for the taskbar. This isn't the case with Start10 running and it is on the list to address in a WB update as it is a bug. If the skin has a taskbar skin then you are fine and it all works as normal.
Just to clarify, though, I'm using Win7, not Win10, so looks as though problem exists with both OSs.
Any idea on a timetable for fixing this bug? Is it a "fix soon" or "fix someday" issue?
Oops... and neither Start10 nor Start8 can be installed on Windows 7 ... Is there a Start7 that I can try, and see if it works for me??
Ahh if you are using Windows 7 then if there is no support for the taskbar then you may get unexpected behaviour. Only Windows 10 will not require those sections and I misread your post and thought you mentioned Windows 10 when you mentioned WindowBlinds 10.
You could use the option in WB to set a different skin for the taskbar and start menu though.
Can I set the skin to let Windows render the taskbar, and have the skin just skip that element? That's not ideal, but would at least make those skins usable...
